  • In Alaska, there are several different kinds of fox, including the red fox, the winter fox or Arctic fox, the hybrid fox or cross fox, including the silver fox, black fox, blue fox, etc. I recently did a video showcasing the many foxes I’ve had the privilege of photographing while spending time in the wilds of Alaska. As I mentioned in that video, foxes warm up to humans very quickly, even in extremely remote places where very few humans go. And while they may interact in a very friendly, tame manner, it’s always important to keep them wild by NOT feeding them or doing anything that would make them dependent on people.
The video clips you’re seeing here are of some of the foxes on Kodiak Island Alaska, who along with being very comfortable around people, also seemed to get along quite well with the massive Kodiak bears. I shot this footage at a wilderness camp that I worked at for several summers along the Ayakulik river on Kodiak. This family of foxes came around quite often to see what we are up to. And again, as you can see here, they were quite comfortable around the local Kodiak bears who passed through on an almost daily basis while fishing for salmon.
