Nice Bike ❤ Got an R 100 GS 1989 in Back/ Yellow. Brakes are a good thing to improve, also postioning of feet rest and handle bar. Also the main stand is hard to handle. The rear suspension element is often not capable to do its job. Also the generator / regulation can be improved. Also added a little oil temp mechanical gauge. Nice strange little sexy bikes they are. With character and charisma. Sorry for my rusty english 😅❤
If a sidestand is all it took to put you off, then you probably didn't want it that much anyways? 😬 As an airhead owner, I can tell you that the stand is fine. If you wanna make it even more fine, put a rubber puck on the end of it. Means it get better traction and doesn't scrape so much while seating itself on the ground.

I had a quick look, I don't I'm afraid, it was just a little lump to provide some friction so the arm was less inclined to return straight back up.

Can you give some more information about the front break/disc? Where do you get one of these?
Just bought one. How do you modify the side stand?
To make the stand stay down I welded a small retaining stub to provide enough "grip" to hold it in position when fully down.
