Your hair at the roots turn faster not because your head is warm but because your roots are known as "virgin hair", which is basically your raw natural hair. The follicles of natural hair open easier to allow your natural colour to be lifted out by the chemicals usually in one go. Hair that has been dyed numerous times (ie the ends and mid parts of your hair) will always take numerous amounts of times to bleach as you are basically lifting layers and layers of colour from here. So the warm head thing is a myth :) good video tho!! x
Going blonde is like starting a relationship, take things slow and it should ( hopefully ) turn out ok. Rush into and pretty much it will turn out crap and won't last!! Not being negative just pointing across a different point.
this was stupendously helpful, thank you so much for making this! every other video I've watched warns about not bleaching your hair too much or it'll fall out but no one's said anything about gaging at what point you should be worried or given realistic advice on it. also thank you for being extremely specific in what every product wsa/what it did
Honestly, I have watched SO many videos on how to get from black to blonde and decided not to bother as it seemed too complicated, but this video has left me feeling confident. Although a couple of weeks ago, my friend bleached her hair and it all burnt off just below the roots. :(
You are so awesome for sharing your journey with us, thank you. You are much younger than I, I wanted to let you know how beautiful you are inside and out. Forget the haters as they have no happy life. Keep up the good work pretty girl!!
The brownish to red stage is normal for any bleaching process. If you have dark brown or red hair, it takes several applications to get all the pigment out. It's normal. What does Touch of Silver do? you said it made your hair silver? weren't you trying to go blonde?
you might not see this comment but you are one of the best people i decided to subscribe to. you're so lovely and i get so happy whenever you upload a video, thank you harley! ^_^
lol "whoa my voice just went American" XD I laughed and was like American.... Then started thinking about how people talk about Canadian accents and was like hmm haha (I'm Canadian xD)
Jayna Tremblay the roots go faster because its virgin hair. Has nothing to do with heat. Your virgin hair will catch the color quicker. If its dyed already you'll see your roots will be easily coloured because there no previous dye or chemicals.

krystina principe That's wrong, sorry.. The first time I dyed my hair the roots went way faster anyway. I'm not saying it doesn't have anything to do with virgin hair, I'm just saying it does have alot to do with heat.
Awww your so cute! And love your ice king painting! I have very black hair, dyed it probably 4 times this past year all dark brown that turned black so trying to find away to slowly lift it to put in a lighter colour! it is very tough!
Two days?!? Girl it’s taking me about a month because my hair literally doesn’t want to lighten. Omg if it only took me two days I’d be so happy! Lucky you!
The hair on top becomes blonder faster because its new, cus u havent dyed it that many times so the newest hair does not have as many red pigments as the ''old'' hair, (bottom). Red pigments is the reason why u get such intense orange color on the bottom hair, because u have dyed it dark over and over again (which makes it harder for u to become blonde) And dark colors have LOTS of redpigments, black is the worst. If u ever plan on becoming blonde again, do not dye black. Go for dark brown instead, that way u might not get as orangy results after bleaching at home.
Your roots develop faster because its a regrowth of hair aka virgin hair(hair that's never been colored, bleached blah blah blah) :) I do hair for a living and sometimes I have little mess ups too, so don't feel bad. From the pictures you showed it didn't look bad at all :)
You're very gorgeous ❤️️ by the way thanks for the tips, really big help. Now I know that I need to bleach first my hair before coloring it with dark blue 😊
How you said you went American, I've done that multiple times but I'm American and I go British its funny though lol. Good video I am now considering a toner. Thanks!
You are adorable =] The blonde pictures look nice, like a really nice shade of blonde. Just a tip though, be more confident on your videos!..... Well I've only seen this one, but still! I used to be blonde and I used to use some of the products you mentioned and they do deffo work, so just be confident when recommending them :-)
So I bleached my black hair dye out, it was every color imaginable after the first bleach, think I waited a week, then bleached again, it was dark orange, waited another week or two I believe then bleached again it was light orange, kept using shimmer lights once a week, then tried a high lift blonde. Made it a dark blonde orange yuck color, so then I tried wella ivory lady it made the blonde top a whiteish the rest was gray and orange. A week later I tried the wella silver lady I read the blue toner will get rid of orange, uhm kinda, but it was a gross grey even after few washes, so a couple weeks ago did a bleach bath to get all that out, it made it a bright orange and yellow, let it rest for a week then tried some loreal blonde box dye that said it gets rid of orange even had tons of reviews on amazon, nope! So yesterday I did my roots in front, then did roots in back today and spread a little on orangey spots, now my hair is mostly platinum at ends and top middle is a very light orange. Question is what the hell can I do? My hair is fried obviously, I've trimmed it twice, I do not want orange hair and I have tried everything!
Thank you so much :) ill definitely use your advice. As for the orangy thing... Well... I was stuck going to school for about a week before I could do something about it. I got so sick of seeing the orange and was too scared to rebleach, so I just dyed it black again (over a year ago) xD I'm planning to go platinum but silver sounds fun too. Thanks so much!!!!
i know i know it was stupid of me, just in all honesty i couldn't be dealing with roots, im so impatient and impulsive, i wish i didnt so it so fast :(
Try the brand Fudge it has the best Clean blonde silver shampoo I have ever found after 7 years of being ice blonde. You only have to leave it on for a few minutes its that amazing.
I love Lee Stafford products. I used it when I was platinum blonde. You can use this shampoo even if u are brown. It will give your hair shiny look. I know it Because my actual roots is dark :) and sometimes I put it on :)
i know your feels man, i just moved back to singapore from london and my hair is growing at literally twice if not three times the rate because of the soft water in singapore versus hard in london, and im chinese so my black hair has to be bleached 3 times minimum and it really cannot take it more than once a week, by which time theres already a little regrowth -.- its getting to the point i might have to give up :(
Good vid..easy to follow... All ither vids iv watched sound complicated and put me off lol...I'm gonna buy all the products to get started always wanted to try blonde an ppl put me off...1 question do you leave roots till last when bleaching or just pack it on lol x x
My hair is originally blonde but I dyed it black. And my roots are coming in horribly! What would I need to get my hair to your stage if I had only three days to do it??
Thanks for the video. :) Do you need the toner if you're wanting to dye your hair red after you've bleached it? I currently have red and black hair. but want it all a more vibrant red. I've on my second load of Colour B4. The red has gone ginger, which I'm fine with, but it's having a hard time shifting the black. It's just fading it to a slightly less black. I've used the Fashion Colours one and now I'm currently using the Extra Strength one. I'm apprehensive about bleaching it incase I go bald!

