Esau is the only person who asks rational questions about divvying up blessings and who is kind to forgive his brother and who will walk together with him. But then Jacob aka Israel just screws up again takes a detour. Nice morals. The story-line is very weird. (Oh ya, they found out Genesis was written by more than 3 authors) Jacob aka Israel was supposed to go to Seir. But then he goes to Sukkoth. Fine. But then he came from Paddan Aram. What. He just left Sukkoth to go back to Laban in Paddan Aram? I thought he was not supposed to go back after that covenant he made with Laban on some stones.

In the Bible it keeps saying servants but they are basically slaves. I think even if Bible calls them servants you should call them slaves. I am not even sure servant means the same thing with modern English. They have completely different meaning. They were not servants they were 'slaves'
@@chewxieyang4677 you may be right. But they were definitely not servants with the meaning of today's usage. I think they deliberately using this word to minimize the situation in people's mind.

"Oh no, I have plenty of my own. I insist you keep them." "No, really! They're a gift from me to you! I insist you keep them." "No. Seriously. I'm good. They're all ours." "Oh, but I brought them especially for you..." And so forth, all accompanied by very forced smiles that are secretly hiding the "I want to kill you" look.
But we'd kill them in a very polite way. To their face, because we're also brave like that. Anyone else would stab someone in the back, but we'd be all like, "Oh sorry, eh, gotta stab you in the chest now. You wanna call yer ma first, just to make sure she'll know where you'll be?"
PS: Wow, I do kind of make us sound like sociopaths, but the thing about the bravery is at least stereotypically true. It IS true that, in both World Wars, the Allies would have been up the creek without us. On the world stage, we don't get much credit for it, but we did do it, especially in helping out England. One thing a lot of people REALLY don't know is that our Indigenous populations more or less went to hell and back for the country during the World Wars, too, and a lot of the flight codes were made out of Indigenous words from different Tribes, because those languages have no relation at all to any European languages, so they were totally obscure to the Axis.
@@ActiveAdvocate1 For those who don't quite understand the Canadian way... yeah, we might sound a little unhinged. But hey, I guess it's far if we think the rest of the world can be a bit unhinged, too, right? That's why we are among one of the nicest (and toughest!) countries in the world. :)
They have their own stands because some of them will have to lead a great nation. He used his man because they might attack but Jacob just went the middle and that's how Esau knew that he wasn't going to attack. Jacob wrestled with God and even stole his birthright and blessing, of course that Esau will be scared. He said "who are these people next to you?" in the way of kindness. When you introduce your new family to your parents, they will also ask in that way. He declined because he already has a lot of flocks and he's brother really took a lot of flocks for it and is deserving of it because he had his own hard work for himself but its also bad to decline. Jacob said "the face of God" because Esau is being a role model or following God's model. The place of Sukkoth is empty yet. Remember! they're in the first histories of the Earth. He called it Sukkoth so that the place may represent the way of how he build his house or shelter for his flocks and herds. He went to Sukkoth instead because it will be late and that is for his stopping tent, like for example you and your family need to get back home but it will take all night so you go to a hotel and its God's way. God always tell everyone where to go so that they may have a great nation like how God told Abraham. God is good. God bless you.

The evidence in Genesis, for the 24 hour day and 7 day week. Both are apparent from reading the verses, starting in Genesis 1 verses 2-31. God, made what had been darkened, and set it in place to be visible again. Genesis 1 verse 2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of GOD moved upon the face of the waters. And you have the words, the evening and the morning; made and created. And there are the constellations, that are for signs and seasons being made visible again. The concentration is on earth, the cosmos was created in Genesis 1:1. The KJV Bible, is translated from the original Hebrew an Greek texts. The NIV and all the others, are not fully authentic versions. And the act of creation by God, was taking place with the earth. Where He was forming it to be, a habitation for what we observe now. The completion, He called and blessed as and on, the seventh day; Genesis 2: 1-3.

This is a record of history. What exactly do you think is wrong with it? If your point is that Jacob had weaknesses in his character, well yeah he's human and had a sinful nature. The Bible does not conceal the short-comings of the people it records. It doesn't mean God condones everything they do. At no point in this chapter is God recorded as saying "sort your wives and children according to how you favor them." Jacob was at times an a-hole. So was his grandfather Abraham. He went into Egypt knowing men there would want his wife and lied about her being his sister and let her be taken to the king's house so they wouldn't kill him. Jacob's older sons sold Joseph into slavery because of their jealously and lied to him about Joseph being killed. The Bible is, in part, a very long record of how unrighteous people are operating on their own morality. Also, the word Succoth means booths. Jacob built booths for his livestock so that's what he named the place after. It is a narrative style in the Bible of identifying a place by the name it was eventually called then explaining the origin of the name. The Jewish feast of Sukkot is also known as the Feast of Booths.

