  • Summary:
I’ve always thought that Shibi are so line shy and picky, but this one bit on wire and downrigger!! Sometimes you just get lucky haha.

Damashi: Homemade using line between 12-16lb, typically J-Flouro Samurai. I typically tie my own flies. When using lures, I like Tylah lures or CHL Nox Minnows, both I set up with gold hooks and a red bead which I find to be very effective and highly recommend them. (Tylahlures.com and chlures.com and check out my buddy (Geronimo Angeles | Facebook) for those BiteLytes!

Note: I link the amazon links for ease of finding products and ease or purchase/delivery, but I highly recommend shopping at your local fishing stores and support them (like www.hawaiinearshorefishing.com or www.hifishgear.com).

It's so memorizing watching a million and one bait fish come up!

My buddy used to tell me he liked that part of the videos. I thought it was the boring part lol. Is it too much?

Nicely done releasing that kaku! I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have gotten both books out.

In fairness, I was trying to clip the wire but it wouldn’t cut. The jostling of the wire shook the hook far enough out of his mouth to grab it. It was just lucky 😂

Great job handlining that shibi on the long leader. How come there were the 3 or so opelu around when you landed the kaku? Did you release those or were they just following you around?

I’m not sure those were opelu. Honestly I think they were following the kaku around haha.

@@findyourfever everybody do their own thing. Some guys use 10lb with 8lb branches, all kine fancy stuff lol. Some people go lighter when bait get hard. I just use 15-16lb test and I seem to catch bait ok 😅
