Hello from Belize and Guatemala. This definitely one of the best setup I have seen on a 79 Series. The interior is immaculate. Thanks for the inspiration.
Whooop whooop - that is a very nice rig and well thought and built with some personal touches! The engine bay is 10/10 with choices of GSL mods! The one and only thing I would not have spent money on is the CellFiGo - would have put the $1500 towards a Starlink modified to work while driving and thus you have full voice and internet cover across Oz on the move and draws about 2.5ah Rob, awesome build 🙏🙏✅✅❤️❤️ Now for the Crispy’s build!! 😊
The charger keeps draining the cranking batteries because most VSRs cut off at 12.8v, which is too low for lithium batteries. By the time a lithium battery drops to 12.8v, it's already 60% discharged. Simple solution is to get a adjustable VSR.
You are right normally, because it has 2 cranking batteries it does not drop in the supply from the batteries to the DC charger in the canopy. A normal battery will drop in supply when you switch the ignition off, the DC unit in the canopy will then cut the draw from the battery. With the two lithium under the bonnet it has so much power. It does not drop in power as such the DC unit in the canopy does not see a drop so it keeps drawing the batteries under the bonnet until they are flat.
Amazing how a large car company can engineer and build such an expensive car and cannot put a working handbrake. Must be the same engineer that designed my jeep wrangler handbrake
I’ve just spent way too many hours rewiring all of my own work, where I’ve added accessories etc over time, to my old GU coil cab. N I mean lots of hours! Just a fiddly job to do properly. That 79 is a really nice rig, but mate, for the money you’ve obviously spent, that nest of wiring around your batteries is way below par, compared to the rest of your vehicle. Personally, I’d be thinking, if someone has done that much of a nest of cables, there’s a good chance something isn’t fused correctly, or even cables are badly routed and prone to a dead short over time. Probably I’m wrong, and I’m not taking the piss. Lie I said, that’s a really nice 79. But for something so important to ur vehicle, and something that’s potentially dangerous, I’d be sussing out and tidying up that shitshow. 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺
charging,???..its a diesel,,it doesnt use the alt.. your system is powered wrong if you have trouble with it.. 1, 5000w inverter, 2 , 150amp lipo batts, 3, 250w pnls, heaps..
you know,,if you put real, decent steel leafs,, ontop, of the diff instead of under,, they would be flater, better ride, sht load more travel. &, youd only need 5 or 6.. not fkn 10.. like say from a ford dodge chev truck.. & the shackle system , mount,,is better..
hydraulic brake booster.. fk me.. ITS A HYDRO BOOST, !!... been around for decades.. should of fitted one from a ford, dodge, chev... toyotas need all the breaking help they can get..
79.. pro,s.. non.. cons. rear diff 100mm too narrow,,12k fix.. suspension, no travel, maybe 6''.. starter, hidden, somewhere.. alt, too low.. ride, like a pogo stik.. room, non existant.. noise level, WHAAT. noise level, OH,,YEHH.. people buy these for the v8 diesel. nothing else. its too small to be a v8 diesel. plus, a 6 cyl has more power.. cheaper, easier to work on, lighter, more economical. best thing ever about a 79, 76, v8 toyota,, ILL NEVER OWN ONE. toyota lost the plot back with the 60 to 80 series.. they left out features of the 60. on the 80, only real upgrade was longer wheel base, sadly missing on the 60, & coils. there is one upside to owning a 79,, I DONT.
You can just comment once not 12 times, you did just watch a 35minute video on a 79, so maybe just maybe hear me out. Bugger off and don't watch a video with "79 series Landcruiser" in the title. You type like you have literacy problems, go buy your F truck I don't think anyone actually cares. People with money can buy what they want LMAO.
??.. bit more power,,fk me,,if it had 800 hp,,you,d want more.. 250 hp is heaps.. its a 4x4, not a drag car.. its torque,,not hp.. 6.7 ford f250, 800 hp, 1250 lbft. just saying, std..if you need more power,,you bought the wrong vehicle..fact..
oooohhhh,,, cant fit 35,s 315, std.. pos..plus they,d wreck your economy,, more.. i can fit 36x15.5x16. no probs.mtz.. ARB bullbar ??,,&.??..alloy is stronger.. lighter..[ more economical]..
This is by far the best looking tray and canopy

Outstanding build, one of the best I’ve ever seen! Can’t wait to join you boys on a trip. Especially with an air-fryer and toaster on board😜. P2

Nice looking truck. Let's vote NO to The Voice because we will need permission to travel to these remote location's 😞
No to APARTHEID
Proper wired wouldn’t need a shunt switch, should the canopy dc charger shutoff when senses a voltage change?

rapter coating...did they spray the inside of chassis.. cos that,,is bare steel..
They coated it with a rust product + it was coated with a oil coating also. Will need to get a once over every few years

@@robertjennings1612 ok 👍🏾 thanks for reply. I’m 6ft4 so it might be to tight for me