I suppose it is pointless to point out that according to the story Issac was born in 1956 BCE and died in 1776 BCE at age 180 (after Yahweh said no one would live longer than 120 years). That would have the story of Isaac taking place from the 20th to 18th century BCE. Meanwhile in the real world, “The Philistines were an ancient people who lived on the south coast of Canaan from the 12th century BC until 604 BC, when their state, after having already been subjugated for centuries by Assyria, was finally destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia, after which they disappeared from history” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philistines So the Philistines would not have been contemporaries of the Hebrews for another 600 years.
@@oscargordon after the flood there was a gradual decline in life expectancy till the maximum one could expect would be 120 years, which is still true today. I'm not sure what point you are making about the Philistines. Down vote number three here: I want to say first thank you for this video. It was a blessing for me to find it with you. Genesis 33 makes perfect sense. I've listened carefully to your video and also Genesis 1, which popped into my feed. Jacob is showing us heaven in verse 2. It is a prophesy for Moses. Moses famously built a tabernacle. In that tabernacle was 7 golden lampstands. Hence Jacob bows down 7 times in verse 3. Esau is happy to be in the presence of the throne. So he wept in verse 4. Verse 8 Jacob wants to spread his glory but Esau doesn't understand in verse 9. Verse 13 and 14 shows them moving slow because this throne is in its infancy and needs solid food (Hebrews 5: 12- 14 ). They drink milk but when Moses builds the tabernacle, Isreal is eating solid food. In verse 15 Jacob rejects anything vile out of the throne, or any teachings not coming from the throne. Review Genesis 31. It seems odd by 2020 standards that God's throne isn't magical, but review Zechariah 6 and the throne Moses built and take another look at the way the family is positioned in Genesis 33. Although we may not like how God works, a reminder comes in Psalms 20:7 about not trusting in horses. This is another reason for their slow movement.
@@mustolu001 Jesus spoke just like his Father (John 12:49). How did Jesus speak? Mark 4:34 He spoke in ____. Why did Jesus speak this way? Mark 4: 10-12 He is fulfilling the Old Testament. @@MrLightning20 Yes! I'm looking forward to that whole book but chapter 21 especially.
Watch My Video Please that is the notorious chapter in which God regulates slavery. The most controversial verses are Exodus 21:20-21 that says you can beat your slaves as long as they don’t die within a day or two and the slave owner will not be punished bc the slave is his property/money.

Well according to the Wholly Fables, Esau and Jacobs descendants are going to constantly be at war with each other in the generations to come.
That sounds all too familiar. I mean the Aesir and Vanir gods of Norse lore at war with each other.
That's probably why they wrote it. To justify why X trible didn't like X tribe. As in producing history after the fact.
As an example of ancient Hebrew storytelling (which it is) Genesis is hilarious.

LOL, I thought they were going to get into a Canadian politenes battle over the animals. if you're not Canadian, you might not get this, but it goes something like...
Please, take my animals."
"Oh no, I have plenty of my own. I insist you keep them."
"No, really! They're a gift from me to you! I insist you keep them."
"No. Seriously. I'm good. They're all ours."
"Oh, but I brought them especially for you..."
And so forth, all accompanied by very forced smiles that are secretly hiding the "I want to kill you" look.
Oh, my... that's so true! (Maybe not quite the "I want to kill you" look at the end. We're Canadians after all. ;) )

A record of WHO'S history, though, @Adrienne B - and why does it SKIP over huge parts of it? Would it be nice to know what became of some of the OTHER descendants of Noah, say, and what they did, and how God interacted with THEM?

@@chrissonofpear1384 it is Israel's history as recorded by Moses and the historians and prophets that came after him. Israel is the focus because it was through that geneological line and people that the Son of Man (Jesus) was born that God spoke of during Adam and Eve's eviction from the Garden who would crush the serpent (Satan) and reconcile the sins of the world.
I don't know all God's reasons for why He has allowed Satan to do what he has. God has a perspective on what has taken place and what is yet to come that I don't have. What I do know is the fate God has awaiting Satan for all he has done.

I suppose it is pointless to point out that according to the story Issac was born in 1956 BCE and died in 1776 BCE at age 180 (after Yahweh said no one would live longer than 120 years). That would have the story of Isaac taking place from the 20th to 18th century BCE.
Meanwhile in the real world,
“The Philistines were an ancient people who lived on the south coast of Canaan from the 12th century BC until 604 BC, when their state, after having already been subjugated for centuries by Assyria, was finally destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia, after which they disappeared from history”
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philistines
So the Philistines would not have been contemporaries of the Hebrews for another 600 years.
@@oscargordon after the flood there was a gradual decline in life expectancy till the maximum one could expect would be 120 years, which is still true today. Issac was born during that period of decline so he lived longer than 120 years but far less than most of his ancestors. So God fulfilled that promise but not right away.
I'm not sure what point you are making about the Philistines. They are not listed in the Bible as existing in Issac's lifetime but at the 12th century BC would overlap the time of the Judges in Israel. Please clarify.

I want to say first thank you for this video.

Not everyone takes the Bible as some kind of foundational point on which to live their lives.
Western governments were under the control of The Church for 2,000+ years, so it's understandable that it still remains such an influential factor in our lives.
However, with the social, political, and scientific advancements we humans have made, we've begun to see that the enforced doctrines, laws and "morality" of the Bible's view of the world don't stand up against rational thought and basic objective reasoning.
So, in order to *make* the Biblical worldview applicable to everyday life, people like you (Morris Lewis), turned it into a more of an esoteric exercise.
