  • I LOVE Fiat, in particular its characterful, fun and quirky small city cars! Thing is, whilst my love for the Seicento is well documented, Fiat has a 60 year history of fantastic and different small cars and I think EVERY petrolhead should know about it. Come with me on a trip back in time, to look at Fiat and how it built its reputation for fun, quirky and brilliant little cars!

The first fun small car Fiat made was the Fiat 500 "Topolino" of 1936 which was designed by Dante Giacosa, same as the Fiat 500 Nuova of 1957.

In Brazil, my country, one of the, if not, the most popular car is the old Fiat Uno, it sold so well that they produced it all the way up to 2013 and it had a facelift in 2004, you can literaly see it everywhere.

I think you missed some cars. Like the Fiat 600 which evolved into the Fiat 850, after that the Fiat 127 and finally the Uno. Although they are not a common sight in the UK they were quite the business out in the rest of Europe. Loving the channel though! Your little Seicento is amazing! :)

One of my friends told in England they say Fiat means "Fix it again tomorrow". My dad had a 1998 fiat fiorino pickup for 10 years, never broke down. I had a fiat punto for 2 years, and the car was on a garage without runing for years, never broke down. Now i have a 2009 Fiat 500 with 225.000km (bought it with 210.000 already less than 3 years ago), only had to change one single piece from the radiator. Also i live in an island in Portugal, with some extreme humidity and with a lot of salt water that doesn't help corrusion at all and i'm very happy with Fiat.
My dream is to add to my "personal collection" a classic Fiat 500 and the pickup my dad had (i know it's still runing around), and for the perfect trio i would like to upgrade my current Fiat 500 to an Abarth version :p but that's dreaming too high for now xD

I've been interested in the Panda ever since I saw a Wheeler Dealers episode about it! (When I found out Mr China was starting his own show without the salesperson stuff, it made me wonder if I wasn't the only person who skipped Mike's intros and outros.....) That effective and low cost 4x4 mechanism, in basically a hatchback instead of a huge Land Rover.. phwoar.

The first car in our family was Seat 850 (similar to Fiat 850). Probably with this car I was brought from the hospital in 1978. Than we had Fiat 126p for 13 days. It was funny story. My father couldn't start it as it was special lever to do this (not like key starter). When it comes to do my driving licence - I did it on 126p as well.

I see an old fiat tipo today still running. Looked in good condition but not like enthusiast condition. Just shows how reliable fiats are. 👍

I have owned a Panda 750 FIRE engined model - and 1000S FIRE engined model and a Marbella with the 903cc push rod lump and cart sprung rear axle - despite what people may think I found the Marbella best of the bunch - better built, better paint work and probably the purest and closest to the original design. The 750 was a hoot - everywhere foot to the floor motoring.
Also had several Uno's but as you say thats for another vlog.

My Mum had a 500 and a 126, she drove them both over the Alps to Italy. I've had 2 Uno Turbo's and a few Punto's including a GT. Love FIATs

Not currently, all I have at the moment is a Clio 182, but I’ll be long for another Alfa Romeo to use daily in the new year. Quite dance a GT jtd

Intents to, much better than a dull German car. I was in Bologna last month, I was surprised how many Panda and Panda 4x4s we saw, there everywhere. Made me want to buy one and drive it home!

Small correction regarding the 126, in the video you mention Fiat made it from 72 to 80 and FSM from 72 to 00. Whilst the FSM dates are correct, Fiat actually still sold it up till the end of BIS production in 92.

YAY! This video plays right into my wheelhouse as a classic 500 / 126 fan! :D
Fun fact, there WERE two FIAT 500 models that DID have full steel roofs! The very rare original Nuova FIAT 500 Sport ('58-'60) had one as an option.
The other 500 with a full steel roof was the uncommon FIAT 500 Lombardi 'My Car' (Yes, that was the actual model name!)! Carrozzeria Francis Lombardi was an Italian styling house that produced a licensed premium luxury version of the 500 with different front grill, different interior and the aforementioned full steel roof with a tiny integrated spoiler! :D

I think the old 500 is cute but useless in the modern world - however the 126 and the 126 Bis are great - my uncle had a 126 and that was great. As for the Panda then the Marbella - don't get me started......things of beauty - owned both.

You didnt mention a Yugoslavian built "Zastava 750" which was based on the fiat 600...and i think you should have included the Fiat "Uno" and "127" as well because they were also city cars at their time..

    Polski Fiat 126p 🥲

  • @user-zr3tb6bg7o
    @user-zr3tb6bg7o 2 роки тому

Actually that's wrong. You can drive from one side of Poland to the other and you will not see a single fiat 126p they are rarely seen on the road.
Moreover for 500 pounds you have no chance of buying one, price start at around 1000 pounds and for that you will have a very poor example likely with alot of rust
I live in Poland and I own a Fiat 126p
