I visited the former Khe San base as a tourist. It's a really grey, dreary hilltop in the highlands. Would have been a miserable place to be trapped under fire from enemy artillery.
I couldn't help but notice, almost a year on YT and no dislikes. I guess it was either all Aussies watching, or no-one can argue with Cold Chisel and The Simpsons!
This is brilliant, loved it! Such a great ballad, tells the entire story of a vet struggling after the Vietnam War in just a few words, not a word wasted. We sorely need some great storytellers these days.
I know this song well, belted it in pubs with the crowd from time to time. I never realise how sad the story was. This is just amazing!! I’m loving you work with Cold Chisel’s and Paul Kelly’s songs.
Oh thank you very much for this masterpiece! This is as the u.s.a would say “elite!” It’s a hard 11 for mine. Mr Packer a titan in my youth who stuck it to the man, even though he was the MAN, however he always seemed relatable as a man. Man, that’s a mouth full!🤕 P.s Twice Mina’s beauty rules okay?!
Great treatment of a great song, and I hate to nitpick, but the lyrics at 0:46 are "She was mine and I was home to the lucky land". not "She was lined... And artistic license is at work. Australians were not at Khe Sanh, which was a US marine base in the the north west of South Vietnam.
You know, I see lyric video after lyric video where the lyrics displayed aren’t 100% matching what the singer sings. This is no different. Given the work that went into curating the clips, I sorta figure that it wouldn’t have added too much extra effort to get the words right.
I think the lyric actually says " and I sold my saw (with?) the cigarettes...." because a 'saw' was the name for a Squad Automatic Weapon? Great song, great band.
The SAW didn't enter service until 1984 and Australian troops used the Belgian variant, the Minimi. The M60 was the go to in Vietnam, so it's definitely sold my soul, although you had me checking, SAW does kind of fit, just not in this era 😉 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weapons_of_the_Vietnam_War#Machine_guns
Edna Crabapple why did you have to go and be a cartoon character? I love you Edna. And you... YOU SKINNER! You stay away from my damn woman. ✌😜👍 Also... thats a pretty cool song Jimmy. You and the boys should consider a career in music. 🎶
Jimmy does too many covers I’m over chisel bit overrated having saying that my favourite would be 20th century and his solo album Bodyswerve and my all time favourite single is Cheap wine
First heard KS in 1978. 43 years later and I am still feeling it when it plays.

Facebook no longer display the dislikes.
He means UA-cam.
@@milnergmservices Yep thanks - I did mean YT. Just going senile in my old age.
A shite song always, with a bogus collage of other people's animation.
@@berekhalfhand4775 You read too much Thomas Covenant and become and angry fucker.A depressing fucking book.
Thank you Andy you have made a old Chisel fan smile like a split watermelon 🍉!

Great work, buddy!! 👍
Amazing! Somehow, you combined my two of my favourite things - Cold Chisel and The Simpsons! Brilliant!
Great band, amazing singer, awesome song
Mate, I'm a Vietnam Veteran and this a great vid.
A true hidden gem bravo from Redfern.
I think Jimmy and the boyz would love it!!

It's funny how you can know the words and not think about what they might mean.
Two of my favourite things mashed together. I loved it. Thank you.
I shared this to the Bortposting group. If it gets declined I'll forever wish there will no longer be anymore Bort license plates.
Why have i never seen this before?? Freakin awesome!!! Thank you Andrew Handyside and Think Random 💯

Fantastic, love this!!
That was cool as Andy mate. I loved it 😍
Brilliant
Funny as F!! Haha. Searched song for a friend and love this song. But great idea the Simpsons. Haha.
This is genius
I'm gonna hit some Hong Kong mattress all night long... Homer leaps from building on fire Lmao
That part made me laugh out loud.😂
"I'm going nowhere and I'm in a hurry" lenny hitting the gas.
"the last plane out of Sydneys almost gone" homer shoots a plane down :'D
Gold.
Good job Andy. Loved it. ☮️
Brilliant parody!! Thank you for the belly-laugh! 🤘🤘🤘
Love it!👍
You've earned yourself a subscriber, mate. Just don't tell Neville Bartos.
Edna and Seymour really should have fallen in love and lived happily ever after. Cold Chisel, greatest band ever.
Well done mate. Made me lol. :)
That was a fun 4 minutes :)
Good job
Clever
And there legs were often open , omg, thats gold.
Is this your first hearing of Khe San?
Welcome Cold Chisel Virgin.
@@triarb5790 No. I was referring to the video that accompanied the audio.
The line was the reason this song was banned from Australian radio in the late 70’s and 80’s
Is this genius? Is this blasphemy? I don’t know but I’m crying from laughing too hard 🤣

Nah mate thats mainly a U.S designation, in commonwealth countries we call it a GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun)
Sold my soul

Nui Dat.... My Dad was a Sapper at Nui Dat. 17th Construction Squadron. 1st ATF. Still mad at cold chisel. Khe San ..US marines. FFS.
Damn, you're 100% right, what tf?
Joe's going to plagiarise this and change the words to (the last plane out of Kabul's almost gone) kinda fitting ain't it
"Trump pissed some Moscow mattress all night long".
At least twenty years too late !
Well at least they had Barnesy and not Homer singing it...I don't get the American humour in it....
Tbh I’ve never liked KS….but don’t tell anyone
pity you got the lyrics wrong

Cold Chisel overrated? Ive never heard or thought such a thing.
Have you no respect?
What makes you say that.?
This is Oz unofficial national song. To see a cartoon parody is not good.
