I heard a state of the art police station will be built. Some of the residents got new walls built further in land. Jamaicans are resilient and know how to bounce back from setbacks.
It is good for St. Thomas but very sad for those who have to relocate after so many years and at such short notice. Sound advice about doing thorough research regarding building on a piece of land. 👍

The government should compensate the people’s losses. My mother in law in America paid a contractor to build a house on land she already owned and when she came home no house and the contractor disappeared. I wonder how many other people got screwed from the same person. People need to start publicizing these people. This was in St. thomas.
So sorry for what happened to your mother in law by that criminal posing as a contractor. I hope she made a report to the police. It is no longer wise for persons overseas to send money to contractors to build unless they have someone trustworthy to regularly be on site to ensure that the work is being done as per the contract. Right now I have a honest, real professional working with and he is from St. Thomas. Wished she knew him then.

The government cannot simply give persons one month notice, that’s not how the law works. Surely there must be a period of consultation and paying people compensation? What if people have mortgages and business they can’t just up and leave, outrageous
It would appear as though the projected path of the highway through that community changed as some persons were aware of the pending demolition while others located very close to the main road have stated they got a 1month notice. The developers have replaced walls erecting them further away from the road and a state of the art police station will be rebuilt.
I mentioned 2 separate issues from 2 completely different parishes. There are times when people might address one issue but Segway into something else. Nothing is set in stone and things can be shared in different ways.
Only persons with legal paperwork to show will be compensated. There are entrepreneurs who rent office spaces who will have to relocate and there will be no compensation for them.

Yes it will run through the hills. They will be widening the road from the corner at Copa and that section is currently in a deplorable state.
HIGHWAY is need now. Govt have in the budget to compensate or relocate the residents of Bull Bay. they will be ok no need to worry

Many Jamaican’s know of the rules not to construct a certain meters or feet away from the road but still chose to ignore and this is where you end up.
Even when they know, some still construct concrete buildings and lose their investment. So sad!
