Funny that an abandoned doll house is so accurate to a real abandoned house.
For the fascia timbers on that house, you can get a bundle of coffee stirring sticks that are perfect mini planks of wood that are easy to snip to size! I like that dollshouse! We apparently still had an Anderson shelter here when my parents first moved here. I love repair projects 😁 One thing I will say is that my house was built in 1938 and the white and black checker tiles were all over the place! So 1930s-1950s is my guess 😉 I think the name is "The Leas" which is a house name I have seen before!
I believe you are correct about the name being "The Leas". In fact "The Leas" was the name of Mr Eshtons house in the novel "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte!
@@victoriacook8536 kate will go wild at the bronte connection!!!
You can never have too many doll houses! Looking forward to the remaking of a gem.
Agree 100%. I only have around 50. I'm still building. 😊
What a great find, and that you resqued this poor dollshouse, but it is now in a house with lots of love for it!! ❤️❤️🏚️🏠
The nursery wall paper looks like pages from a child's book. Loves
I have a wartime house created in a house I had from a uk auction and shipped to canada. Love that era
This is how it happens. You get one dollhouse, think you are done, and suddenly you have several houses, none of which will ever be truly "finished" because you always find things to add. It's the best hobby ever! Your new house is lovely, congratulations on your purchase and I am excited to see what you do with it.
IMHO..... a great addiction to have. I readily admit to my addiction.
Just like a real house cleaning and remodeling
You have lots of lovely paper and things to redo it. It'll be fun and wonderful as usual. 🥰🥰
Thank you for saving this beauty. You will made "it" proud👍❤
I could watch you do these kinds of things for hours!! I"m looking forward to all the future videos!
It is so wonderful the way you see the beauty in something that so many would not. It is fascinating how you can transform this.
Exactly!!!
This will be a fun journey to watch as you create your wartime home…..TFS 🫶🏻🇨🇦☺️
I am so happy yo adopted this sweet house! I can't wait to see what you do with her!
I picture a soldier on leave from the war front. Maybe knocking on the front door or hugging his mum or kids. Making a uniform would be amazing!
You're going to make it beautiful. Enjoy!
Such a sweet little house. Lots of work ahead which will be wonderful to watch. I love your wallpaper behind the little house. Thank you.
The wallpaper looks like a William Morris creation. x
Oh my what an amazing Dollshouse - it's going to be quite a project! I started off with my old childhood dollshouse and now have 4 that I'm restoring! It's lovely that you restore them together ♥
This is going to be so much fun watching y’all rehabilitate this house. Can’t wait.
So excited for a wartime interior, the dump dolls will be interesting if you choose to include them. I hoped you would get another dolls house.
The new doll house is super! All the things y’all suggested sound wonderful! I am looking forward to seeing the results!!
A fun and challenging project!
The fireplace may never have had a mantle. Some didn’t starting in the 1940’s and after - the modern style, right? Dad had to get clever with ours, creating wooden pieces that could be temporarily pressed between the bricks, so we would have a place to hang the stockings at Christmas. 🙂
Very cute house. Sounds like a fun project to do it up as a 1940s war time house.
I'm so proud of you ladies for saving this treasure. I can't wait to see you turned it to gold.
Thx for sharing these moments with us. I feel like I have stopped by and you are cosily showing me your newest exciting treasure. Next we have tea and throw around ideas for it. Like neighborly enthusiasts.
An exciting project a war time house. My favorite style of decorating is the 1940s farm houses here in the States. My mother grew up in the 1940s. Looking forward to this project very much I think because my mother was a child then and as a child I was in and out of that house that my Grandparents built in the 1940s.
Queen City Minis (here on UA-cam) recently did a great little tutorial on making a 1:12 washboard with brush and tub! I thought I'd mention it, maybe it could be helpful.
What a great sad/newly happy house this is! Totally understand that you couldn't leave it behind in the antique store. I can't wait how you are going to make it look. I love the 40's theme, it'll be splendid! ❤
I just watched that. She did an amazing job
What a little raw diamond you found. Nobody could bring it so good to a new life than you. I’m waiting for the next chapter of this cute doll house.
I love ❤️ your childlike spirit ...sooo much fun watching you
I hope that you were wearing a mask tho while sweeping out the inside dirt / nest ...
Stay safe and healthy
I don't know why an antique store would sell something without cleaning it out.
What a bargain!! Looking forward to seeing its metamorphosis. Think that spare bit of wood that came with it might be from under the roof?
Nice that the house has a name. Great project.
I am so pleased you have saved this little house. Don't forget most houses had a picture rail in every room and also paper stripes of design on top of the wallpaper. Can't think what you call it. As to the rail I think I can hear my mum talking about a dado rail? going around the room. When I was young I had lino in my bedroom and a mat to step on beside the bed. When you said wartime house I thought you would have to make gas masks and don't forget the boxes people had to wear with them in. Always brown paper covered. I don't think they had stone cladding on the front of house at that time. Mums bungalow was built in 1937 and they had pebble dashed walls on the front and back. O this is going to be exciting I can see......
what a divine house, I am so excited to follow you as your bring it to life. I look forward to your videos.
