So this is what Luigi does when he’s not with Mario
@@KaligtasanSaSalitaBroJohn Because all the 12 year olds in the comment section dont get this joke
I would love to see this experiment done again with a thermal camera. It would be interesting to see how the metal heats up as it is compressed.
He actually has one of those videos, called “Crushing steel objects with a hydraulic press thermal camera edition”
Don’t try this at home. Because everyone has a 150 ton hydraulic press at home.
You don't have yours yet? Dude, you better contact your local government and get on that!
Don’t try this at home, we are professionals.
“Breaks window”
Even professionals have accidents and unexpected things happen. That's how they become professionals in the first place. Lol
"And this shouldn't explode.....still might explode." Is the best thing to hear before any kind of experiment
now that was a proper jumpscare, bruh scared the life out of me
I knew it was gonna happen too lol and my whole body still shook. It was like just slow enough of an explosion for your eye to see it in your field of vision
5:50 I had my headphones and full blast and my entire body jumped
My volume was quite low and it was still loud enough to make me jump
5:50 Hearing this with a good pair of headphones is amazing. It's as if a chunk of metal actually demolished a workshop right behind me.
Me : “I need to sleep I gotta get up in a couple hours”
UA-cam : ”wanna watch A hydraulic press crush some sh**??”
Also me : “yes, yes i need to watch this” lol
5:45 - metal literally exploded, broke the window and nearly killed him.
He: Ehh, that wasn't cool, we broke the window.
He already knew it gonna happen, so he was prepared for this. You can see he didn't apply full load on the metals at first. When it starts bending he stops cause he know it gonna explode.
F*cking hell! I just clicked on the the time then when it exploded it scared the shit out of me!
I was falling asleep and then 5:50 happened
I'M WIDE AWAKE NOW BOYS
“Subscribe to the channel so we can pay for the window”
I gotchu dudeeeee
5:50 Looked at the comments, still jumped, heart feel shook
Me: *watches hydraulic press video at 2 AM*
Hydraulic press video: 5:50
Me: has heart attack
Seriously bro. Same thing happened. Its 2.19 AM. I m here. And I just jumped off my bed at that part. 😅
5:58 "What the? Ummmm that vasn't gud, we broke the vindow from the shop!"
I've watched so many demolition or explosion videos, this is the ONLY one that actually managed to get me wide eyed and alert as heck the moment the brass failed
5:50 I was expecting this because of the comments, but I still jumped!
You know what they say, Brass has the ass to break glass.
6:16 That WoOoOw made me laugh my butt of
Hey you’re the guy who always leaves timestamps on AJS news at Angry Joe’s channel. You are awesome.
5:51 scared me more than any horror movie I've ever watched.
Because a part of you knows that if it'd hit you instead of the window, you'd be gone.
So imagine you're walking down the street when suddenly a piece of metal breaks through the window right next to you and shoots out at like 200 mph
Plenty of people died on construction sites when two steel elements were not conecting properly and someone got "smart" idea to use big screws to force this two elements into proper position and then the screw failed and its head made huge hole in some poor guy body...
and btw. he said 20-30 meters per second that is only 45-67mph.
Exactly they better replace the windows with plexiglass.. jeez I would be worried to wal outside this workshop
@@kramo they said it was triple layer glass and it only broke 2 layers its fine to walk outside
I did this test in school just with much smaller sample. The task was to find the elastic limit of the material by looking at the strain-stress graph and finding the sharp transition that means plastic deformation. The problem was that there was no sharp transition. The graph just looked kinda like the logistic curve that we are still trying to flatten. The strain (deformation) grew slowly at first because the mechanical press was bending and we were counting the turns of the screw instead of measuring the real size of the sample. Then there was supposed to be a linear part and a sharp corner where the plastic deformation begun. However it was all kinda round and fuzzy. I had to somehow guess the linear part and called it a day so I could get the points but I was never happy with it.
Don't feel bad about it. Brass as a metal deforms strangely compared to most metals, You don't really get much elastic deformation and in the plastic deformation phase it will neck a little under tension before failure. Under compression, see above. Just kinda goes boom
5:51 wtf I was shocked.. feels like being spooked on a horror movie. this video is best on earphones..
I feel like I should watch this wearing safety face gear
Thanx for this, bc after realizing what you said I was able to watch the video feeling that hey, I am actually safe.
Fun fact: the 45 degrees failure is due to the material failing in shear. At 45 degrees shear stress is maximum where tensile stress is minimum. The failure encountered in this video is to be expected.
I love when theory meets reality.
I was half asleep untill the brass committed alt+f4
"I think it's going to be hot"
*touches with bare hand*
if its too hot im sure he is smart enough to let go and not hold onto it XD
You know you're in Finland when even a workshop has triple-glazing to keep out the cold.
@@PoeticMercury it is actually, because it doesn't have the Atlantic to mitigate extreme temperatures.
That explosion actually jumpscared me 😂
I knew what was coming and I still jumped out of my seat. I re-watched and jumped again.
5:50 my body JUMPED and my cat was in the room and I see her 20 feet away in the room across the hall with a poofy tail
I was wearing headphones and my cat was on the desk, she got really agitated and started searching for what happened.
Same I jumped but I don't have a cat but my sister jumped when she heard the loud bang and also i was wearing headphones. 😂😂😂
5:49 I was already a little tensed, 5:50 I nearly spilled my coffee over the desk.
I watched this on my mobile phone with my headphones on - and when the brass piece shattered I absolutely jumped out of my skin. Dropped my phone.
I wasn't expecting that at all, i dropped my phone too and it fell on my face
I literally ran out of the room.
"So many things about this that made me jump out of my skin. It made me feel very uncomfortable and I felt completely helpless, and I felt like I was being manipulated."
ahah i was watching it in the middle of the night on my laptop and almost fell out of bed
This channel makes me appreciate how dangerous a hydraulic press is. It seems like everything is just a spring waiting to explode.
"This shouldn't explode!" is clearly the best thing to hear from a man operating a hydraulic press
When it was broke the window almost give me a mini heart attack
@@hazelseen I am watching with headphones, SO glad I read this before it came up
Good lord that explosion was totally unsuspected from that metal. I thought it was coming from steel. I was so relaxed drinking my tea when it happened that I spilled it all over the keyboard.
The metals are very strong which makes them very dangerous, so vee must deel with them
I think that's true since this was first broken window after 4 years of crushing :D
@@HydraulicPressChannel I think its too dangerous...
I think it had mark kinetic energy than a pistol bullet ...

