Indeed. I’m a master level certified throws official and had the chance to officiate Adam Nelson in his prime. You get a thrill as an official seeing someone that accomplished.
I'm so very jealous of people in the u.s every time he sets a WR or produces a really big one. Some athletic fans get distracted by the tracks even in his presence but haven't lived at all if you ask me! Ryan is absolutely GOAT!
Ryan Crowser is a G.O.A.T and in Germany he is almost unknown. Unfortunately, only football counts here, even though we're only third-rate there. As a young man, I also did competitive shot put. I was county champion there, despite jabbing 25 feet less than Ryan. On Saturday he set a new unbelievable world record of 23.38 m. For the sports badge in Gold (Sportabzeichen in Gold) you have to throw 7.5 m in Germany. So this 23.38 is incredible.
I know Germany has tons of great throwers like Storl, Harting, and Vetter, but still Ryan is little known...? Perhaps it's about the general public and I hope not among the athletic community itself. In any case, Ryan has been no doubt one of the most underated for the years, so we have to spread the word about this legend.
I don't get it. This guy just threw the biggest shot put throw in the history of the sport and no one celebrates it appropiately? I guess I'll never comprehend the US-sport celebration culture.
They should not have done so. The implement only needs to be recertified by the weights and measures crew and then it can be immediately returned for continued use in the competition. Whoever kept it was in error.
The ignorance in American Sports always amazes me. They always talk about Jordan, Brady and even Tiger Woods as the best athletes. They don’t even recognize what Ryan has been doing consistently. This guys is one the best athletes in the whole world, period!
@@CoHawk73 True.. That only shows the ignorance and poor knowledge of the American sport media. Golf is just a game, not a sport. Even Donald Trump can play golf..🤣🤣
I mean... Shot put is an event in Track and Field... and clearly Ryan is the best ever... but it doesn't make him the best athlete. Athletics implies more than just mastery of a single event. That's why the decathlon is often discussed in the best athlete ranks because they demonstrate speed, strengths, hops, power, technique, all of it. Ryan is a beast and as a former college thrower, I'm not out here defending hoops over throwing, but to say Ryan is on the level of Jordan or Brady is kinda silly. As for Woods, he's the best golfer ever, but I don't consider him anywhere near the top of the best athletes regardless of all his acolades.
I am a master level certified throws official, and seeing this is just so wonderful. A correction on one thing the commentators mention though- this is ONLY an indoor world record, not indoor and outdoor. The indoor shot put is different in its composition than the outdoor one that is made of steel, instead being made of a hard plastic shell with a filler material that brings it to the necessary 7.26kg weight. They usually throw on a different surface than the cement outdoor circle (quite often the circle indoors is constructed of wood). These factors can change the way a throw can occur, so for equity sake they separate indoor from outdoor records. It’s the same for jumps and track events. The other question I would ask is if they verified the distance with a STEEL measurement tape, and verified the distance with a total of three certified officials. Those things have to happen for a record to be accepted.
@@RocketSauce666 he's made some pretty high quality stuff and he does his research. Like his whole controversy over Devon Allen's false start, and why they should lower the false start time to .073 or something like that.
I doubt that he gets 80 ft. That's exactly one meter more than this throw, and he is already pushing the boundaries of what's possible. I estimate that he will hit 23.60-23.70 before his career is over, but he won't go over 24. 80 ft is 24.38m.
Do You assume that from Your own distance difference? Mechanically its not even close. But we can see he can take more risk. But would he with Kovacs on his heels? Only if he has to.
@@Ghoster311 I assume they weigh the implements as well. I’m not saying Crouser cheated, I’m just pondering sound record confirmation procedure for any throwing event.
@@headlibrarian1996 Yeah, that's why all of his other throws weren't as good. They took his shot and went to weigh it, so he had to use a shot that he wasn't used to throwing. If they had waited until the end of the meet, I think he might've gotten 2-3 more 23m throws.
It has not been ratified. The 23.38 no longer appears on the top lists, only as his result in the simplot games where it is noted as IRM: irregular measurement. Not sure what that is about...
why are we in 2023 measuring the landing point of the shot by eye of two judges and then using a tape to determine the length. we have camera technology used in tennis to tell if a ball was in by MM why cant we use that for accurate measurements. Not taking anything away from this throw its an amazing world record but the sport should seriously consider updating these outdated methods going forward.
The record is not valid. The Ring diameter was to wide up to 2.18:instead of 2.135. The gradient over the distance was to step and not in rule with World Athletcs rules.

Thanks for coming to Idaho for this it was awesome to see you throw!

Yah, Americans like to dwell on the worthless narcissistic team sports they have run by the communist Chinese.
This guy and Kovacs made me more interested in the shot put event in the last 12 months.
