Why does Cummins allow you to rebuild some of their engines? They were used before New Holland had anything to do with Case AND Cummins has their own reman facilities. Therefore, it would make more sense if they took care of the reman process and quality themselves since it is their name on the engine and not CNH's.

A dealership can also rebuild cnh engines but most of the time with labour costs it is cheaper or not much dearer to buy recon, biggest reason people go for recon is you basically get a complete new engine where rebuild is generally just pistons, rings, bearings and gaskets, if you want cylinder head rebuild than that's and extra cost.. but all depends on why the engine needs rebuilding

The "Cummins" engines used by CNH are the result of a Cummins-J.I. Case "joint venture" that began in the 1970s. Specifically the B- and C-series engines. When Case's 401 and 504 engine tooling was worn out and Case was broke and had been acquired by Tenneco the joint venture began because those engines were obsolete and not worth retooling for. Case construction equipment used the Bs and Cs prior to the Case-IH "merger" which resulted in Navistar "IH" engines being "spun off" with International Trucks. C-IH tractors have always had "Cummins" engines that do NOT say Cummins on them.

Cummins does not remanufacture engines. It "reconditions" them.

It would be nice if i could find a company that would install the better internals i need to prepare my motor for a turbo... it would kill 2 birds with one stone. as of now i would need to buy a remanufactured motor and then disassemble it all over again

Just buy a core engine and have a machine shop do all the cleaning and dirty work for you and then they or you can install the parts you want in it. That would be a more logical and much cheaper route...

Buy a short block assembly to your specs, then bolt on the heads, manifolds, and go!
(I mean, after all, you're already going to be literally installing this engine. So, bolting some heads and manifolds onto a short block before you put it in ain't no big deal.)

High volume rebuilders generally want nothing to do with high performance stuff since there's no way they could warranty it. The minute you disassemble a remanufactured engine on your own you're voiding the warranty. There are specialized shops that can do the sort of work you're talking about, but don't expect a warranty from them either.
