Thanks for coming to visit Cary! Nice catch too! [did you know that a Siemens charger led the Carolinian on September 11?] Elevator photographer DieselDucy also visited Cary a few weeks ago to film some elevators around here. R.I.P one of the WABCO mechanical bells though. This line is also quiet on Saturday and Sunday. The CSX local only comes Monday-Friday.
Thanks! I believe CSX only has two freight trains that come through here every day (except maybe weekends now?): A southbound from Raleigh to Hamlet (L619) and a northbound from Hamlet to Raleigh (L620). The Silver Star is the only other train that uses this part of the S Line, I believe, and is generally the easier of the two pairs to catch due to having a publicly available timetable.
Every time I was there, they would always make the two-stop process (one for the passengers, the other for baggage) going southbound. I'm guessing they're doing it for the northbound runs now?
Nice catch, sounds like the WABCO bell on the left signal is starting to have trouble ringing but other than that it sounds great, and shame the right wabco bell died, i hope CSX fixes it instead of replacing it because its a rare bell and would be a shame if it got replaced with an NEG E bell
I don’t know who called in to report “saw a dead bell on UA-cam”, but just know we are all laughing at you. Thank you, super citizen 🫡 -apex signal maintainer
@@freebrickproductions both bells are working, and have been. Just an fyi to the busybodies- when you guys call in and make my life more difficult with stupid calls, the next thing I’m going to do is yank those “bad bells” off and throw them in the dumpster and replace with electronic bells. These crossings aren’t here for foamers. They’re here for trains, and public safety. I’d love to go to your jobs and film y’all all day everyday and see how it feels
You’ll be pleased to know that both mechanical bells are still there as of today
Great crossing! Shame one of the WABCO bells died, though at least the crossing was recorded many times before when both bells were working.
Thanks!

Nice catch! Judging by the recordings of the crosing here, i feel like its almost rare to catch a CSX as they dont show up often.

Nice catch and crossing

Great video & Crossing! Shame one of the WABCO bells died here.
Thanks!

I seem to recall them doing this for the northbound run when we were there in 2021 as well.

Thanks! From the previous videos here, it's been sounding like that for a few years it seems.
What are they going to do? Leave a dead bell up there? More than likely an NEG bell is going up while the dead bell is tossed.
@@RaisedLetter it's a rare bell so I would hope that it gets fixed, but it most likely will become an NEG E Bell
@@Hawaiianfangamer2020 all I can say is try and tell that to maintainers who don't care what they are.

Some railfans never cease to amaze me with their audacity. I figured y'all'd see it when you came-out to test the crossing next anyways.
Such a big emergency when one bell dies. Send in the fire brigade and the marines.

@@sntjimmy062 That's good to know. I wonder why it didn't work on this activation then?
What people don't realize is these calls penalize these maintainers depending on the railroad. I know UP does this
