Andre Ward interview is gold. Ward is gold, one of my favorite fighters and persons in boxing. SP, continue doing what you are doing, not everybody can retire on their own terms. Your retirement is the beginning of a great career. You were a great boxer, but you may be better at what you are doing now.
Whenever I'm talking boxing with anybody I always say Andre Ward is the most under appreciated boxers of all time. If somebody is talking about the greatest boxers of the last 20 years, Andre Ward has to be one of the first names you say. I didn't know a lot of this stuff about his childhood and it really makes me like him even more, and he was already one of my favorite boxers of all time. A lot of that stuff hits home with me and to see how you nagivagated through all of that and became one of the greatest boxers in history and more importantly such a great human being is inspiring. You deserve all the great things life has to offer.
real boxing oficisnados know SOG Ward is one of the greatest and did it on his own terms, the middleweight tournament solidified his skill and boxing knowledge/science. better than Mayweather and Roy Jones (in their prime too) to me.

You say his own terms well yea he either retired or fought misters in bivol betervive or if he dropped down David would welcome him but yea he was smart n took out running right when his name was finally being recognized also didn’t mayweather come out saying ward lost to kovalev first fight

Amazing episode! Had the pleasure of meeting Shawn and his father in 2019 in Vegas. Some of the most humble and kind human beings I've ever met. Ward is someone that I'd love to meet one day. A great guy all around.

Great in depth interview. I like that Shawn knew he was done before the Bud fight. I’m glad they both can walk away satisfied with their careers and not hang on too long and not let boxing control them.

Amazing stuff.. i remember early on i wasnt a fan of ward.Coming out of the Olympic he was what I envisioned he would be.BUT as i got rid of my biasis and realised who he was as a fighter and an athlete i truly appreciated him and his character.. LEGEND!!

Can't wait to see the Doc. Super articulate brothers, using the language of today. Both are engaged in asking important questions - to themselves, in order to understand who they are, how they got there and what are they evolving into. Sharing that, in order to save others the hardships of thinking that their out there alone. That others have experienced the path their on and here's some tips. Cool. Gotta respect guys who are engaged and not living in an isolated fantasy, unwilling to share it with anyone except their close circle of friends. The talk of retirement - comeback stuff - was poetic. Eye opener for anyone who thinks every boxer is coming back. Stop asking!

I grew up in Oakland ,I know the vibe from the hills to down on Martin Luther King avenue , Was good with almost everyone so got around , Andre a eighties baby , I was a handful of years older but no that time well , A lot of temptation , His dad passed when he was young and he needed him, His dad had boxed and martial arts I remember , His dad was still functioning as he partied a bit , Many like that , Some you wouldn’t suspect it of them, God bless Andre and I hope the best for him . Great interview. Porter continue to elevate. Andre has always been one of my favorite fighters. To this day I don’t think he gets the full credit for his greatness. I love these two brothers not just for what they did in the ring but the light they carry outside of the ring.
