Mad props to the spotter around the 5:08 mark, really taking care of the mats and generally creating a conducive environment for a focused climb. Not all heros wear capes!
This video gave me goosebumps it was so well shot. I hope eric gets some recognition on how well he makes these videos. True inspiration for my climbing career
Dude, awesome editing at 5:05, timed the drop in the music perfect to when Nikken goes for the hold and then simultaneously all your gear starts blowing around like he's some force of nature XD
Absolutely worth the wait. That opening montage looks amazing, you really captured the beauty of that scenery. Absolutely captivated by Nikken's battle with that traverse (the wind blast and music timing was great). Shame about the conditions and the off day, but really impressive for Nikken and Adin to stay to the bloody end!
I apologize to all viewers for not sending
I wasn't sure how I felt about 3 videos of non-sendage, but, this is a great series on the reality and pain of actual bouldering with mortals, and pretty much how many of my sessions go, so in that light it's pretty cool. Very well shot, loved the sudden wind gusting and near-epic send of Nikken, and the crazy power pulling you did on that compression line.
And of course, you'll go back and nail it first try next time.
Easy to feel disappointed, but when you leave skin on the rock you can't really be faulted for not trying hard enough! Especially after the crazy beta you were doing on that traverse.
May sound worn-out, but for me its about the process and not about the result. Pretty nice 7c+ btw.
Lol... dude you guys gave it your all. That's all we can ask for. Sick effort nice series.
Very epic video, it was cool to have these movies spread out a little bit to become really curious about the end. I was screaming encouragements to Nikken from my Monday morning breakfast couch! Well done Erik, epic climbing Nikken and Aden
Thanks man, and thanks for the feedback on timing of the episodes. We're always trying to present things in the way that's most interesting for you guys
I've never felt the need to mentally encourage someone so much as I have this send
Super beautiful shots well done!
Awesome video once again guy!
Props Nikken! Good attitude I know you really wanted it man!
Loucas St-Cyr Thanks man! definitely something that I've been working on :)
You can’t always win every time out of the gate (or the chalk bag)…its being in the game that matters most. Failed attempts today lead to successful sends tomorrow! And I’ll say this…even in your failed attempts, you looked great in the efforts!
Eric please come to New Zealand!!! I will even give you a free scuba diving course for some climbing tips lol. Keep up the great work dude you, Nikken and the crew are seriously helping my climbing so much with these Vlogs!!!
Proud of you guys for crushing it ;) Great trip!
This is done well. would love to see more outdoor climbing
2:49 Wind = Bass-boosted Nikken voice
Amazing vids Eric keep em coming, you guys should come to Squamish BC next and boulder here!!!
Eric, I'm very impressed with the video quality! Keep stuff like this coming!! (and it's totally fine if you put out a video that's slightly sub-par. We're climbers, not critics) :)
Did you guys do any other activities while in Colorado? Maybe check out the local hobbies?
This is just a suggestion, but you guys should do videos that would help us get to know the crew better! maybe vlogs of when you aren't climbing, interviews, etc. Otherwise, you're doing a phenomenal job with the videos Eric! They are a huge source of climbing motivation for me, and it's just really fun to watch a group of friends climb together! :D
I thought the yelling/grunting in the song was Nikken making those noises hahahaha XD.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of hoodie Nikken is wearing?
Todd Piedad It's a hoodie from Weekday, I think it's there standard heavy cloth hoody :)
Hey guys, do you know the name of that latter you were using by chance?
xclimb or something like that? if you search telescoping ladders it should come up. it's actually under the ownership of Jackie now, but from the brief time we used it it seemed pretty good. heavy af though haha
Thanks for the info, dude! I'll have to talk to jackie! Me and a few friends will be up there on the 16th! Hope to see you around.
I was looking for the songs... Cant find them in spotify, epidemicsound.com or youtube (for examples). Could someone help me out plz? ;)
Ugivara San hey man, they are from epidemic, can find the songs in the description :)
Yeah thx, I just found them on that website. Unfortunatly they arent released for public use (outside the website) -.-
Can you do an episode with bird sounds and whale noises next time?
Watching this makes me cold
12:10, Nikken looks like a weird purple yoda
Whew I was worried about you for 24 hours there
Upload pleaseeeeeee
am I just old...everyone is in puffies, but the climbers are shirtless...and fellas, quit looking at your hands...
Shirtlessness is not a choice, it is a way of life. And there's nothing like icy winds against the bare skin to get you hyped up for a reckless send burn. Hand-looking lmao. No combatting that I'm afraid.
