Love this. I remember 20 years ago as a young Taxi Driver in Skye Blair Douglas was a good customer of mine. Probably one of the nicest people you could meet. Whenever I walked into a bar Blair was playing he knew my request, always 'Kate Martins waltz'. To the person who said he wrote it for his wife am sure it was for his mother :)
written 1989 for Kate Martin of Inverasdale, Wester Ross. One of the founders of Feis Rpis, Feis Lochaber Bheo, and Feisean nan Gaidheal moved Dundee, lecturer in Community Education
Favorite tune of my dear friend Patrick MacPherson who sadly passed away July 21. Would face time him during his illness and blast Kate Martin Waltz as an introduction. Also loved "Caledonian" by Dougie McLean.
Gorgeous in every way. Love the echoing melody, it's a really unique composition. The pix of Skye are grandeur!!! They bring back memories of a favorite book from young adulthood called "Mystery on the Isle of Skye" by Phyllis A. Whitney which captured so vividly the brooding Cuillin Hills and other aspects of the island and the sea as a fictional 12-year old girl of the MacLeod Clan visits the land of her ancestors ... it really captured my young imagination. Thanks for sharing a very special part of God's world.
My God I work and travel all over this planet from the Caribbean to Africa and it is my homeland and my love of my Scotland and the great musicians such as Blair Douglas that keeps me sane and all my friends love your music
Hello Ian. Great tune which I heard in a session at Newcastleton Festival last week. I've just downloaded quite a lot of his music from iTunes . Particularly like the music of Jim Reid which I first heard on your channel. Have you heard the singing of Kirsty Leonard ?? She has a recent recording of Little Musgrave on UA-cam. It's very impressive , but not surprising considering she has won the Women's Open Competion for the last 2 years. Hopefully more recordings will appear....as they say "there's a new kid on the block"
Nope, All the videos are watched as far as I can see. I'm gonna call a friend up now....You got a whole bunch of new views now cuz sometimes UA-cam won't open up the reply. I kept hitting refresh but it still says "No comments to display" so fine...UA-cam sucks as usual so I'm just making a brand new fresh comment to respond to you....."Ha ha UA-cam....You lose....Now you can throw me back into the spam bin cuz I'm flying outta here..........Oh yeah.....See ya Ian.

But surely the name gives whom it was written for, away.
