[EN] We visited Tihany - a very famous place in Hungary at Lake Balaton, on the peninsula of the same name. The village is very well maintained and has buildings with characteristic roofs covered with reed from Lake Balaton. Interestingly, lavender is grown here - as in Provence. Products based on it (oils, perfumes, etc.), as well as the lavender bundles can be bought at stores located here (for example in Tihanyi Levendula Manufaktura). After passing through the village, we reach the Benedictine abbey situated at the top of the hill, from which we can have magnificent views of Lake Balaton. The whole scenery is amazing.

[HU] Meglátogattuk Tihanyot - egy nagyon híres magyarországi helyet a Balatonon, az azonos nevű félszigeten. A falu nagyon jól karbantartott, és jellegzetes tetővel ellátott épületek tartoznak, amelyek a Balaton-nádból származnak. Érdekes módon levendulát termesztenek itt - mint Provence-ban. Az alapuló termékek (olajok, parfümök stb.), Valamint a levendula kötegek itt vásárolhatók. A falu áthaladása után elérjük a domb tetején lévő bencés apátságot, ahonnan csodálatos kilátás nyílik a Balatonra. Az egész táj csodálatos.

[PL] Zwiedziliśmy Tihany - bardzo znaną miejscowość na Węgrzech nad Balatonem, na półwyspie o tej samej nazwie. Miejscowość jest bardzo zadbana i posiada budynki o charakterystycznych dachach pokrytych trzciną z Balatonu. Co ciekawe, uprawia się tu - jak w Prowansji - lawendę. Produkty oparte na niej (olejki, perfumy itp.), a także same wiązki lawendy można kupić w znajdujących się tu sklepach (na przykład w Tihanyi Levendula Manufaktura). Po przejściu przez miejscowość docieramy do opactwa benedyktyńskiego położonego na samym szczycie wzgórza, z którego rozciąga się wspaniały widok na Balaton.

I was there last summer. I couldn't stay long because I had to catch a bus, but I got to see Barátlakások and walked around for a while. I'd love to come back and spend more time in Tihany. Lake Balaton is very nice. I live on Lake Superior in Canada which is much bigger but is colder.

@@video-tourist No problem! It's far for me to travel from Canada but it is worth it. I'd like to see all of Tihany and see Csobánc vára because I missed it last time. I'd like to try some more restaurants in Balatonfüred and do some hiking. I'm learning the Hungarian language but it isn't easy.
Yes, it's quite far :) But Hungary is worth visiting, although the language is really hard.

I'm afraid 23rd of October has nothing to do with 1989. You might might be mistaken two different events:
1. 23rd of October, 1956,Hungarian revolution against the communist government
2. December 1989,Romania,uprising against the communist govt. lead by Nicolae Ceausescu

Przyznaję, byłem w okolicy ale o tym miejscu nie słyszałem - a żałuję. Całe szczęście nad Balaton nie jest tak daleko :)
To wynik moich internetowych poszukiwań, co ciekawego można znaleźć przy Balatonie :) No i wyszło mi Tihany, z czego jestem bardzo zadowolony - fajne miejsce, co potwierdzały wycieczki skośnookich turystów - oni zawsze jadą tam, gdzie jest coś ciekawego :) Pozdrawiam serdecznie!

Magyarország gyönyörű ország, mert sok kicsi, csendes város van, ahol nincs nagy forgalmú utca. És ezért szeretek visszatérni oda. Rémálom van az utcákon Lengyelországban. Még ezekben a kisvárosokban is.
Sajnos a második világháború szinte az összes műemléket elpusztította. Lengyelország is gyönyörű ország. A probléma az, hogy az euró nem pénznem. Akkor olyan drága lesz, mint nyugaton
