Beth is the first female football player to win this prestigious award and it's fully deserved. She is such an important role model to further female football in the UK. Beth and Viv looked absolutely fantastic at the award ceremony. So beautiful to see so many colleagues celebrating this huge success. As much as it's sad to see both Beth and Viv most probably not making it back in time for the Worldcup as well as for Arsenal, it was amazing to see how well Arsenal played its last Champions League group stage match in Zurich (probably also for Beth and Viv), winning it 9:1. The latest rumour is that Dutch international player Victoria Pelova (Ajax Amsterdam) is almost certain to join Arsenal in the winter break.
I’m from the uk and as soon as the voting opened for the spoty award I texted all my friends some of which had never heard of Beth mead to vote for her 😂 at least I can say I played a part in helping her win ;)
I'm so happy for Beth, and I didn't know about her mum's illness; it makes the Euros win and the SPOTY award all the more important. The usually impassive Viv got emotional, and so did I.

Biv is the flavour of the month no doubt but there has been some top Tobin & Christen/Sam & Kristie content recently too. I know Beth won that award based largely on her performances with the Lionesses but for a WSL player to win such a prestigious award, it will do wonders for women's football in England going forward.

If Beth wasn’t injured then would most likely have sent in a video recording and been streamed after the Zurich match. The person who came second in the spoty awards was on video and bbc sent him a replica of his award to show to the audience.
being british I cant get across what a big deal this is because football is such a big deal over here but as a mens sport. there is so much sexism against women playing. so much casual sexism by football fans. so for the british public to vote first for Gill and then for Beth feels like such a big deal and such a change of general perception. yes the Incels still post their twisted nonsense, but regular ordinary people now see womens sport for what it is and are enjoying it and in some instances prefer it.
Hope Santa brought Beth a proper suit jacket to wear. That one from the recycling should really have been put in the trash. (or mebbe Beth should go on a panel show? Get her jacket filled in)
