Issue ius what they don't understand is that you can have a spectrum of these mentalities, the fact we have to lable these things rather than accepting them as normal just shows the bias we have for the binary. So, when you get something like Ranma 1/2 where the character's whole shtick of swapping sexes on the fly is treated casually and as just part of who they are. It's really refreshing, especially cause, yeah, if my pals had that 'curse' A... we wouldn't see it as a curse... and B we're totally gonna keep knocking eachother into the river just cause.

Rumiko Takahashi is the queen of humor. Still makes me die of laughter over 30 years after Ranma was first released.
The remake has been doing a great job of not over-exaggerating Akane's tsundere-ness like the original did.