7:55, Making the worlds most expensive Oreo.
I thought hey that’s one expensive Oreo then I went in the comments and instantly saw this
I always like to see those coin shapes on the top of anything you crush from when you crushed all those coins a few years back.
I used some screenshots from this video for a school presentation talking about how compressive testing is done! Excellent camera angles for that sort of thing.
"This shouldn't explode"
"It might explode"
"Ayyy, it didnt explode"
Now, you do it in Finnish. Don't worry, we'll laugh with you, not at you. ;)
His accent makes this the funniest channel on youtube.
Cuz he is Russian and Russians English accent is not that well 😅 BTW I love their accent...
I knew it was coming and I still jumped out my skin when I heard the bang 😂
Reminder, the most interesting moments are where the ads are placed
"For some reason all the metals wants to fly in our direction"
I was not ready for that burst.
@@MatCendana Sounded like a little bolt of lighting struck your front yard
5:50 oml I knew it was coming and I still jumped lmao
5:50 When you remember there's this thing called shear stress.
Have to say that Anni's "Oi vit.......tu" was one of the most heartfelt "wtf" I've heard in my life.
We All Know Luigi Is The Useless One So He Just Crushes Metals Instead
Please be safe . That was insane, I’m in on the metal Oreo cookie 🍪 though 😂
Mom: what do you want for this Christmas
Me : A hydraulic press machine
It’s a hydraulic press, doesn’t need “machine” at the end to state what it is.
Mom: ...but only if you don't press metallic cylinders to test how strong the metals are. At home.
Glad no one got hurt, but I have to tell you... that was AWESOME! Thank you for sharing!

