Hey guys - We had a technical issue with our cameras during this recording. Our shots are a little more punched in than usual so enjoy the closeups of our lovely faces during this episode!😉 We can't thank Berj enough for joining us up here in the Boston Nut House. He was a key pillar of the New England Patriots during their historic run and we're pumped for him now to be making his debut on a podcast here at GWN! Thanks for tuning in🤟🏈
I had no idea who this guy is. You can tell he’s hardcore man. Says things like “it’s a way of life. These aren’t mottos” or “it’s ingrained in me”. Bill created great men you can tell they lol respect him
The guy from Texas that called in was absolutely so happy when he watched this. You guys are great. And this coming from a ravens fan who has yelled and cussed Edelman my entire life 🤣. Nothing but respect sir.
@@Mikerotch1287 Did you watch Episode 1? Bruschi graciously participated in discussion of one of the games the Patriots lost to the NY Giants: Super Bowl XLII, aka "18-1". Eli Manning was also on that episode.
Edelnut slowly becoming the king of podcasts.. it amazes me how a California kid ended up playing college ball in Ohio.. u seem like a down to earth dude.. great show keep doin u bro
U got me thinkin...which would he choose? This is a good one, but he's done a thing with Charles Woodson going over the whole tuck rule controversy. Maybe....2001, his first win where his teammates got belief he's the guy. I think in Miami
59:38 this guy is a freaking grateful dead head?! Jesus it's impossible to get a read on berj, I would've expected more glam rock or something but definitely not stoner jams 🤣
Boston college is definitely an incredible organization I wish they would get back to their roots and winning again 👀 put so many great players so many great seasons, I do want to see them dominate Notre Dame again lol plus if anyone has heard of the red bandana story from 9/11 he went to Boston college Welles Crowther, a 1999 Boston College graduate, became known as the "Man in the Red Bandanna" after he used a red handkerchief as a protective mask to save up to 18 lives in the World Trade Center's South Tower on September 11, 2001
I remember the Tuna Bowl well. One thing I'll never forget was Chris Slade's interview after the game. He was hyped about the win, naturally, but he made a comment about Coach (Parcells, I assume) testing him with some runs. What he was talking about was Slade's tendency to NOT do his job. Namely - he would not "contain" the run on his side and would instead speed into the backfield looking for a sack. Slade was a Pro Bowler in 1997, but he was also benched (relegated to Passing downs only) in 1996 (Belichick of course came on board in Week 3 as Tuna's assistant) in favor of Saab. This angered Slade. But I don't think he ever really learned. Belichick especially would say Sacks are the most overrated stat in football. If you have outside contain you had better not let ANYONE outside you on a run - or else he simply wouldn't play you (I have to wonder if the unexpected trade of Jamie Collins in 2016 was for the same reason). A lot of players just aren't smart enough to play for Belichick. Bledsoe for instance - after the comeback in Superbowl 49 against a generational Defense, Drew went on a podcast and said Brady "Didn't really do anything" to lead the comeback. It was like Christ Drew - you STILL don't get it? He could have played with Belichick for 100 years he never would have figured it out.
If we are discussing the old Foxboro/Sullivan Stadium, someone really should address what we fans had to endure. Seats that were basically concrete slabs, old, dilapidated well everything. Years and years of rooting for losing teams (that had just begun to change and none of us dared think it would last, as it never had before). And I saved the worst for last....totally unusable ladies rooms that seriously should have been condemned. They made port-o-potties look luxurious!!! You had to be a legit fan to be there. There was no bandwagon then LOL
Just coming back to this one because I just saw Berj at a BV game. I was on the field with my son during warmups and when the team came out. Berj was standing there like 5' away from me. He just kinda looked over at me like "why is this grown man screaming my name like that?" Haha. Just kidding, it was definitely the kid next to me screaming his name, after I told him who he was. Also saw Scott Pioli.
Pod has been awesome! I still think it would be rad to do a JUCO episode with someone else who played JC. Jules was a legend at CSM in that era. Cali JUCO was legit as fuck.
I was at this game. had 3rd row seats right on the goal line. Sports Illustrated has a photo of Keyshauns catch. My face is to the left of the ball. I took my sister to the game, her face is right where the ball is. she got ball edited
If anyone was ever curious as to why Belichick wore an Armenian flag pin to the White House in 2015 after winning Super Bowl XLIX that was for Berj. Or how when the Acting Secretary of Defense, Christopher Miller, quoted "Do your job" in his November 2020 letter & local media asked Bill to comment about it, he spoke out about the Armenian Genocide and stated that the US should support Aremia against Türkiye & Azerbaijan - that was for Berj too. He's obviously incredibly valued by Bill Belichick. Some of us have known about him for well over a decade.
Kelce is in LA more now cuz of Taylor and filming so you should def try and get him to come on the show to discuss the Bills v. Chiefs playoff 2022 game.
This guy actually selected the photos that were placed on the wall! He’d look at 60 photos. He’d choose 22. I dunno man, the dude’s best talent is having the good fortune of being hired by Parcells. He’s super talented, not suggesting that he’s not. He’d acknowledge that hire changed the orbit of his life.
If I go to sleep and wake up to a never ending version of one of those annoying ‘shoot all the zombies’ adds that can’t be skipped, I’ll know I died in my sleep and am now in hell

Do you know what’s annoying? The CMC manager in my league is 2-1. Has a really good roster, and oh… By the way 😒 CMC on IR. Kamara, Aaron jones, Ekeler. Pittman Diggs and Kelce. He’s perfectly fine to sit on CMC all season.
Berj would be like the Senate Parlaliamentarian. Another possible role would be like the GAO (Government Accountability Office), given his factual information gathering. 🧐
