Thank you so much Nigel, I am a subscriber from the USA. I have recently purchased a 1/96 scale Saturn V. And I just now ordered the block 2 kit. I never could have known about the kit without your help. So this Yank thanks you oh so much.

This (real space) model now comes with separate command module and Block 2 service module (not combined) includes the 4 thrusters. Excellent model.

Really enjoying this series of space related videos. The Apollo(s) and Shuttle builds are very instructive despite the basic nature of the models. Seams and panels lines are still a challenge and your approach is very helpful. Many thanks.

Nice upgrade Nigel. That will be the focal point of the build.

Good video Nigel and good idea about a possible group purchase; totally agree with you about the extra charges when buying from the US. Just bought some replacement engines for the 1/144 Revell Space Shuttle from them, outstanding pieces, really nice work.

Good video Nigel. Unfortunately the CSM on this model is not even a Block I, it's a bit of a fantasy. The glycol radiators, S-band antennas etc. are completely wrong. I also seem to remember you asking a question about why some people paint the F-1s and J-2s red. That's because there are a great many images of the S-I and S-II stages showing the exhaust bells with their red protective covers still on. Also, neither the Airfix or Revell kit's have the correct configuration of the F-1 with batted TPS. The S-I and S-IB H-1s weren't batted as their bell surface area was so much smaller than the Vs.

Hi Nigel, I used your video to help myself through the Revell Saturn V 1:144 as it was my first ever attempt at a model kit, so thank you for that. I want to add a Mercury Redstone model and just wondered what your thoughts are on the RealSpace resin models? Is resin harder to work with over plastic?

Those Resin Parts are smaller than 96:1, the CSM is quite a bit smaller than the Revell CSM

      Is the Revell too big?

The Revell CSM will sit on top of the Model, can't say the Resin one will.
I bought the Revell 96:1 Saturn V Kit over 20 yrs ago, I still haven't assembled it. I originally built the 96:1 CSM & LM back in 1970, as a Revell, Columbia and Eagle kit

Hi Nigel, did you get a bulk order of the Realspace CSM's and if so, do you have any left?

I've watched your review on real models. Com & think that's a great idea for ordering in as I'm thinking about getting 1:96 .

darn it, too late. I've already got one of the CSM kits on the way after finding your unboxing vid for the Revell kit. Found Amazon had a good deal on the main kit approx 1/2 normal price. The Revell kit arrived today and was sent straight back, looks like the Hermes courier football squad had kicked the box from one end of the country to the other, box was totally ripped apart, bent and holes punched in it.

Sorry to hear that Andrew. Unfortunately, due to poor packaging, the contents will be all too easy to damage in this kit. I think I mention this in my review. If you have an Antics nearby, they'll do it for you for £65 if you ask nicely, and get them to ring Jonathon at the warehouse. Mention me.. they'll definitely match the £65 for you then.

@@NigelsModellingBench Finally picked up my CSM kit from the Mail Depot this morning, they'd had it for a fortnight but hadn't put a card through the door. minimal clean up to do. Got a set of thrusters from shapeways to use rather than use the donor parts from the Revell Saturn V. Looking forward to more vids in this series.

I'm trying to find the correct color of the engine paint inside the cone the instructions read a red color I can't see that on any pictures on the internet seems to be a green color any idea?.

Young builders were the target group in the 50's & 60's. I look at most of my built kits from where I sit in my room. Most of the time detail isn't even a factor. The older kits are a bit more affordable as the cost of plastic today is climbing. You cannot trust in newer kits either as Nigel just put out his prop correction video for the 1/32 scale B-24. So even if you are spending hundreds of dollars on kits, they still could be inaccurate. The Matchbox SBD Dauntless in 1/32 scale is pitiful in detail. Sometimes it is enjoyable to detail where it is not provided. Thanks to Nigel, we now know about quirks. The difference from 1/32 scale to 1/96 doesn't look that drastic in size.

Good video Nige, shipping is a bit high, but duty? Ridiculous.... the government is greedy.

Shipping on Ebay has just way out of hand. The sellers are making a lot of money on the shipping. I have been selling and buying since 1999 and I am just about ready to give up on it. I mean paying $14.00 for something that costs $5.85 is just crazy. I love the "But I have to use my time and gas to drive to the Post Office" really got to me. Anyone feed up with those shipping costs?

I agree, but they are right for the most part. I don't know if I have ever made a dollar on shipping fees but I know I have lost a lot over the years. Prices have gone up too.
