i think the badges are more like a drivers license type of thing, there isn't anything stopping you from owning a car or being in it without one but you need legal permission to drive one on the streets. so your pokemon can use fly all they like but to actually take you somewhere requires that you have the badge as proof of your responsibility
I like that idea a lot.
It gives a bit of much-needed realism to the Pokémon world.

Have you ever wondered why the Police does not do anything against those crime sindcate? It is because they are busy preventing illegal HM use.
Maybe the idea behind the gyms and HMs is kind of like a license thing. Each badge is a license to use an HM outside of battle, otherwise it's illegal? Shows you, as a trainer, are responsible enough to use that HM?
I dunno, it's a stretch.

In a randomizer, when a Pokémon is evolving, can you cancel the evolution if you don't like what you're getting and make it evolve later into something else?

Moveset: extreme speed, Aqua jet, fake out, and quick attack
Badges for moves outside of battle is (IMO) a legal issue. You *can* fly outside of battle without the badge, but as soon as you do, 50 police officers on hydreigon and golurk (who can fly canonically) fly up and tell you to stop resisting arrest.
The first time WAHEY! battled preschooler wayne, the game crashed when it said he (or she it looks like a lass maybe its transgender but who fucking knows or cares) used Sunflora. Then after the death of Roadpig (spoiler alert right there get trolled), Scykoh proceeded to fight Wayne once again. In a nuzlocke randomizer, even trainers' pokémon are randomized. The fact that it was sunflora again blows me away unless there is something I don't know about Pokémon Nuzlocke Randomizers.
BTW congrats from past Masta of Everything for making it here... but only if you read the stuff up there. HA! Past me knew you would skip ahead. I'm not THAT dumb you know.
Okay so I looked at this when I FINALLY finished writing it, and realized I made a typo and now I'm typing this and it's a living hell knowing that the video is right above me but it's paused cuz that's how it works (at least on mobile) and I'm SO glad I finished typing this. Past me's thumbs might fall off.

The badges are actually like a pilots license or a boating license and your character does not want to risk being arrested by the police and put under house arrest for the average length of 2 years.

In regards to the HM thing, maybe it's just illegal for unqualified Trainers to use them? So, your character isn't physically unable to use HMs, they just refuse to because that would be breaking the law.

With requiring badges to use HMs out of battle, I always thought they were like a driver's license with you not being able to use the moves out of battle because they would dangerous. For example, someone could drown if they tried to surf on the ocean and were unprepared. But anyways love the vid, and look forward to seeing the next one!

Like, things like surf fly and strength can be potentially dangerous, so warning a gym badge shows you have the strength/cooperation with your pokemon to be able to use them without dying?

At least four times during this series, I''ve thought "Wow, if Scykoh's such an expert why did he just mispronounce that Pokémon's name?" Then I look it up on Bulbapedia and it turns out the name is just not pronounced how it looks. Almost like these games are made by Japanese people!
I always pronounced, and probably will continue pronouncing, Groudon and Kyogre as "groo-don" and "kee-ogre" because it sounds less ugly. (Also I thought Dialga was dee-alga a few years ago.)
