I had this out of guitar player I believe it was!!!! Thank you for the memories and one hell of an instrumental, highly underrated this guy was, and still is!! Kick ass Richie!!
Many thanks for sharing and uploading this! Credit to my older brother's influence as a guitarist, his record collection and his Guitar Player, Guitar World and metal magazines, I was exposed to all kinds of great music and resources during those all important impressionable teenage years. I haven't heard this sound page since 1989 or '90 and the memories of that time are flowing back just listening it again! Hearing Richie Kotzen's 'Strut-It' for the first time as a 13 year old beginning my musical discovery was a watershed moment for me. It was Kotzen's sound page along with Paul Gilbert's Guitar Player sound page of the same year featuring Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey shredding out 'Screaming Blues-O-Mania' which really kick started me not only taking note of all the musicians involved in the guitar virtuoso and metal scene but also setting a more technical platform for me when I started playing bass around this time. Satriani and Stu Hamm on 'Flying In A Blue Dream', Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan with on David Lee Roth's 'Skyscraper' were already getting my undivided attention when Kotzen came along as a teenage prodigy and this sound page (and Paul Gilbert's) were a catalyse for me to dive into more complex and techncal guitar driven arrangements. After hearing this, I rushed out to my local import record store and bought Kotzen's debut ep and Mr Big's debut album based on my love for both those sound pages and they were officially the first two albums I got on the compact disc format. While Kotzen's ep and tunes all sounded a little same-same after a few listens, it did contain some amazing musicianship. He has turned out to be a superb vocalist and songwriter, although it wasn't some 25 years latter that I rediscovered him.
My uncle share me this solo in the 90ties and I was waiting 15 years to find this recording again. Thanks for sharing!

THANK YOU, I used to have their disc too (Guitar Player sound page ... 1989) ... Ritchie Kotzen's playing is already amazing but you can see how much he has evolved and improved since then... thanks again for uploading this !!!
