@@TheAscendedTechNinja yeah, the new codec, V5.3 and new huge battery. Auracast™ and partyboost. Alot of features. Otherwise it's still the same. Kind of sucks
@@HAIYANE9910 Seems like you know a lot about this speaker in particular. Please, elaborate on how it's kind of the same, but at the same time, you said the bass is less punchy kinda "Bull****". I need all sources of your info confirming all this without simply judging it by appearance, and just from hearing it on a video where we all know that hearing it in person is the best way to judge a speaker. Like, why make a product that's way worse than the previous iteration? I need to understand the seemingly degoratory statements you comment about this speaker, even on the previous video. So, spec-wise; According to one of the official JBL support sites(spanish), the woofers got a bump in wattage(30 Watts, on AC mode), and the tweeters got a 5 wattage reduction(20 Watts on AC). On battery though, the watts go down by 10 watts on the woofers, and 15 watts on the tweeters. However, one thing that caught my attention is the frequency response. The previous iteration had 54Hz - 20KHz. This one hits around 44Hz - 20Khz, so I find your claim about it being "less punchy", quite confusing. It also charges a bit faster, and of course, a lot of features has changed. Disappointingly though, it doesn't have a jack input. But the newer codecs and updated bluetooth should make up for it. Right, the battery capacity has almost been doubled from the looks of it. The previous one had a 36WH, this one has a whopping 68WH. Oh, right we're talking about your claims with the Xtreme 4. You must either be: A sound engineer, or have seen and heard it in person, or.. Just spreading misinformation? But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that this speaker may not be your taste. @@HAIYANE9910 I really hate how the treble is represented on Xtreme 3, so harsh... My next speakers are supposed to be Go+Play 3 and Xtreme 4, but if the treble is still bad on Xtreme 4, I will skip it. I'm already mad that I spent money on Xtreme 3...
@@ThibautMahringer my bad, if this thing had a subwoofer it makes help to warmernize sound, just like the Boombox 3, now sounded quit muffledly warm, not only because of latest firmwares, but the EQ now useful because it now follows whatever it setup. Unlike out of the box Boombox 3 which sounds very harsh and the EQ can't or the Boombox 3 even the 3 band tone controls still uncontrolled. Now sounds like if you place to the +2 sounds alot of bass, fairly keeping up with Boombox 3 WiFi. And now sounds quite flat expt the 730hz massive overboost mids which you can fix now using the middle EQ of 3 bands, -2 and since the treble already sounded quite muffled don't need to put in -1 or -2 at all
@@HAIYANE9910 Boombox 3 have specific dips and peaks that make the 3 band JBL EQ quite unsatisfactory to use. If you indeed reduce mids to tame the harsh 700hz mids peak, you also reduce mids under 600hz and upper mids above 800hz that are already lacking without EQ... If the bass of Boombox 3 is something you truly want, I'd recommend the Partybox Encore, it can match the Boombox 3 in bass, but it doesn't have the harsh mids. On my Encore I simply put the bass to +1 and treble to -1, and it sounds good with no distracting dips and peaks to the ear. Only issue being the not good battery life... Personally I've got both the Partybox Encore and Boombox 2, both with +1 bass and -1 treble. Really happy with how both of these sound.
@@Caantiee I have both Xtreme 3 and Charge 5, and while I prefer how Charge 5 is tuned overall (less harsh), Xtreme 3 goes deeper. Xtreme 3 does reach 50hz, Charge 5 have a hard time even reaching 55hz. However to compensate, Charge 5 is a bit more punchy in the upper bass, which helps it to hide a bit that lack of depth Xtreme 3 is really harsh at max volume, so is Charge 5 but it's more glaring with Xtreme 3 as it's tuned harsh at all volumes. That nasty treble propably eats on the bass. Testing at ~70% should be better to hear the difference
@@ThibautMahringer i think charge 5 is just a little boombox 3, the xtreme 3's bass is just not all that impressive for its size, the charge 5's bass is very impressive for its size.
@@Caantiee Oh definitely ! Reaching a somewhat hearable 55hz at this size is really impressive. Charge 5 does match Xtreme 2 at reasonable volumes, under 60%. Xtreme 3 is nowhere near being the king of bass depth for its size. And it have too much issues to be enjoyable to me.
No. The 44hz is another lie. They can't match the movement from Boombox 2 which is only 50hz! The movement from charge 5 is also abit better than Xtreme 3 and 4! Despite it's only 60-65hz! The Boombox 2 and charge 5 are way more excursion than modern Xtremes! So this 44hz is scam!(don't let yourself fall in budol²) stupid lies! And yes the Xtreme 4 is even softer than Xtreme 3 specially GG!!
PRs are tuned to a specific frequency, 60hz on the Boombox 2 for example barely makes the PRs move, because they are tuned lower at around 47hz. Charge 5 PRs are tuned at around 65hz, so that’s where they move the most.
@@ThibautMahringer but still charge 5 has more movement than Xtreme 3. Techder audios also prove that. So Xtreme 4 moves like still Xtreme 3. But has alittle upgrade to bass
Boombox 2 bass rated at 50hz and reality, the extension was all the way to 38hz but 45hz on Boombox 3 is alot of movement. Than oviosly rated 44hz of Xtreme 4. Any frequency in Xtreme 4 sounded like not far of movements. Unlike Boombox 2 which. If you place Boombox 2 to 50hz sweep, passive radiators move abit less. When 45hz moves alot, Xtreme 3/4 best movement was in 50hz 44hz below do not move that much even worse than that anymore
@@HAIYANE9910 You're right, Charge 5 move a lot, however massive movement doesn't mean actual hearable depth. Charge 5 small PRs might try to reach lower, but they can't as they're tuned a lot higher and limited by the laws of physics (small speaker can only push so much air)
You all are wrong lol it has a more flat bottom so it is WAY more stable and unpushable than the xtreme 3 which i have and the 4 goes 9!! Hz lower it has a way better bass response and richer and deeper bass its insane for this size. And battery from 18h to 24h (+6h) is again alsmost doubled. Im selling my xtreme 3 on ebay and getting this one for SURE. Way better bass, but the boomboxes are too big so the new xtreme 4 is perfect, insane bass at still relatively small design
