MeTV has reruns every weekday. Also Rawhide, Wanted-Dead or Alive, The Rifleman, Bonanza, Have Gun-Will Travel, and more. Great stuff for a guy who grew up in the 50’s and 60’s.

I was born in the early 70s. My grandmother loved this show so much I watched it almost daily until the mid 80s. This show was in reruns forever. Probably still is.

I saw Milburn Stone in an interview after his heart attack, when he told of how touching it was to get letters from GIs in Viet Nam, and how they said : "Doc, don't die !" These were guys in a war zone, worried about him.

If using that limp, was getting kind of old for Chester, they could have just had doctor Galen Adams, to do surgery and fix his leg, and then he wouldn't have been bothered with doing that the rest of his time, I guess nobody thought of it?!!!

I remember James Arness once said, he wasn't going to take the part of Matt Dillon because he thought it would get in the way of his surfing.

When they mentioned Gilligan's Island, it would have been funny if they had coordinated it with that shot of Alan Hale Jr punching Matt in the stomach (6:08).

"Let"s get the F--k out of Dodge, was a common phrase when I was in High school during the late 70's. You didn't focus much on Ken Curtis, who was fantastic. He was a prominent singer in the group ' Sons of the Pioneers' who were "rock stars" in their day. I think he was my favorite. You didn't even mention Burt Reynolds.

I"m about the same age, and I used to watch the opening gun fight and always did a hard fall, like the guy shot on TV. I haven't done it since I was about twelve, and would probably break something now. (It did hurt a little doing that fall on a concrete floor, as part of a school skit).

Dr was too small to be a physical threat and Arness probably respected him for having the guts to call him out. How many smaller men would get in the face of a a 6'7" athletically built Arness.

I've been a big fan of Gun smoke since the early 60s, but I never noticed Matt twirl his six shooter after making a shot like he did at 1:50. That was impressive.😊

Some of the scenes shown were from the Ray Milland movie "A Man Alone" (1955), a film in which he was both the star and director. It's a pretty good psychological western.

The Festus Hagen charcacter on Gun Smoke went to the various social events of small towns in the south and southwest to be the eemmcee at open air shows at carnivals etc. He was the town favorite. I wonder why James Arness didn't like him. SRM