Fire goes brrrrr
Why have fragmentation grenades when you can just set up a hydraulic press in the middle of the battlefield then put brass in it?
"all the metals want to fly in our direction"
They want to attack you for what you have done to their brothers. You must deal with it. Hahahaha
It's all fun and games until the damn metal gets a _shear fracture._
I did _not_ know brass had a crystalline structure _to_ shatter.
Jesus, I had this in the background for a moment and 5;50 gave me a heart attack.
"Hey, it didn't explode!" - famous last words...

"That's why we have the blast screen."
"Things happen when you press stuff like this."
Words to live by. 👍
@@PixelGod240 polycarbonate blast shield at 6:45. Not sure how much that would of protected them.
"Blast screen" - lets use a couple of pieces of old wood to hold the poly, and make it small enough that we'll have to squash together to fit behind it. Loving this channel, don't change 👍👍🤣
When the brass let go I jumped. Lol.
The tentative optimism before any great project: “Shouldn’t explode. Still, might explode.”
The exclamation after every successful project: “Hey, it didn’t explode!”
'Don't try this at home'
I don't even have that hydraulic press lol😂
If only I had a hydraulic press and a waterjet in my bedroom, my life would be complete.
I was listening to this at full volume and scared the crap out of me! 5:50
Wished they turned down the volume at that part. I jumped so hard it hurt in my body
Hydraulic Press works:

Have you thought about crushing thin layers of metal together, folding it, and repeating until you have an alloy? Maybe even an alloy that wouldn't form naturally from melting?
I feel like the viewers should wear safety goggles watching this video lol
oh when the window is broken, it's suddenly "Timo's window"
What? Saying it like that is only a good thing. It's a way of telling the audience what happened and at the same time telling Timo "Yes, Timo, we are aware that we just destroyed _your_ window and we will of course pay for it."
Oops I laughed pretty loud @ 6 a.m. in my condo I hope my neighbours aren't like WTF!!?? Haha
@ 6:00 I think he was like, "We broke the VIN DOUGH!!" Mama mia WTF Luigi !!! Oops I think Mario!

And you don't need to worry about our safety. For "regular" videos like this we have 12 mm thick polycarbonate shield. For reference it's twice as thick as this one ua-cam.com/video/FSP-2VINGa4/v-deo.html If we are crushing anything that can generate stuff flying over 50m/s we use 25 mm thick shield that is mounted to press. The brass was moving about 25m/s on this video and didn't go through even window completely. So you can throw small rocks by hand that are more dangerous than that piece was. It's just dramatic to get couple glasses broken :D
I would suggest more the three panes of glass Incase something larger or faster moving hits it
5:58 haha
Not as many "Uh oh" in the final video edit compared to what I remember from the Twitch filming day. But there were enough to make it a prrritti guud video.👌😀
Creat a Store and sell things like this 'Hamburger' you made at the end! I bet people would buy if you make it. looks cool
@Anonymous Anonymous The tungsten piece that you would be able to crush with 150 tons is so small that I think the sharpnel wouldn't be super bad. The stuff from bearing balls flies around 1000m/s but it's so small that it only penetrates about 2mm in to polycarbonate. We have 25mm thick shield for stupid stuff like that so I am sure that it would well cabable of stopping shrapnel from 10mm tungsten bit with out any problems.
Larger problems is that if the thing slips out or breaks the hardened tools that are crushing it since then we would have possibility for fast and large pieces. That's why we haven't been able to crush one yet.
