@@aluzsanvaz5347 it has nice sound, the quality is great, I had to have it serviced once and it was no big deal the repairman said its in a great condition, the quality of the keys and flaps id still pristind and everything seals, it has gained some patina from keeping it wet but it has very nice sound good for jazz and classical music, really had its personality.

Great presentation boys! I was in your store recently (from Australia) and I tested all the ones you mentioned, except the last one. I'm an intermediate player and I was looking to upgrade from my 1st sax. You'll never guess which one I chose. Choosing instruments is a bit like choosing pets, sometimes they choose you. Anyhow the sax that spoke to me most was the sakkuzu delux red brass and I LOVE IT!!!! Sometimes it's not the make or the model or the country it's made in. It all boils down to the one you like. I could have spent more money, I had it there, but the sakkuzu did it for me. No regrets. And I will say, the service was second to none! Thanks very much sax UK.❤

Imo any of the horns shown in the video can be used professionally. Modern 'student' saxes other than those sold at rock bottom prices (which sax.co.uk wouldn't stock) are very well made, and have excellent ergonomics. The tone that any sax produces is determined primarily by the mouthpiece, reed and neck. The actual body of the horn has only a very marginal effect on the sound. As you move up in price you tend to pay extra for additions like engraving and keywork adjustability. You can buy any of these saxes and never truly need to upgrade, although we all do sooner or later because of fractional improvements that an intermediate/advanced player can feel and maybe hear and of course the feel good factor.. An audience most probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference and if they could, their preference in sound would be varied and subjective.

As a intermediate adult player I am always looking to see what type of saxes my band mates are playing. In almost all cases they are still playing student horns or a small step up from student. Most players are using old Bundy's, and Yamaha. Of course there is always the 1 person who has the high dollar Selmer. BTW I am playing the student model Yamaha YAS 23 and it plays great and is reliable.

Hey Abedin, i bought one about 8 months ago. I played for about 6 years in middle and high school, but afterwards I didn't have my own sax so I stopped. Now having more money I bought one and I love it despite everyone telling me to sink 3k in a pro horn. Now one thing is that I live in a high humidity area so I already have a leak somewhere but nothing serious, what is more serious is that a plastic knob responsible for closing the g# key when transitioning below g (and especially low c bc the g# key opens when using the left pinky keys) it popped off while I was cleaning it surprisingly easily. So a little bit of maintenance to be done, for me bc of humanity and my own mistakes cleaning, but still an excellent beginner horn especially for the price. If you got any questions lmk!

  • @DynamixWarePro

Great job of showing off student Altos, although I would have liked it if you included the Eastman EAS253 as it is a student alto around the price area as the Yamaha YAS-280 and the Conn-Selmer Avant 180 and there are no videos I can find that demonstrate it and not much information about it online. I agree with what you said about not buying a cheaper sax than the Sakkusu. I started with a Gear4Music Alto, which is a little cheaper than the Sakkusu and found in 3 months it had a leak in the low notes and the neck never securely fit to the body and would always move around no matter how tight the neck screw was tightened and everything felt slightly loose fitting even when tightened, so far from a well made saxophone.
I then had saved some money bought a Yamaha YAS-280 from you and like it a lot more and one reason I bought it was for the build quality and it feels well made. I liked the slightly lighter weight of it (although I do know that sometimes more weight is often better for improving the sound) and playing with a saxholder, I barely feel the sax on my shoulders.
I found out recently from my dentist that that I my lower jaw is slightly shorter than my top jaw, so I am having slight issues trying to maintain a good embouchure and its taking me longer to find the right mouthpiece/reed setup that works for me and my mouth shape, but I am getting there, so its a bit more helpful right now that the YAS-280 is free blowing and easy to play, which I need more while figuring things out.
However, this video would have been helpful at the time I was looking for a new student alto as where I live, there isn't anywhere I can test play saxophones and I am unable to come to your stores to play test any, and being able to hear the differences would have been useful to me, but I am still happy with the YAS-280, as it might take me longer to learn to play, but I know now that eventually I will want an alto sax with a different sound.

They have an oral surgery to extend your jaw to make it aligned with your top jaw but the healing process takes around two months because they have to cut your lower jaw in half and extended it but there is a solution my friend. Don't let it get you down.

    • @DynamixWarePro
      @DynamixWarePro 4 роки тому

@@chico305SIGMA Thanks. I know about that my dentist mentioned it to me and said it wouldn't be worth the pain and I don't really want to do that unless its a very last resort. Since I wrote my comment, I have made adjustments to my embouchure and tried a lot of mouthpieces to see which ones suited me better. My playing has become easier as my embouchure strength has gotten stronger and I figured out what I needed in the mouthpiece shape and resistance to feel comfortable to play on. Now I don't have any issues playing. Back then I was playing on Selmer mouthpieces (S80 and Soloist) and I realised their beak angle on them didn't suit me so I switched to a Vandoren AL5 and JodyJazz HR* and I never had any issues playing on those. I figured I just needed a mouthpiece with a slightly different shape or higher beak angle than the Selmer and less resistance so I could play without issues. I now also play a straight soprano without my jaw causing me issues.

Yet there is no limit to where you pay multiplied for just a little better finger position. And don't you just realize that "the name" matters to the quality.? Ex. I have heard that the highly acclaimed Selmer is only good because it has been adjusted a lot of time with a repairman .. So why not choose the one that just sounds best regardless of the "name" ..?

My thought is, is it better to put money into the Alto that I like playing more as of lately, and get a beginner or slightly cheaper intermediate tenor sax. Or intermediate tenor and Alto? Or amazing Alto sax and beginner tenor sax? And upgrade later? I'd like to know you're opinion. And one thing I will say, I love music and will keep them forever and may try to resell them and upgrade later on. Or just upgrade to vintage or pro models in a few years.

One benefit that the Yamaha has over the others is resale value. No one likes to think they're going to quit the instrument, but if it comes to that you will recoup more of your money through the Yamaha. As stated in the video, it's the most widely recommended starter sax and people are always looking to pick a used one up.

Would you say that the Yamaha 280 is a bit..... one-dimensional? I believe that's the term I'd use to describe it.

Would have loved to buy the YAS 280 due to its long life span, however, I really don't like how it sounds. I've watched a lot of videos and I've never liked how it sounds.
All the saxs in this video sound better to me.

@@robbalonkita2979 Thank you for the suggestion but I live in Angeles. It's an hour and a half from here to Manila and there is also the Manila traffic sigh -_-. If only they have an online store to check the prices and buy online, it would be really great or a store a lazada will do good too.
Btw are you looking for a saxophone to buy as well? Are you beginner or have been playing the instrument for a while? I am just planning to start though so I am a total newb.

I’m from Iceland but I’m Filipino, there’s hardly any saxophones lying around since brass instruments are rare in such a small country. I’m hoping there could be a store in Philippines that has decent student saxophones since I might visit there soon. As a local, would you be able to perhaps point me to a proper store based in Philippines? Manila or Cebu?
