I have personally found that for RWD cars, ice tires are ungodly OP. Especially when compared to drift and drag tires. Drag doesn't let you slide as much and drift just doesn't do it. Try out ice tires on your favorite rwd car and maybe that can be your next video??

Drag is the most slidey tire type bar none. It also accelerates faster than any other tire type. So you can see why it's OP.
The reason you might get better scores with ice tires is not because they slide more, it's because they're nowhere near as tricky to drift with as drag tires - drag tires were tricky in FH4 but they're much trickier in FH5, purely because of understeer. They're constantly trying to make your car face forwards so you need to use certain fairly advanced techniques to get them to go sideways, but once you learn those techniques you can't really go back because no other tyre type gets you as many points.
I like having high power RWD cars and slick race tires for drifting, the control is really fun to play around with

I have some suggestions
1. Raise your audio, im now on max volume and i can hear you fine, but at anything under im strugging
2. If your going to add music, keep it in the background, lower the music, raise game audio

I think he's using clutch and handbrake but there's also the choice of going for a faster line or trying to cover more of the tarmac. With the latter you need to need to use handbrake extensions a lot but with the former, not so much. I see he wasn't getting much angle or covering a lot of the track and was probably aiming more for a speedier line.
You're correct. I wasn't using clutch but the handbrake does drift you wider. However score is based on 3 things, distance travelled, angle and speed. Feel free to check out my other videos, especially the "TOP 100" video. There are many styles of drifting. You jaut need to choose what's right for you :)
@@Shane-o Yeah i have 646k on needlepoint on fh4, i can use the clutch to go completely side ways for ages, I know this is not fh4 :D but it's basically the exact same
also lower tire pressure is better for drifting i normally use like 28-16 front to rear

Too high can cause to much sliding espacially with drags, you need some sort of grip so you dont spin out even on awd
@@Truenkyy With drags you want them to slide as much as possible. Then you control them with clutch kicking, handbrake extensions and the brake itself.
What you _do_ want is low at the front, high at the rear, because with drags the biggest problem by far is understeer. They nerfed drags after FH4, I guess in an attempt to shake up the meta, but they remain OP for driftzones only now they're horrible to drift.
Used this setup and went from 750k score to 980k and I fucken suck at drifting but im getting better...my mate has had this game for ages and basically just drifts the same road all the damn time but he has only just unlocked PR Drift Stunts and got 1040k score his first try because obviously he would do well after having done it for AGES lmao

My first run on that track was 1.02mil on a Formula Drift Viper without changing anything, beat it by a few thousand with both Nissan 350 and Merc 63 Black Edition on RWD with drift tires

if your using a 90s jdm sh*tbox try stock tires it's not the best of both worlds but rather it's own world, I find it to be super controllable and it goes where you want it to

Can you maybe do a video on how to max out points with RWD?
I know AWD will get you more points but it's not really the point on drift cars. I'd rather try and get as many points as possible on RWD than going for AWD.
This has kinda destroyed the leaderboards in FH, because some weird hypercar AWD builds destroy the real drift cars, which is kinda sad in a way.

Wondering if you're aiming for speed on your lines, or for angle and maximum coverage of the track? It's extremely hard to get angle with the drag tyres because they understeer so heavily on every car but the Isetta and the Willy's(which have problems with oversteer instead😬).
I do not like all wheel drive drift that just power sliding n bullshit I only do rwd for drifting

Video was great bud, one piece of constructive criticism would be you need to play with your voice-over audio a bit to make it stand out a bit clearer. If you are using Premier there are even presets to do this.

That's definitely not the case. Try donwloading the S1880 Isetta tune from Barry Sniff and see how you do by comparison. I predict you will not get far.

These aren't power slides. A power slide occurs after the apex of a turn, whereas a drift occurs throughout the whole turn. You just don't know what 'powerslide' means and have thus demonstrated your dopiness.