I love the look the windows & doors are fitted perfectly!
If you Google '1940s dollshouse UK' you will see a lot of houses very similar to yours, brick paper and stone paper included. I think so much of the house made from cardboard speaks to rationing when wood was needed for the war effort. So I think you're off to a good start. I build dollhouses almost exclusively from cardboard and foam board, including furniture. So I am really looking forward to watching this project. Its definitely 1/12 scale
I love the vacuum with the face on! When we went on a trip to London about 10 years ago there was one in our boarding house and my son LOVED it. I think it was named Henry? Awww memories…
Henry the hoover
We have quite a few 1930 houses near where i live and they look like this dolls house. So I'm guessing this little house is based on that time. I will be very interested to see how the repairs go. Poor thing needs a bit of tender loving care and it will look beautiful. Filled to the brim with hand crafted treasures along with ready made furniture you can source. You certainly like to keep yourselves busy don't you ladies.
Enjoy, because i know i certainly will. X
Wow that is beutiful, cant wait to see its progress, I love it, I love the beams on the ceiling and the scraps and kitchen floor and bedroom walpaper and the scraps, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
It looks like a lot of fun to be had. Good luck, I know you'll have a great time !
A fixer upper 😊nice project
Can’t wait to see what it will become 🌼have fun decorating and making it amazing
Greetings from California
Have just found your podcast and I’m so excited, I have 2 houses,1 I was given by my family for my 50th birthday, which I have fitted out, but not quite finished, the other one I was given about 8 years ago and have done nothing with it, I have things in for it, but have know one to share my hobby with, until now, after watching your podcast, I can’t wait to get started fixing it, thank you for sharing, looking forward to your next podcast sending blessings from Scotland
Its going to look fantastic xx
Awe.... Fleur and Kate, this little abode earnestly, yet ever so gently plucks at the heartstrings. It was waiting for you to bring life back to it, so it can be loved again. A sweet project indeed. (*V*)
Looks like there's some work (and fun) ahead for you! Can't wait to see you you do with this new house.
Cool redo doll house! 🙂
It's beautiful! What a find, I love the wallpaper. I can't wait to see what you do with it. 😊
I love this house, it was built with love and a small child once adored this little house, I think it’s designed as a later 30’s house and most likely build in the 40’s
I was thinking 1930s house too, I live a 1930s built house. Maybe watch a house through time or back in time for dinner from the bbc they have done the war time.
You 2 just HAD TO GO and do it! Just couldnt resist. Bought another dollhouse..Well YAY how much fun! Sunny cracked me up..looked but didnt even try to get in..1st time I ve seen him NOT give his stamp of approval. It was like he gave a thumbs down and meowed Its just too dirty for me. He might come back for a 2nd look now that you cleaned it. Happy making and hunting for it. Fleur I really like the new papers you have picked out.
So exciting, I can't wait. Thanks for sharing 👍
What a lovely project 😍
6:04 I would make an grandfather's clock out off this piece of wood 😅
So exciting, what a labor of love!
absolutely love it, and especially the little bit at the end with the superimposed interiors! can’t wait to see what you do
I Love the sad dollhouse. I have one or two myself ❤️🥰
How sweet that some little mouse mama, made this her home, she gave birth in a little nest she made in the parlor and raised her little babies in this little house.
Can't wait to follow along with the progress on this wonderful home.
I love the idea of a 1940s blitz house. The wallpaper does see to be from that era especially the figural design. The people seem more like 1950s people. In fact it looks as if the jumped out of the reading books I used in grade school way back in the 1950s.
My mom was in her 20s in the 1940s . She worked in a bomber factory in Michigan . Here in the US many homes we equipped with modern appliances. You could review the 1940’s house series to get some ideas. I
so happy you're giving this home a new lease on life - I wonder who will be moving in after it's remodel?
Old magazines are a good source for info on the forties.
This house reminds of one that i played with in the attic when i was a child in the 80 's, especially the red brickpaper and the roof paper. No idea where it came from or where it went but it brings up a lot of nostalgia. ❤
So wonderful❤
Absolutely spiffing xx brilliant bit of entertainment xx can't wait to see it flourish!!
You said “OOPS “ in the title for this incredible new/old doll house! Nope! I would have been screaming….”WE FOUND A HOUSE!” 😂😂 this is going to be so exciting to watch you bring this back to life, you both are so amazing in how you create things, stoves, beds, cabinets, pictures, dolls!! Personally I can’t wait for you to get started!! It’s going to be magnificent!
i love that house above all
I think that your ideas will work very well in this house. Balanced design and colors will make it all work together. Also more pets and small children. Why not triplets!. I know ‘didn’t intend “,
Epic find! Might you consider taking us along when you venture into your Antique shops & Charity shops ? I for one would love to experience your outings in brick & mortar shops.
GREAT Idea..thx for thinking of asking them. I had wondered about it too and thought it would be loads of FUN! But didnt think of asking them to do it.
Cracking idea, that would be great.
Sunny took one look and started cleaning his foot next he stuck his tongue out. The new house does not impress him! You both will make it cute.
