- Female gorilla Momoka was following and tried to touch her baby sister Sumomo, but Sumomo moved away from her.
When auntie gorilla Toto came nearby, Sumomo went to Toto.
Sumomo is so attached to Toto and often clings to her. Toto just let her stay with her.
Momoka came next to Toto and Sumomo and groomed Sumomo.
Baby Sumomo was watched over by her auntie and siblings.

Baby Sumomo quickly realised that if she was tired or needed some quiet time or even just someone to cuddle then beautiful Aunt Toto was the someone to go to. Playtime is kept for big brother Riki, he has been so kind to his baby sister. 🙋♀️🦍🇬🇧

@@donjuan6940 My comment had nothing to do with “ letting them live their lives”. They ARE living their lives. My comment was a suggestion for the zoo to think about providing them with some enrichment toys or activities so they have something to do while they are out in the yard.
Toto is the best auntie ever 🥰🥰🥰🥰 And it also helps that she is the lowest ranking gorilla in the family ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
To supposedly be "low ranking", she seems well loved within the troop.
@@HSR-bk5qb Do you know anything about Gorillas 🦍?? in gorilla politics, they have the silverback and he gets food water everything first before anybody, the head female and the head females children are first also the other females and their children are well loved and taken care of, but is the head honcho that get everything look it up.
@@HSR-bk5qbI don't really think the hierarchy is strong with the smaller gorilla families. Now if this was a harem, maybe, but it's just a few mates for Haoko. Plus, they're really docile. All seem very submissive in nature.
Aunt Toto's belly is bigger and makes a better pillow.

That baby is independent unless she's frightened by something. The Ole folks used to say that when a baby can just go off by themselves all the time, Mama is expecting again.lol

I feel sorry got little Sumomo. She does not get any affection from her mother. She touches Toto but I have not seen Toto touching her back in a loving way. She cuddles to Toto but there is really no reaction from Toto.

Maybe baby Sumomo has chosen Aunt Toto because she does not enjoy being held and hugged, Sumomo quickly escapes when Komomo and Momoka want to cuddle with her. She is a very independent little girl and Toto just allows her to do her own thing. I love how she seeks out big brother Riki when she is in playful mood. 🙋♀️🦍🇬🇧
As I've tried to explain in terms people understand...when you were 2, did you want to be held or cuddled much? Most infant gorillas are learning their independence and exploring. They don't want to be confined for long periods of time. You're expecting this to play out like humans, but gorilla affection is a bit different. It also depends on the temperament of who the infant gorilla is showing attention to.
I believe Toto gives sumono what she craves most. A sense of safety and well being. Toto allows her to explore and yes relax on her plump belly. Toto never pushes her away. on occasion I’ve seen all the troop push her away except for Toto. It appears affection or even nursing isn’t what Sumomo needs. Just a sense of stability especially when daddy is moody! I believe Haoko frightens her very much.