I dont know man i find it much easier to drift on drift tires than on drag tires plus on rwd cars u can’t even drift with drag tires
i feel you man. this was more for AWD. AWD and drag tires used to be the meta in FH4. For RWD stick to drift or snow tires.
Most of the time If I have a car in RWD with alot of power under the hood I actually use full slicks

i got the same score as you 1.2 mill in a rwd supra with drift tires and i wanted to get a new record but i just couldn't i been trying over and over in this mountain but i can't ,, and last night one of my friends got higher than my score in a willys jeep ;) ,, i think drift zones should be exclusive fir RWD cars
i think leader boards should be split to RWD and AWD. 1.2 mil is good. im now on 1.4mil nearly though ;) theyve changed to scoring system now too so you dont get as many points
I'm on 1,393,000 or something from the first week of release. That was literally my fifth go on this drift zone and I hated it - I still think it's too long and there's too much dead space - and just didn't bother with it after that. It was 150th in the world or something, not great but not bad either.
But you need to know that they've severely nerfed the multiplier in drift zones which is why you can't get back to your old score. I'm stuck at 500th in the world or something annoying like that and it seems like I'm going to be stuck at that forever, just like everyone else in the top 1000. It's a completely mad decision by Playground, I honestly have no idea what they were thining.
BTW, the Willy's Jeep and the Isetta are the two absolutely horrible meta cars for drift zones. I got my top score on the Willy's Jeep originally, and went back to this drift zone after so many months to try and get around the 1.2million, which is half decent for this zone. A few practices in the Willy's and I made it well into 1.22m but really there's not much incentive to keep trying when your leaderboard position never changes.

This is an old video. 4 gear gearboxes weren't in the game back then unless you used a formula D car. Also I don't really like them.
@@Shane-o you can make any 6 gear race trans into a 4 gear in the game...just cut the last 2 gears to the same lengths as the 4th, it's what I do on all my drift cars...its also how i made 4 gear tunes in the old motorsport games and old horizons.
I know this is a 2mnth old vid however I use awd with snow tires on all my my drift builds. I'm not the best drifter but I do get anywhere between 1,073,000 to 1,227,000 even on the few I have as 1 gear tunes. I may need to give the drag tires a shot since they nerfed the drift zone shortly after launch.
1,200,000 is a good score man. i get around that with the drag tyres. its really hard to get higher than that though because like you say they nerfed the drift zones. they really need to reset the leaderboards
It just takes practice really, everyone is still not used to it because in fh4 using drag tires for drifting pampered them and took little to no skill, in terms of realism, drift tires do exactly what they do irl, they’re not bad at all for drifting. All in all, it comes down to a lack of skill in drifting on real drift tires and not those cheat drag tires

@@Shane-o I’m not saying that people who use them are cheaters, I feel that the tires are just cheat tires, yes it was a learning curve to use them at first but they are still in my opinion just a cheat. All in all though, no I’m not calling you or anyone else a cheater in any way or form
I never used them for drifting because I stuck to sport tires for drifting mostly, but playground should’ve just added drift tires from the start

@@exploredecimitry3557 I would try to clutch kick/ more power/throttle or a tap of the normal brakes as normally this slows the front down more than the rear spinning out the back. Could also use the handbrake and turn into the corner if you have enough speed. I find on the cara este drift zone AWD is good because the turns are mostly very long and fast. However if you're on a really really technical zone I would try out RWD :)

No offence but using drag tyres for drifting is nothing new about, well at least to me. Also you drifting the drag on dry road and drift tyres on wet, try to do drift with drag tires in wet condition, you not gonna score anything. And with awd dont think it matters what tyre you got, with that 5.0 degree toe out anyway😀

Breaks my heart what they've done to drag tires since FH4. I used to love drag tires for drifting, I'd use them outside of drift zones all the time. But in FH5 they've made them hugely understeery so you really feel like you're wrangling the car to get it sideways. You have to start clutch kicking long before a corner comes up and handbrake/clutch into a sideways position. It's still the meta but it's horrible. Now I only use them in drift zones. So sad.
I agree. Also drift zones are broken since they changed the scoring system. No way of beating your own high scores now :(
@@Shane-o I know. I got 1.393 in the first week of release and just left it completely until a few weeks ago. Then I came back, expecting to have dropped massively from 120th in the world or whatever it was originally, but I'm still at 530th or something.
I was quite pleased at first, I expected to have dropped out of the top 1000. Then I tried to beat my score and didn't come within 100k of it.
It was only my fifth fucking go on that drift zone and now I'm stuck with it forever. Same with all the other drift zones I tried.
I've had a few goes at improving my scores, but it feels a bit pointless now. I've no idea why they nerfed the multiplier, it makes no sense.
And they should implement a ghost system for the top ten in the world, so we can see what their run was like and then eliminate the cheating pricks with ten million points.