But why didn't you have blonde hair anymore when recording the video? ): I´ve tried to go blonde from pink hair, it kind of worked out, but it was too annoying to keep my hair blonde and the light blue hair dye kept staring at me, so... hahaha. Thanks for the video anyways.
I find Directions to be kinda shitty in anything they produce, I tried their lavender semi permanent hairdye and it washed straight out, didn't even leave a stain...
you have to tone it or else your hair turns yellow, you have to buy special purple shampoo and conditioner, you had to do your roots very often, and it's very damaging!
thanks for this!!! my hair is literally bright orange (i just bleached it) and i need to get it to some sort of decent colour by tomorrow :---( i've bleached it twice but i only used 10vol developer so aaah
I'm og the opposite opinion on silvers - I've tried all the provokes touch of silvers and they're just...no. Nowt. Directions is perfect, you're the first person i've heard saying Directions is naff :/ it works differently for different people I guess.
Slightly unrelated question.. how did you cut your hair so it comes to a point at the ends? One of my hair dressers did it once but then she quit and the next person screwed it up and no one can seem to get it.. I've tried cutting myself, its gotten a bit better but not much. Please help! I hate having my hair in a straight cut on the bottom, right now it looks a bit ridiculous because its a completely clean straight cut in some parts and copy in others.
I bought dollar tree black hair dye and it faded so fast today im getting purplish red with dark brown underneath i wanted black but the girl whos gonna do it said not too so yeah
Was your hair naturally black or had you dyed it before, I want to bleach my hair again but it's very damaged I bleached it over the summer and dyed it black again, any advice?
Last year from Summer till Christmas I dyed my hair a various amount of different colours, and a few weeks back I dyed it black. I want to have it blonde after the summer holidays, but my hair has been bleached so many times over the past months and is falling out at the ends that i'm quite scared to bleach it in a few months. I've got thick strong hair but it still concerns me that if i bleach it more than once in the same week that it will fall out, but I don't want to go around with orange hair! What should I do? .~.
Did you use color remover before bleaching? I dont want to go blonde but i want to do tge mermaid ombre thing. I have dyed permanent black hair...any thoughts? Thank you!
"Woah, my voice just went American." That made me laugh.

Thank you lovely hairdresser!
you are very welcome :D
Two days?!? Girl it’s taking me about a month because my hair literally doesn’t want to lighten. Omg if it only took me two days I’d be so happy! Lucky you!
i put my hair under quite a lot of stress though! i would not recommend it!
with most colours youll have to let it grow out :3 even if its a semi sometimes it does fade back completely nautral :) but i say go for it
I have REALLY dark Brown hair, almost black and have been wanting to go blonde, but have been scared, thank you.
Vendettis no problem, hope all went well for you xx
She's so lovely, Thank you for your help hun, very good video, very helpful. P.s Don't listen to any haters or negative people!

I do hair for a living and sometimes I have little mess ups too, so don't feel bad. From the pictures you showed it didn't look bad at all :)
Your roots go lighter as it has less dye on them compared to your ends, or just because it's newer hair and has less damage to it
You're very gorgeous ❤️️ by the way thanks for the tips, really big help. Now I know that I need to bleach first my hair before coloring it with dark blue 😊
your roots go lighter because its new hair, hasn't been dyed or if it has it will have been less dyed than the further down your hair has.
Is it just me or is she just incredibly adorable :x
How you said you went American, I've done that multiple times but I'm American and I go British its funny though lol. Good video I am now considering a toner. Thanks!
I definitely agree with this girl here, she summed it all up. Harley is probably my favorite person on this godforsaken site, LOL.

I find Directions to be kinda shitty in anything they produce, I tried their lavender semi permanent hairdye and it washed straight out, didn't even leave a stain...
I love your accent. I hope that's not too rude to say.
I love your Ice king poster!!!! Lol
thank you i painted it :)
Omg! That's awesome!!!!!!
HOLY SHIT YOUR ICE KING IN THE BACKGROUND
you have to tone it or else your hair turns yellow, you have to buy special purple shampoo and conditioner, you had to do your roots very often, and it's very damaging!
What if your hair is like a light brown? Can you still do those steps?
thanks for this!!! my hair is literally bright orange (i just bleached it) and i need to get it to some sort of decent colour by tomorrow :---( i've bleached it twice but i only used 10vol developer so aaah

After bleaching your hair blonde will your natural hair color ever come back
Only new hair that grows in will be your natural color. The hair you bleach will not change unless you color it.
