- New England Conservatory brass ensemble Massed Brass, led by Norman Bolter, performs Richard Strauss' Feierlicher Einzug during the annual Brass Bash concert.
NEC brass students perform with their BSO teachers in this annual concert in NEC's Jordan Hall. Founded by NEC brass and percussion chair Frank Epstein, Brass Bash puts the spotlight on current and former Boston Symphony Orchestra members who teach at NEC, along with their students.

The control of the trombones is excellent in this performance, especially because of the massive size of the section. I played this in all-state band back in the day, and the tuba player who was my section leader said this piece always made him "feel like he was flying". I still love this piece to this day.
Fabulous ensemble playing for such a young and large ensemble!
The control of the entire ensemble is impressive. An overlooked skill to really listen everyone around oneself and sound as a collective whole. Bravo!
Funny enough, we barely rehearsed this piece. Mr. Bolter just got us into a mode to just perform this piece
Its ALL about the PHRASING !!!
Bravo maestro Bolter......saludos Efren Flores de Puerto Rico
A very mighty brass ensemble. Wow.
Beautiful!
wonderful performance of a great piece (I had never heard it before). Lovely to see such a large ensemble playing it so well!
Outstanding.
Excellent!
Increíble, no había visto antes tantos mentales juntos, que bello seria tocar con ustedes. Felicitaciones por su talento y auto-disciplina. Namaste!
15 horns (french)? that's amazing.
14, but whos counting
That many trombones in one group is almost scary!

Great playing - enjoyed hearing this rarity by Strauss.
(Appropos of nothing, I'll never understand why partially bald, middle-aged men grow a ponytail.) 🤷♂️
Not a bad performance, but they should of added the organ.
The organ doesnt work
This piece is written to include organ, and there's a pipe organ right there. Shame on them.
Organ was an afterthought. This is the original score.
Ever play this? I have. It's rugged but worth it. One if the most satisfying compositions to play if you're a brass musician.
Lol you think there’s a pipe organ there, but actually that thing has been broken for like 20 years, we haven’t been able to use it since like the early 2000s
The trumpets are completely out of tune at 2:00
There is some disagreement about the pitch, but "completely out of tune" is a bit harsh. Let's hear you play this piece.
Your mom is out of tune
@@blogger1947 Well even if I played it badly or well it doesn't change the fact that it's out of tune......
Yes, they are a bit. Not terribly but YES out of tune...slightly.
They were out of tune at 1:36 too 😂😂😂
What a shit, this is the same composer of the masterpiece Salomé... Very interessant!
