@@sallago2110 actually you are right, I checked, he had in fact just turned 36 (19 March), only a couple weeks before this game (3 April). So it is true, he was 36, but still, at that age his performance levels were very impressive. Similar to what we've seen from Chiellini at the Euros, when everybody said he was too old for todays fast paced game. And then held up the trophy in the end!

I hate how defence is one of the most underrated positions on the field. Me being a leftback I never get the appreciation as the forwards in my team. Maybe it's because I don't score spectacular goals, but many people don't realize that only scoring goals will not lead a team anywhere...you also need a good defence.

I play in all positions , I have started out as a defender, and now can play well at any position but not because of my experience as a defender, I had immense respect for a defender from before I started training, I never watched matches except the World Cup but new that defenders are the foundation to any team. Actually even keepers are more appreciated then defenders. The back line makes one mistake ,they blame you .forwards miss great chances yet they are like fine , try to get it in next time. But to all the defenders out there, you are the leaders on the pitch even if you aren’t given the armband.
I never saw Maldini playing..but now I know why he's arguably the greatest defender...💪💪

Tackles and challenges that don't injure either player, end the ball in possesion of the defender and leave the attacker simply defeated without any room for protest are my absolute favourite. It's just so well played and awesome to look at.

Probably the most satisfying football video I've ever watched in my life and I've watched ALOT
Trully great defending deserves way more praise. So much goes into it and often its a fine line they tread and consistently get right. You can't win a title without good defenders. Special mention to 9:08 just the effort to get back there was massive when 9/10 players just give up there. Thats the effort that makes a great player. Inspirational effort and from halfway he knew his teammate had the right side covered so the attacker couldn't cut that way and would likely try cutting back the other way if he was going to do that to beat the goalie 1 on 1 so the defender knew he could potentially stop him if tried that, he just had to get there. I love seeing that stuff. Those 1%er plays are everything in defending
