After listen to Mike I can draw similar parallels in my Infantry career. I started in the airborne infantry 11B at the age of 17 and I went on into the Marines and served in combat. Lots of aspects of the mob and his probationary/prospect time reminds me of a type of basic training. It's a hard life and were all killers. I have a lot of respect for this guy even more so on how he changed his life around and is doing good things and helping people. I really enjoy these podcasts. keep it up!

Les Jardins..& the well known Channel 80 ..I worked there from 1986-88..& I met or at least saw in passing every major mob figure from that era there..
I also grew up & currently live in Greenpoint Brooklyn..a couple blocks away from Sonny Franzese moms house..& my grandmother had her wake in the same funeral home that Sonny's mother had hers..

There's no jumping ahead of people. You get what you're given, when you're given it. If Michael was earning well and running bits and pieces, that automatically puts him ahead of a 20 year veteran, who just kills and collects, even if that person is level headed and efficient. An earner and a leader will always "jump the queue" because they bring more value.

I love people that can do/be a part of violent organization and recount their experiences with such excellent context! So we’ll done. I was a Captain in the Army and served in combat in Iraq and I take pride in being able to explain what war is really like. So, seeing it done so expertly here helps me tell better stories. Knowing the right context to add etc…

A guy like Michael could have risen to the top in the legit world in any profession he applied himself.
Seems clear that the mob life is a million times harder and thus less profitable than just starting out and staying legit for a smart, articulate, ambitious guy like Michael.

Reverse that order Chief. They get into crime BECAUSE it's easier than normal businesses and employment. They purposefully took the shortcut known as crime. Btw Mike is doing that now with his channel and bs Bible thumping. He's not even good at it he says the most basic of Christian phrases and euphemisms and the likes

I love the both for the gifts of their life stories. It is a blessing that these Men are here to tell us their stories. That said Blessings to you Ben and feel better keep up the fight

Another excellent segment . . . this confirmed what I have read concerning " a day in the life " . In watching clips from the "sit down " - I hate to say it but, Sammy came across as a ' Thug ' with some type of "chip" on his shoulder or something to " prove ". Michael handled himself well making points and rebutting smartly and effectively. If I was "in the life" and was able to pick the Capo I would work for - Michael with no doubt.
