"There's a lot of thought and planning that goes into making a carving."
"In order to be creative, I've got to get out in the country and get some inspiration."
I thought it would be a lot of fun to carve a brook trout pendant, so me and Pearl are heading to the upper meadow to see if I can catch a few."
I've been fishing this stream all my life. And a willow stick fishing pole works just as good today as it did back when I was a kid."
"Fishing the upper meadow brings back a lot of good memories."
"Brook Trout are small, but the creek is chalked full of them."
"I think they're one of the most beautiful trout that the Lord has made."
"In our opinion, they're the best tasting trout there is!"
"I'm going to make this little pendant from a piece of Pacific Yew wood"
"I really like the way yew wood carves. It holds the detail well, and is a nice hard wood."

Nothing better than catching some small brooke trout in the mountains then cooking them up 😍 they fight like a bigger fish and taste even better. Very nice work that pendant turned out great

You are undoubtedly the best al-round artist I've had the pleasure to meet ( not in person, but by your videos ). Maybe some that watch your videos don't realize how much goes into what you do. Visualizing the finished product in your mind, studying your subject, drawing in scale what you want, carving in detail every aspect of you subject, finishing by painting in accurate realism. I applaud your outstanding commitment to everyone of your artist endeavors!!!

So beautiful to watch the mastercarver first enjoy the environment of his subject, feast on fish and memories, and begin to work. Little carvings for many are rushed, uneven, sortof "just get it done." Not yours. You lavish as much love on a little brook trout as you do on your incredible walking sticks and canes. No detail is ignored, and the result is enchanting. Bless your talent. Bless you.

I caught brookies my entire life fly fishing here in Pennsylvania. There’s a brook trout fingerling hatchery farm less than 2 miles from my place. Your tiny pendant is so accurate and realistic it’s just surreal. I’m also new to woodworking and your carving and painting is the best I’ve ever seen. You are amazingly talented and inspiring sir.