If you are the real Kipp Trummel, thanks for all your work at the Red dude! Don't remember specifics but I think I've been on some of your classics before. I have a distinct association of quality with the Trummel name.
The positive: I've watched maybe two dozen of your videos, and generally enjoyed all of the content. Footage is consistently good and of good quality, and the content and climbs are engaging. Keep up the amazing work!
The negative: the excuses for the falls are non stop, and they never fault the climber. I understand wanting to stay positive, but it's always some outside force's fault for falling. The wind is too strong, I just popped, my fingers are numb, etc. I don't say this boastfully, but I did Bruce Lee, V10 in Ibex Utah in 5 degree Fahrenheit temps wearing wool socks in my climbing shoes, three pairs of pants, two shirts, a sweater, and a giant down coat. The point is, if I had just made excuses about why I didn't send on the first few goes, I would have just been fooling myself about what I needed to do to send.
Keep up the good work guys and safe travels.
Not sure I found the right Bruce Lee? Looks like absolute choss. Disses of your proudest ascent aside, I don't see much validity in the critique you offer here. I know what kinds of things I say after falling, and luckily we have some of them recorded in this very series!
On Kind Traverse I blame a lack of fitness, poor beta, and poor execution. Nikken makes similar mention of being pumped and not having his foot movements wired. On Whispers, I predict that I am not a good enough climber to send rapidly. After falling I explain that I wasn't able to do the central move from the ground, didn't have the body positions figured out, in short didn't really have much of a chance of completing the boulder that day. Where are the "outside forces"? These aren't excuses, they are honest assessments of what went wrong with each attempt in our limited time frame. None of us lives in CO. We don't have the luxury of long-term projecting.
I've heard the "stop making excuses" mantra before, and it's clear you consider yourself some sort of paragon of honest self-assessment at the boulders. Out of curiosity, what exactly are you referring to when you describe how your piercing introspection allowed you to recognize what you "needed to do to send"? Anyway, as they say, when all you have is a hammer everything starts to look like a nail. I just don't think the lessons in self-mastery you learned from Bruce are relevant in this scenario. I hope you get the chance to tell your story again some time soon to someone who will actually benefit from hearing it.
Let me know your thoughts. I have some free time this evening and would be happy to chat!
Adin Warner-Rosen that's some long winded hostility. The Park is tough. Along with the humility you learned up there, maybe try some on here when you "represent" a channel. I'm sure Eric is looking for more thumbs ups and views than alienating people in little pissing matches because you felt offended by someone's comments.
Oh shit you responded! But then I clicked the "Read more" and was sorely disappointed. That's it? No actual reaction to anything I wrote? What a shame man!
The Park isn't all that tough in my experience. I've sent more there in short periods of time than many other areas I've visited.
And now you feel alienated? Nooooooo! That wasn't my goal at all! I just found what you wrote irrelevant, and slightly self-serving, and decided to let you know. I was counting on a level of sensitivity from you that would permit assimilation of honest feedback. It would appear I miscalculated :(
I'm sensing that you have a very inaccurate perception of me as a climber. I'm not some cocky gym-rat expecting instant success outdoors. I've had an extremely long climbing career, especially given my age, full of failures, disappointment, and some success. I have a pretty good idea of what I can and cannot send, and I'm thankful every time I reach the top :)
Have yourself a lovely evening, jlehm. I'm sorry this hostility exists between us now, I have great distaste for any serious drama brewing in UA-cam comment sections. I just enjoy reading critical comments and responding in kind. But maybe I overestimate what most people can take in jest.
That being said, I don't plan on changing one bit :)

What a night it has been! pretty much was done at 1, premier pro crashed, lost everything and had to restart, but managed to put everything back in order again and im really excited about the video! super stoked on the music and the timing of the elements in one of the pushes from nikken, lets see if you will noticed it too ! :D
Was it the wind bass booster with the song at 5:04? Because that was epic haha
yes!!! :D i had saved this song for such a long time now, for the right moment, and tonight it happend :D
So glad! This was such a high quality video cinematography and editing wise, even if the conditions weren't ideal.
Thanks man
I actually appreciate that there were no sends, but still made for a great video! I just came back from a trip to Priest Draw, AZ and wasn't able to send any of my projects, and was feeling bummed. Even though we all know it happens to everyone, it's nice to actually see a video that isn't just sends, but actually shows the battle that happens trying to get that send, even if you don't. Great work all! Thanks for the continued inspiration!
