Acceleration at the start and top speed does not look like anything more than 200hp, and in such a light car I would have expected this car to be much faster than it was. Not hating, just puzzled.
@@eternalextrapolations they’re really not that light, around 1200kg with full tank and it’s a standard ratio EP3 gearbox. I can confirm it is significantly faster than my old cammed F4R
I believe the car was not running right - for 270 BHP not going over 110 MPH up Tiergarten was already a give away that the car maybe has a problem. Cool build tough
Hi, just to reiterate, I like your car. I would enjoy driving it. 1200kg sounds a little heavy for being stripped out but I accept your figure. Rough calculation from rolling start looks like 6 seconds to 60mph and 16 seconds to 100mph. From driving other Hondas with a standard B18C and K20, those performance figures can be matched. With 260hp and 200lb/ft I would expect faster and more top speed. That white Civic appeared to have more acceleration in a straight line. I accept with 2 guys onboard that can make all the difference. Things can feel different in the car that doesn't come across on video. Does it seem like it's making proper power?
@@eternalextrapolations Hearing the engine running, there is clearly something wrong.... The engine sometimes has difficulty revving, you can hear it very well. This car is broken.
@@s..a893 the whole drive train of a Renault Sport are shit. The MK2 F4R is awful, the MK3 is worse. Then you get into the F4RT in the Megane’s and they melt if pushed to hard. Awful in every way, gearboxes just as crap yes.

The supercharged one seems to be loads quicker, but then, although peak power is about the same, the area under the torque curve is probably far bigger. Supercharged one for me.
Definitely Needs a low Boost Turbo on it 0.7 Bar Would Take The Flat Spot Away Lower Down and keep the car Drivable without ruining the feel of the car.

not really. this is about the chassis more than (or at least as much as) the engine. basically the legendary chassis getting the engine & power it always deserved. these are usually swapped with the turbocharged megane rs engines, which in stock form are fine to 250 - 300 bhp. some track cars are running over 400 bhp. what is special about this particular one is the fact that it is still NA, but has a lot more power than it could with the renault engine. so yeah, amazing chasis meets an amazing engine basically. great car overall.
@@sys-administrator true, but requires a lot of effort and wouldn't result as reliable as a k-swap, as far as i know. i was similarly conservative on the numbers i gave for the megane engine. they can produce a lot more power but usually with problems, especially in a track application.
@@sys-administratorf4r engine is a complete piece of shite and won’t hold that power for more than 5 minutes even with a dry sump and closed deck built engine. The gearboxes are even worse. K24 can do a reliable 300 if it’s built. Renault did well with the chassis in the rs200 but they can’t and never could build a decent engine that can rival a Honda. Plus 90s double wishbone front and rear Honda are better handling anyway so Clios are a waste of time…sorry

Ive driven them all: f4r's, k24s, k20s all na, super and turboed and I can honestly say the f4r is by far the worst. It doesnt have the revs and has a very boring power curve. k20 is my best as you can race them at over 9k with an upgraded oil pump but k24 is still a very emotional and thrilling engine, the f4r in comparison is like a diesel
Cooling is key , first lap I ever did at the Nordschleife with Apex, there was a fire in the distance, few corners later a Mitsubishi Evo literally engulfed in flames, cooling is often overlooked 🤔
Is it me or does it seem down on power? I know the speedo sometimes lies and its hard to tell on video but my old cammed & stripped 182 seems quite a bit quicker

These cars are actually pretty reliable bar the syncromeshes. I know because I owned and abused one for several years. Sold it at around 120k miles. All it needed was basic consumables and a clutch & synchromesh refresh.
@@bozukbeyin I can only second that. Own one since 9 years and only had to perform regular maintenance, replace the timing belt twice and brake pads once. Not a single broken part ever. The most reliable car I ever had. Soon will have to look after the engine mounts but so far even the gearbox syncros dont make any problems...
Engine really doesn't sound happy - thought it was about to let go up the hill at 7:24. Possibly oil starve related as it sounds rough coming out of corners
Honda is something else. Pure engineering perfection. Plus you can feel their motorsports DNA and engineering genius in all of their sports cars and engines. For me, the most legendary name in motorsports history. Ferrari don't even come close. Maybe Ford does but Honda is the absolute legend. Amazing lap btw, Misha.
It is a great combination. But what's up with it only making 8000 rpms? It's lower than the stock K20 limiter. Also, you could notice jerkiness on gear change from not tuning the tip-pin.
@@iwantanewbike my bad, I got the engine's mixed up. This combination has been done and proven many times, the stock k20a2 limiter is historically proven to be safe enough with no high-revving supporting mods. There is no need to go lower.
@@viruxeryes it needed. Stock k24 oil pump only can go to 7800rpm, additionally, even with k20 oil pump, surpassing 7800 in a k24 means that piston speed is freaking high (around the same as 9k in a k20) and that will provoke wear in the long term

I don't know how and why but almost every onboard lap from misha seems to have a hyundai i20/30n just flying past everyone especially in the corners 😂

Basic builds are about the same peak bhp wise. It’s the torque and bhp the rest of the rev range that’s the advantage.
It's just a bog standard K20A head slapped on a K24A3 short block so quite basic. Make's good torque though which makes more use of the revs

Finally, the little Clio can keep up with the big boys..

Completely bizarre logic, it's a Renault Clio with Honda engine, does putting a Megane engine in it suddenly make it a Megane? No, it's a Clio.