Can’t wait to see what you do with this project….looking forward to final results
Love the wall papers
My grandmother had a washer in the 1940’s… My grandparents lived in a train box car at the time. All the workers lived in them at that time. My grandfather worked for the railway. This is the US.
Wow - thanks for sharing this interesting info on your family & how railroad personnel lived - I had no idea! I wasn’t born till 1954 in USA, so this is all fascinating…
Another wonderful project ! It almost makes me think about building one❤
A lot of 40s houses I researched had bay windows, dark green trims, brick , cream.
I can envisage a lovely dolls house in your talented hands.
It reminds me of some flats that students have lived in to attend university. But the year is over, and everyone has headed home for the holidays. Their parents have picked up all the furniture they took from home and being students no one cleans up. The owner needs to bring in the commercial cleaners and handy men to fix any damage before it can be rented again the next year.
That's a big job you are taking on. But as usual, it will be a labour of love.
I found a gorgeous wee plate with a picture of a house on it for you, opshoping last week. Where do I post it to.
I got that one my dad made from hobby magazine back in the day 1965and I had plastic furniture it was the the in thing in the 2o14 I had it redun by doll house shop who became good friends of ours sadly they are gone now but love my house
Oh my goodness!! I love it 😀
My last apartment I had done all 1940s and my new (1911) kitchen still is. Furniture-wise, everything was 1930s or earlier, very faded and limp looking. But you have to have a radio!
All the best with your new project. Can't wait to see how you work your magic on it . I think you should get it structurally sound as a first step. You may want to look at that BBC program where they took a modern family and placed them in a war time house , for inspiration. I believe it was called turn back time.
This looks like a good project from a post war house. The door should be the the same height as the windows, which would even the front up. Am looking forward to watching what you do with this one. Thank you
Very neat doll house, they had many prints of wall paper in the 40s. I think the whole thing is 40s.
I am so excited that you are making a 1940s wartime house. My dolls house is wartime decorated and it will be great to see what you come up with , can’t wait. The actual house is a Robert Stubbs , I’ve found dressing it quite challenging as you have to be careful not to drift into the late forties early fifties as during the war of course certain things were not available. You are going to have such fun x
Cant wait to see how the house developes.
Fleur I look forward to your renovations on your latest acquisition. Your experience, patience, talent, and interpretations are superb. Make it yours take the lead x
I love it.
Tiny pictures of film stars on the wall.
At least you don't have to worry about the plumbing and electrics :)
New to your channel. Can’t wait to see what you will do to this dollhouse. Carol from California, USA
Your brave even sunny cat want stay with 😂😂😂😂
Exciting project to follow with you! I wonder if it would work to photograph a good section of the inside or outside paper then try to print out sheets of it to renew as it was? And an Anderson shelter containing basic needs sounds intriguing too. Can't wait! If you make a garden wall, don't forget that any decorative metal railings on the tops were removed for the war effort to aid manufacture of war supplies, ditto a lot of metal toys and kitchen goods. Must have been vey distressing all round. I was born in 1948 and remember the circles of concrete on the tops of all our walls along the Victorian terrace. Such a shame.
The dolls house looks like my flat when I moved in 25 years ago, and squatters had been in here....nightmare! 😅 I would replace the cardboard roof parts and window frames with balsa wood. Very easy to cut.
That is so exciting, I feel it needs wallpaper and fabric designed especially for it. 😊 Pearsall’s we’re in business until a few years ago but sadly no longer.
You could make paper Mache to fix the outside!
🙋♀️❤ Yes! I'm sure the wall paper was around in the early to mid 1950s! Probably put up in the late 1940s! Have fun!
Gonna be great ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have a whole unopened kit of dolls house paper, my dad was going to make me one but never had the time, the packaging is a bit tatty but it has wall, floor and roof, plus interior designs and dates from the early 70's I think. Would you like it? I'm happy to post it on as it should be used not left to ruin and I will never use it. xx
There is nothing wrong with make do n mend , my real size house is hand me down city and I'm proud of it !!!
This looks like 1950s to me
It already looks better. Just think some little girl played with this for hours at a time. During war time it may have been her main or only toy. Also didnt they have blackout shades for the windows. It will be fun for you all and fun for us too.
I would date this house from 1917-1920, due to its resemblance to the Addison style (cheap, unadorned and in the Arts-and-Crafts style).
You might be able to reconstruct the pattern of the wallpaper on the door and put new paper on it. It is in better condition than the poor Tri-ang that I found in the garage where the plastic roof was cracked, the electrics rusted and the plywood of the upstairs ceiling warped beyond repair.
You could make a mantelpiece out of balsa wood and a lollipop stick - I've done that with a modern 24th scale house that I need to complete. Jane Harrop has a couple of books out on making 1930's/40's miniatures and a book on making miniatures from the Edwardian era - I would think that there would be a lot of bits around from then. The World of James Herriot has a reconstruction of a 40's farmhouse kitchen in the museum.
Hello ladies good potential on new house I would change out the wall paper as well where was it stored
I have one of those dollhouse I had when I was 7 years old I am now 38 years old I am going to make all the furniture and all the other stuff in Tudors style I can not what to start on it
