Loved this game as a kid, there was a trick where if you started the race but didn't set off or accelerate at all and left it alone for a good while it would suddenly act like you had completed and won the entire game and then go through the entire game completion thing like you see at 23:00. Used to love listening to that tune 🥰
The day/night cycle really impresses on this. There's loads of really nice details as well. I think I remember it being criticised for stiff controls. That would be a shame because the games spiritual predecessor WEC Le Mans controlled really well
Damn it was stiff! I remember when I first played it, I thought that it wasn't turning because I wasn't pressing hard enough. My thumbs were aching after a few plays! XD
@@Misel982001 Because there are some ASIC features being used, which the original CPC doesn't have. All those subtly shifting colours from day to dusk, night and daybreak again, showcasing the 4096 colour palette...the DMA samples for the screeching tyres and the scratching of the car against the walls, the amazing animation when the car spins or goes flying into the air (with multidirectional scrolling, or screen-shake if you will), to name a few. Having said that, if BG were to handle such a port, I'n sure it'd come fairly close, if their amazing achievement called "Vespertino" is any indication.
The music sounds very rich and groovy and punchy. Good sound programming with the basic functions of the AY-Chip. No sync-waves or other tricks, but nevertheless really a nice piece for the ears. The game seems to be okay and fast enough.
Back in the days, my CPC 6128 was always plugged to a massive Ghetto Blaster, because the internal mini-speaker was a disaster. The AY-Chip can sound pretty good sometimes, so you HAVE TO use good speakers to enjoy.
@@GenMaster Yeah! "Venom strikes back" titel music plus massive speakers = PHATT! Or the sensational stuff you can here in a lot of scene-demos. The AY-Chip is not as bad as a lot of people think. It can sound fantastic if programmed with know-how and taste.

The soundtrack is by far the best part of this game
Yes!
You haven't played it, then.
How's that..? It doesn't even play during the gameplay 😆
Mon premier jeu Amstrad. Mon premier jeu tout court. Que de merveilleux souvenirs !
Idem
I can still sing that theme tune to myself 30 years later. Magic.
😀 SAME!!!! 😉
@@purplezebrahoover It's been ingrained in my brain for the last 30ish years!
Memory unlocked... always remember thinking I was getting closer to those mountains in the background but never seemed to get there lol
Damn, I miss this game! The Amstrad GX4000 was the first console I owned as a kid and this was awesome!

I don't care what anyone says, this game is *epic* !
@@GenMaster Damn right!
Thank you so much...my childhood memories
Nostalgia on level 1000 watching this LOL
Finally got to see the end screen.

hahaha yes i did that.
This game brings back so many memories!
Another classic game i loved playing in the 90s.growing up !!! Used to play this along with dizzy games on my big brothers amstrad

Great game and brings back memories, I was disappointed for not seeing the crash animation 😂 that was too funny 😊
wow this game brings back good memories, i remember buying the amstrad gx4000 and it came with this and we also bought navy seals
oh God, good old days...
I remember playing this with Fleetwood Mac in the background and drinking smart price cola with some smarties thrown in to make it taste sweeter.
Toute mon enfance
My first videogame ❤
