*HEY* Check out my analysis on the original version of One Winged Angel right here! This'll help you understand a lot of context in this video. ua-cam.com/video/Cg7jYDzD2ts/v-deo.html
6:33 this change I actually liked; to me it sounded like a conspectus of Sephiroth's entire life; a somewhat grey build up of power with no outright hint of heroism or villainy, which ends on a villainous note symbolising his breakdown, and the 'tumbling' piano representing his gradual descent into true villainy after his initial mania.
Crisis core has my favorite version of One Winged Angel, it describes Sephiroth at the time perfectly. He's angry, he's confused he thinks everyone but him is wrong.
@@JonathanFrostathan I also like how it's the most original before the KH version and Rebirth. And a remixed version is Reunion would have been awesome.
Advent children will forever be my favorite version of my song, and although you don’t agree with me, I absolutely love the guitar solo Edit: I also always hear and read it as ferum terribile, terrible fatum/ fierce terror, terrible fate
Well, now I gotta listen to every version myself. I'm a metal head so advent children's version takes the 1 spot for me but maybe that will change. Great video!
I was kind of hoping you'll also rank the 'Distant Worlds' orchestral version (which is a re-arrangement for live orchestral performance as a part of a tour of final fantasy music)
@@JonathanFrostathan fair enough! I'd love to see a breakdown of difference between tour and game versions of FF tunes in the future, maybe even go over a few of uematsu's black mages band's covers!
I agree with the rebirth being above the original one I think to also take from the rebirth theme is that it doesn't start chanting his name till he brings out his wing the first to phases build up the hype even more especially if your fighting him, original ff7 is still good though, the notes and intstruments are supposed to based on the fact that sephiroth has accended to a god like state, cause in orignal ff7 you fight sephiroth as pretty much a god and thats what he thinks of himself as
How did you find out that Kingdom Hearts Final Mix has a different version than OG KH1 and KH1.5? Cuz everywhere I look it just says KH1 and KH1.5 it doesn’t even mention Final Mix being a different version
@@JonathanFrostathan wow you actually responded thank you also you must have some pretty good hearing if you heard a difference I’ve tried and I barely hear a difference to me it sounds like one of em is ever so slightly compressed compared to the other
Yeaah TBH I'm just here to hear you ramble cause I just do not understand a _word_ of that music terminology but hey, any song in Latin is good in my books!
Uh oh looks like we got also a new one of Rebirth as well because it could be heard in the final trailer for FF7 Rebirth (2nd Game in the Remake Trilogy)
You are dead wrong, the advent children version is easily the best version and it's not even close. It undeniably serves as the definitive version of the song, here's why: for starters, it's the cleanest version as there are 0 sections where you're bored of the song, compared to every other version, where you could just stop listening because it was chilling - the calmer parts of advent build terror and anticipation, and are also their own incredible sections on top of that. Listening to advent version then listening to any other version is very disappointing, and the difference is night and day. Advent adds so many things to various sections and uses guitar to increase the level of quality by making it more badass. When you listen to the other versions you really become hyper aware there's a drop in quality, because every time you're about to arrive at an epic section, you are immediately slammed with a feeling that something is missing. It's really not even close, just think about it, if you think about listening to this song, you think of the advent version, because it's the complete version, it takes every exceptional element of the song and cranks it to an insane level.

The fact that Kingdom Hearts makes up a third of One Winged Angel versions really sells how much they love that song.

Facts. Would've been cool to see a remaster in Crisis Core Reunion, but since CC's soundtrack is already amazing, I'll allow it.

Now there’s also Ever Crisis’s version as well

2.28 "my son" is a reference to Jenova.
Sephiroth is like his theme.
Inevitable and menacing
*Snaps fingers
I like your comedy between the explanations keep up the good work 👍👍
Glad you thought I was funny! I personally think I could've delivered and written some of the jokes better, but I'm glad that you enjoyed them anyway.

I only counted arrangements that are in games, not tours.

I always interpreted the lyrics of the advent children version to be Jenova singing the most metal lullaby to Sephiroth, not kadaj.
Ever Crisis has a new version of OWA
Welp, guess we'll just have to talk about that one soon, won't we?

I noticed that the instrumental was ever so slightly different. It's my musical ear sensing some differences in notation and articulation lol.

LOL that's fair. Thanks for the support. ;)
I honestly would put Advent Children Complete near the top

But you also can’t feel bored for the kingdom hearts versions cuz it has the best parts of the song and removes the rest
Let's make a deal! I subscribe, and you make a video or two talking about your opinions on KH games? XD
Why do people hate owa rebirth?
