His average of 28% explains it all. Bowlers like Ashwin have similar average.
Waqar is considered one of the most inauspicious figures in the history of world cricket. He was injured during the 1992 World Cup, and Pakistan went on to become champions without him. In the 1996 World Cup, Pakistan lost to India, largely due to his performance. In 1999, he played only one match against Bangladesh, and Pakistan lost. In 2003, Pakistan lost again under his captaincy. In 2011, Pakistan lost to India when he was the coach. He later took on roles as coach, mentor, and commentator, and Pakistan often struggled during his tenure. In commentary, whenever his turn came, it seemed like wickets fell, and Pakistan lost the game. He made controversial remarks about Rizwan’s prayer during an India vs. Pakistan game, which many found distasteful, revealing a lack of education and tolerance. Additionally, he moved to Australia for a better life but reportedly struggled to find a job there. Recently, he was appointed again by the PCB, and Pakistan lost 2-0 to the Bangladesh Test team, who could hardly believe they could win a Test against a top cricket-playing nation. The PCB adopted the Kookaburra ball on Waqar's recommendation, but now he’s saying it shouldn't be used in the domestic circuit. This clearly shows his hypocrisy.
