In the lego presentation of this set it shows the controlled movement of the arm down - rather than a quick drop often seen with the lego pneumatic system. So maybe your observation that there is a second setting at 60 degrees designed to control the air flow is a useful new feature where letting a beam arm fall slowly when the weight and pump both would normally result in a rapid fall.

Die Stangen sollten vor allem sauber sein - also eingeschoben lagern. Wenn du dann nicht allzu viel putzt, sollte der Schmierfilm lange halten. Wenn er nicht mehr fühlbar ist, kannst du die Stangen leicht fetten.
In the old systems (15 years back) you could over pressurise them and the hoses would burst off the switch of the pistons. Is this new system with the motor protected against that? I feel like I want to shut off the motor as soon as the pistons reach their extended positions, but I see people on review leaving it on constantly even if not activating the pneumatics. I also noticed that if I do shut off the motor the pistons will start to relax again, so it seems the design intention is to keep it on constantly. Can you shed any light? No instructions came from lego on how and how not to use these parts.

But the small pumps (6L) get leaky from time to time. That's the reason (in my case) why i.e. the crane of my red Zetros goes down after a while. Second: Shutting off the motor when piston reaches position is good. In my red Zetros there's an automatic switch which turns off the compressor when a given pressure is reached. Other builders using auto valves - valve, pump, and motor are combined in a way the compressor is only working when the valve is used. Third: Pistons relaxing after shutting off the compressor is because of leakage in the pumps (in my theory ;)). If the whole system is tight the pistons should stay in position for a longer time. As far as I know there's no intended "over pressure protection" in the pneumatic system.

Habe jetzt gerade selbst meinen Crawler mit 4 L Motoren (3:1 untersetzt, direkt an den Rädern --> sehr breite Achsen) und 2 Servos (einer ist mit den Portale Hubs von Lego und ohne Diffs nicht genug) fertiggestellt! Meiner Meinung nach wirklich der perfekte mix. Als du deinen Crawler/Truck beschrieben hast, dachte ich eher an mal was leichteres und simpleres, das auch für schweres Gelände tauglich ist. Wenn ich dir meinen Wunsch für deine nächste Kreation sagen dürfte, wäre das ein "Xtreme-Crawler" (ich plane z.B. auch einen mit 4 XL ;), wobei 4 L auch reichen...). Falls du meinen Wunsch/meine "Challenge" annimmst, bin ich schon sehr gespannt auf das Ergebnis!!! Mfg

If you check all versions, it should be Pneumatic V4: 1 - First version with one connector and 2x4 Distribution Block, 48 and 64 mm cylinders, short shaft pump 1.1 - long shaft pump added 2 - Second version with two connectors, 48 mm cylinder and pump with thick top 2.1 - First compressor and Air Tank 3 - Version with two connectors, without studs, designed for liftarms/beams 3.1 - 3.9 - various new cylinder sizes and colors 4 - New pneumatic valve for Power Functions
Hm, I presume it's because Lego will always only know what it's used today, so there's no backward compatibility neccessary. I like the first generation of pneumatics, the models are looking way better with just one tube. And the pump with the long shaft is rather powerful.

It will. That’s why it’s good to switch on and off the compressor only when needed or to integrated an automatic switch controlled by pressure. Or you integrate a pop of valve - but that’s something I’ve never seen in a LEGO MOC

I think not. I had to use similar force like with the last generation of valves. Maybe they will run more smoothly after using them a while.
