My grandmother taught me to sew at 7 yrs old. I loved sewing n at age 9 I won first place in my state. I ended up making most of my clothes till I graduated. I now at age 65 sew, crochet, paper crafts, vinyl, n also wood projects from mostly pallet wood. 😊

Over 60 years ago, my grandmother taught me hand embroidery and sewing. From there, I was hooked. In elementary school, I took some bark chips from a tree that was cut down and created a 2D dog. It was selected to be hung in Brook’s Memorial Art Gallery in Memphis. What an honor for a child. I continued sewing many of my own clothes, as well as making and selling little girls dresses. I then taught myself to knit, crotchet, needlepoint, and basketweaving. Now, I make customized glittered epoxy tumblers, and vinyl shirts and home decor. I’m thankful that my grandmother took the time to introduce me to creativity!
Thank you, Bethany, for your continued inspiration.

May first craft was purchased for me by my grandmother when I was 5 years old. She bought me a paint by number picture of a horse head. That started it all as I am 73 now and still crafting. I still have that picture too. Love your videos.

My first craft I remember was painting a long flower garden on a roll of paper. I must have been 6. Then, 40 years later when my parents downsized, we found it! My mom had saved it all those years, & I was an avid gardener at the time. Who would have guessed?

First craft was probably a teddy bear I sewed 🧵 for a Christmas gift for a friend in 7 th grade. Not the prettiest of bears but she was so impressed I made it and felt so special I would make something for her.

My first successful craft was making a scrapbook for each of my brothers with things about and pictures of my dad after he passed away. They turned out so beautiful!
I wasn’t really that successful at it again until my husband bought me my Cricut in 2021! Now it’s so much fun!

My elementary school teacher taught me to knit when I was in 3rd grade. I struggled with asthma and often wasn't allowed outside for recess. She taught me so I would have something to do while others were playing. I still love to knit and was able to pass the skill on to my daughter. She has her own Etsy shop!

There were always the little ornaments and things I made at school. But what really got me into crafting was my grandma. In the house my grandparents used to live in, they had a gigantic attic, and she had a huge craft room up there. I would go over once a week, have dinner with them, and then she and I would go up into the attic. I'd scrapbook with her or while she worked on something else. I always had craft supplies accessible to me and my own little stash at home. But it really kicked off once I discovered the cricut. And now I have my own giant craft room lol and I still visit my grandparents on almost a weekly basis

I do so many different crafts, but I started with crocheting when I was eight years old. Most of my cousins were about fifteen years older than I was. When one of my cousin's wife had a baby, I crocheted the hat, booties, sweater, and blanket. I guess I was nine years old at the time.

I can't remember a time when I didn't craft. One of my favorite was in high school. My friends father was terracing his sloped backyard with bricks he salvaged from demolition sites. A lot of them came from the roads in my hometown. I got a brick and painted it gold as a gift to him. I was pleased when he worked it into his patio.

My first crafting adventure was covering the old style photo albums with fabric. I made a bunch of them and even signed up for a craft show to sell them and make a million dollars! Oh was I mistaken, didn't sell a single one! I remember being so disappointed but I still have some of those albums and cracks me up when I look at them!

I just found your videos and I'm can't believe I hadn't found them earlier. Your design ideas are SO fabulous. Your videos & projects are wonderful and easy to learn from. Plus they are so "soft" and pleasant to listen to. (No harsh music, hype and advertising.) I just want to go back and listen to all the other things you've done! LOL
I've been crafting for almost 70 years....(I might have just given away my age!) I can't even remember my earliest projects because there were so many, but I remember doing "Paper Dolls"! Does anyone else remember Paper Dolls??? I have not even thought about them in forever! OMG- I just looked on Amazon and there are even vintage paper doll cut out books on their site! How funny!
I''ve only had a Cricut for about a year so there's still lots to learn. I laugh when my daughters say "Mom, it's so good for your brain!" and they are right. So I hope to keep on crafting for a long time. MW

I started sewing my own clothes at age 12 and continued well into adulthood. I also made a lot of my boys' clothes; Stretch & Sew had just come out. I crocheted a lot of afghans and clothes. I think the very first craft I made was a "sit-upon" in Girl Scouts. We used oilcloth and a blanket stitch to make a pouch, attached a handle, and used newspaper as a cushion to "sit upon" when camping! Fun memories from the '50s.

My first craft was so long ago that I don’t really remember. But it was either crocheting or making paper flowers. I do remember that I went to a shop and took a class on making poinsettias. The paper I use was a stretchy paper that could be stretched to get the flowers, a little bit more realistic shape. I became obsessed with making those flowers.

I love how many of us were encouraged by the women of our families. My great grandmother taught me to hand embroider at 6 or so, my grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 8. My first craft on my own as when I was 15 and wanted to make Christmas floral decorations, think wreaths and garland. I've crafted my whole life and it brings me so much joy and pride in many of my creations.

I remember going to the store witb my mom and picking out the fabric I wanted for the pillow. Now i use my Cricut Joy I paint rocks(occasionally) I am starting to get into Decoupage and I am trying to learn how to Crochet. Great video! I'm so glad I was able to catch the premiere! For the QOD....I started crafting about 10 years ago when my sister showed me how to make a mini album but I soon found Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire on UA-cam and quickly shifted to card making. I loved making cards mostly to send to my husband (boyfriend at the time) who had joined the Navy and was in boot camp. After a while life got in the way and I didn't have much time for card making. I started doing other crafts like vinyl and home decor. I honestly was about to get rid of my card making supplies during my craft room clean out last year but your channel inspired me to start making cards again! It feels so good to get back into it! Thanks so much for the inspiration and congratulations on 100+K!!😊💛

Congratulations! You are already at 102k! These people have great taste. 😂 You are not only an amazing teacher, but you pepper in life lessons and and totally inspire us. It's interesting to me that most of us crafters started when we were young. I can't remember my exact age, but I think I was about 6 or 7 when I made things (oranges with cloves stuck in them, latch hook, drawing) with my grandma. I also remember making ornaments with my mom and sister and creating bird seed art for the birds each winter! Now I make lots of gifts, but I am thinking I need a die cutter/embossing machine to make cards - any suggestion on a good first time machine with replacement plates that are easy to find - oh, with a 6 inch opening!? So...way off topic, but I love your bracelets on your left arm! Are they rubber? Could you share where to find them?

Did I see that you have a magnetic mat that you use for holding materials, weeding?? I saw someone had one on UA-cam but couldn’t remember who! I’d love to know where to buy one!! I have neuropathy & think it would help me.

Hi Bethany and I have a question for you,I have the revolution with the motor I purchased separate and I was wondering how is the Gemini jr,I never see you use that and instead you use your spellbinder,I don’t want to purchase it if there’s issues with it.Thanks in advance

I love my Gemini Junior. Between the two, I use my Gemini Jr 95% and Spellbinder 5% of the time. They both have their purposes for me. :)

When crafting on wood do you use permanent vinyl or removable? Sometimes I have issues with the wood peeling off when using permanent vinyl and peeling the transfer tape. 😮 any suggestions?

I use both, I just go with whichever has the color I like and only use removable if it’s an indoor wood piece that won’t get wet.
