@@billarabga1055 Kishane's potential in the 100m is higher than Noah's. I don't believe that Noah "holding form" will get the job done every time against Kishane because Kishane is four years younger with a greater span for potential. The ability is there for Kishane to win against Noah in the 100m if he's injury free and prepared to RISE to the occasion.
I will always give Noah Lyles credit for RISING to the occasion. He rose and got the smallest of edges against Kishane in the Olympic Finals. Kishane must RISE to the occasion in the big moments. However, that is not going to work every time. Kishane has mid-9.7 potential, or maybe higher. Noah will have to go higher at age 27 going on 28; not just "hold form."

That 9.58 by Bolt may not be broken for awhile. I mean, I think you said the current “fastest man” ran a 9.79 which is awesome, of course. But that’s still two-tenths off Bolt’s record which is a lot in a 100 meters. But I watched Bolt every Olympics and I rooted for him even though I’m American. He was incredible. But he seemed to always get a slow start. If somebody in the future could run like Bolt but get quickly out of the blocks then that guy could take the record.

Kishane Thompson is one of the most talented athletes in track and field today and he has a great opportunity to win more medals at the World and Olympic Stage. Unfortunately, until he fixes this injury prone-ness and can operate a full season, it will difficult for him to reach such elite times, especially at the time of the World Or Olympic Championship.
A lot of people emphasised last year he would run 9.6 and I think that expectation was too much too soon for him considering where he was at in his career. Kishane definitely needs more frequent races and less injuries to pull this feat as well winning major titles. Hopefully he can qualify from nationals this year and get to Tokyo for the Worlds.

This man lightening and we may have an opportunity to see someone who could truly compete with Bolt's record in the future given staying healthy.

i still think that a big factor in that final was the lane draw next to Kerley, in all his other races with the exception of 1 race next to Seville he was either outside or next to nobody significant, i think it was his mental game that let him down in the Olympic final cos Kerley was with him step for step right upto the line and u can clearly see in the replays of that race that Thompson was running tight and not flowing as in previous races, i think once he gets that mental aspect of racing buttoned down he is gonna walk everyone, not 9.58s speed but possibly 9.65s

This year means new training for Thompson - Far too many races he only ran 90m before shutting down. His subconscious mind, his muscle memory, and mental attitude All needs improvement here. More fluid helps decrease muscle cramps and injury. He also needs to lose a little weight and do more speed endurance by competing in a few 200m & 400m to give the stamina of speed endurance. This should be his training plan. He has a lot to change in 2025. there are many faster finishers from the 60m to 100m line where this is his weak zone. Remember this rhyme "Speed through the line will give you a better time". Still we need to keep an eye on him as i'm sure Noah Lyles will do

I feel like the reason he split a slower time in the olympics was because he had a quite slow reaction time, plus the shock seeing Kerley absolutely run away from him in the first 10 meters plus the pressure. His potential was def low 9.7. • @TheWayWithKhuwayne
      @TheWayWithKhuwayne 15 днів тому +4

@fedsio1519 He has never been in a major final where he had to run full out without slowing down. With most of the men in that final, they tried to put more effort into their running and trying to force themselves through the race when they were decelerating, including Kishane.
Meanwhile, Noah, who was in last place from the start, didn't panic, maintained his form, didn't force his acceleration, and won the race by his top end speed and dip at the line. Noah's ability to hold his acceleration longer than many sprinters gave him a great edge for many races and why he won the Olympic title.
If Kishane has any hopes of winning a major title, he will have to run his races full out to get familiar with his mechanics to avoid bad habits, and he needs to be healthy.

Now that being said, I would have to agree that people severely underestimate Noah. Especially when his reaction time was the slowest in the field and with one like Kerleys, he wouldve run like 9.72 which is would put him like 5th all time. And Kishane whouldve run 9.72 as well, but would have been 7/100ths of a second slower rather than 5 (which is what actually happened) which still places Noah as faster.

I've wondered this myself. I have a feeling his size and strength is allowing him the enormous force output and if he lost weight it may well result in slower times. I say this because whilst nowhere near his capability, I got much faster the heavier I got with the increase in strength. That said, it increases injury risk as well. But I think 🤔 agree if he could take maybe 5 to 10 off the upper body

@duncanharvey2209 actually no... the photo wasn't clear... I'm a photographer, so I am aware of how easy it is to distort any feature of any photo... this is often done by the lens itself... in the case of sprinting, you would need multiple cameras shooting bursts that can be stacked and compared as a composite at the finish, along with using lasers or whatever else is available.
The photos published after each race, in my opinion, showed clear distortion in every close race they were shown. I think the photos were merely interpreted and assigned times based on visual interpretation, not scientific analysis

If you want to understand more about it, just google the Omega photo timing system. 5 thousandths of a second in sprinting is also not as "close" as people think. Amazing how I've not even heard of him when he only missed out on Olympic Gold by 5 thousands of a second

Dude that’s the problem with the Olympic cycle. Only winners get the biggest of headlines. Even silver (by 0.005) is just such a footnote . Hopefully Kushan’s can turn it around in 2025

You must be a casual fan. He's been running for 3 years but he keeps getting injured. He was all the talk in 2024 after he ran the 9.77 at Jamaican trials leading up to the Olympics.

Given the fraction of a fraction of a second that separates the times of these sprinters, it's easy to understand the temptation to do what Ben Johnson, Marion Jones, and perhaps Flo-Jo, did to get the edge over the competition.

No it's not, that's cheating. You are either fast enough to compete or you are not! A lot of athletes have accepted this reality and that's the easiest thing to do, period!

As time moves on so does the evolution of track and field athletes example is Armand Duplantis in the Pole Volt who has improved the world record height several times ....Are you saying you are unwilling to believe athletes who perform well are all on drugs? Training and nutrition plus natural talent speaks volumes or do you still think no one can run faster than a 4min mile otherwise they would die lol History has proven different !!

@@purevybzradio2065 , I merely employed the word "temptation." I accused no current athletes of giving in to the temptation.
