Thank you for this video. I lost out on 2 jobs last year after making it to the final interview round and both times the company went with the internal candidate. Another factor is that I have been with my current company for 11 years and am wondering if this is a red flag for employers. Would love your perspective on making a change/career move after a long term with one company. (I've stayed for so long primarily because of the family friendly policies, but am now ready for something bigger, better and new!) Thank you!
I was in a similar situation, and started a role in a new company 6 months ago after being with my previous employer for 10 years. During the interview, I said I’ve never been interested in applying externally to other companies until I saw this role because it seemed so in line with my experience and I talked about how passionate I am about their company. I then said I’m looking to make a long term impact at this company similar to my time at my previous employer. It’s more of a green flag having loyalty for a company that long, then jumping around every few years.

0:47 - you have a gun 😳?
No, I was saying “if you have done a good job” but switched over to succeeding instead. My bad!
If I am competing with an internal candidate I’m not interested - I have 10 years in oil & gas
