A modern spin on the classic Negroni

- The East India Negroni uses a very un-modern sherry instead of vermouth and rum instead of gin for a rich, Christmasy winter warmer.
Created by Jim Meehan to let bartenders know that rum doesn’t only belong in tiki drinks, but I also think it shows what a great foil sweet sherry can be to darker spirits.
SPECS:
45ml (1 1/2oz) Diplomatico Reserva dark rum (for a rich chocolate hit)
20ml (3/4oz) Lustau East India cream sherry
20ml (3/4oz) Campari
Orange twist to garnish
EQUIPMENT:
A jigger
A mixing glass
A barspoon
A julep strainer
A rocks glass
Good ice
METHOD:
Jim’s recipe calls for 2oz rum, but I like to pull it back a little and let the sherry shine through.
Add all of the ingredients to your mixing glass, stir until it is chilled and diluted, and strain over good ice.
Squeeze your orange twist over the drink to expel the oils, which provides a lovely aromatic lift to this quite heavy drink.
Garnish, and enjoy!

Cara, this channel is about to blow up, don't worry.
You are a good Teacher for both Black & Whites. Will try it when will be back from the heights.
Excellent use of Diplomatico
Your voice ( specifically how you say Sherry) is the best part of these videos. The beautiful drinks are just a bonus 😅
I love this channel. Always great cocktail original and variations. I definitely appreciate your use and highlight of Venezuelan rums. Specially, Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, which is among my favorites.
Love this riff! Definitely giving it a stir! Cheers Cara!
The way she pronounces Sherry 😍!
Becoming a huge fan of your channel! As a craft bartender here in the US (Nashville) i find that 9/10 UA-cam bartenders have absolutely no idea what the fuck they are talking about. I've actually learn d quite a bit from your channel and feel quite validated when I find we do things the same way! Keep up the great work!
I'm no UA-cam expert, but with respect to increasing your audience, I think you've got the toughest part nailed: Quality of content. No amount of branding, SEO, collabs, or anything else can make up for boring and worthless content, so you are already ahead of 80% of the competition. You just need your break-out referral from a fan with a billion followers.
Love it...... but if possible could you please put up a wee recipe card and shopping list at the end of videos that would be very helpful and appreciated... Good work guys keep it up...🍸🥃🍸🥃🍸🍻🍻
Glad I found this channel! I’ll definitely be sharing
Just made this drink, beautiful, complex flavors shine through. Didn't even miss the extra half ounce of rum
I will have to try this. Thank you.
I really loved this. Definitely going to try it with the SO later tonight. On the topic of rum: Diplomatico is so good! When it gets warm around here, I love serving it in a tumbler, adding 2-3 drops of orange essential oil onto a big block of ice, then pouring the rum over it. I've recently also discovered Santa Teresa 1796, a Venezuelan solera (!) rum, which I also have fallen in love with.
Love this channel! The amount of info and video length is just right.
How about a collab with @howtodrink? That would be fun!
The drink looks as lovely as the person who made it.🌻🌻🌻
I'm so trying this! Looks wonderful, and that specific Diplomatico is among my favorites
Looks amazing!
This looks awesome!
