Basically, you draw a butterfly in pen, doesn’t have to be big, or detailed. dont harm until the butterfly fades away, if it does, redraw it. and so If you self harm, you kill the butterfly. It’s worked for me, there’s other methods as well such as ice on the skin or drawing lines in red pen. a more morbid (?) way of thinking is thinking of the butterfly as someone you care about, if you harm yourself you harm them.
