I'm just a random American dude who decided to see what UK commercials (as we call them) were like in the 90s. It was a neat surprise to see Ann Jillian, who acted in the American sitcom It's a Living. :D
@@kellie5476 True, true. I don't know if I knew this when I posted that, but one of my favorite game shows was Greed. I found out there was a British version, and watched an episode of it on UA-cam. When Jerry Springer walked out, I was like, "What the heck? Do the contestants lunge at each other?" Haha. I didn't even know he was British born.
Interesting to remember that there were only 2 commercial channels until 1997, so every one of these adverts would have been on either ITV or Channel 4.
How much better was this era? No stupid devisive identitarian agendas on social media, a landline phone was used with a purpose and why did people in their garish red lipstick and 90s bobs just seem happier? Probably didn't have an enormous mortgage to live in a tiny house like me either
Good year 1994 Picked up my brand new VW Passat 2.0GL automatic loaded with standard kit back then Twin airbags ABS Powered steering Electric windows x4 Electric tilt and slide sunroof Electric heated mirrors Remote Central Locking Air conditioning CD Auto changer Luxury valour seats. Front & Rear fog lights Best car I ever had.
100%. I remember our dad used to bring it home now and again after being out and the taste was tremendous. Like so many other foods, the taste has gone massively downhill since then.
So many points I would like to make but having Belinda Carlisle as the theme tune for Peugeot was genius. And like so many foods, KFC recipe tasted so much better back then vs now. Our dad used to bring KFC home after being out and we were super excited.. If he did that now, I wouldn't eat it lol
Kids in the 3rd world will always be starving it is made to be that way otherwise it would be resolved by now. Plus, not much better here when working adults working 12 jobs still have to visit a food banks.
Because many of the governments over there are corrupt and the charity's get the lion share of the profits. The money gets water down so much. That the people who need the help, only get a little to help them. If that at all. Doesn't help that many of the poorer countries are in debt to wealthy foreign countries also. Due aid to help with infrastructure or war. I don't bother anymore. It's a scam.
The year I left school, the month I started learning drums and bought first kit and the month I got with my first girlfriend. We were together for two beautiful weeks! I partly blame the demise of our relationship on her Rock idol shooting himself. 🤦♂️
Wonder if the mizbitz commercial will ever appear on youtube? the one with the kid who bit into a biscuit/cookie and made things disappear when advertising the actual product!
Wow what memories! Looks and sounds like David Walliams in that Post Office advert! Can anyone confirm? (Didn't know who he was then, but seems defo seems like it is him!)
KFC is horrible and the chickens lived their entire life cooped up in battery cages. I would take fish and chips over KFC any day, I like fish and chips it's one of my favorite takeaway meals you can't beat it. I also don't like marmite it's honestly vile. I had marmite on toast once and I puked. But the marmite advert introduced me to Low rider by war.

I think British and American culture is a lot more entwined than people think.

Interesting to remember that there were only 2 commercial channels until 1997, so every one of these adverts would have been on either ITV or Channel 4.
@Kevin Aikman Hardly anyone had cable TV in the UK in 1994.
Lots had sky. They didn't even lay the cables for cable TV round our way until 1996.
Stephen Fry is a bar steward, a highly intelligent bar steward.
Precisely-Good man,BAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

I can't believe it's been thirty years already. Where has the time gone?
The only thing missing for me is "Nothing works as hard as
..Right Guard" and "With Crisp n Dry the food stays chrisp and dry".
Brilliant nostalgia ❤
I'm still sponsoring one of those Chiddren he's 48.
The month before I was born. Still very good to see, shame everything these days feels a bit more financially driven and soulless.
Life was best in the 80s and early 90s. Things started to go wrong in about 1995 (when I was 16 incidentally).
Me too m8, I would have been 4 months old :) and yes these days have changed soo much!
And woke
God I remember most of these. I was 17-18 in 94. Mad.

80s/90s - the days when KFC tasted good
100%. I remember our dad used to bring it home now and again after being out and the taste was tremendous. Like so many other foods, the taste has gone massively downhill since then.
People used to queue two blocks away for it then. Opened 'til midnight at least.
Good times 🤤
17:00 I saw 'Tampax United' Play once. They were bleeding awful.....
I’ll have it 😂😂😂
Adverts were more entertaining than the programmes themselves back then.
Teenage years 😐 went in a flash I wasn't 17 for long 😄🥸🎤👍🤨
£2.99!!! WTF!?
If Stephen fry isnt in the ad he's doing voice-over lol
Lots of memories unlocked here. I was 12 in April 1994
I was only 4 but I definitely remember that Marmite ad!
Lots of memories
So the Marmite ad was the first time I heard Lowrider by War 😯

That Heineken advert was so funny 😂
9:29 I have that very Chuck Berry 7" disc in my record collection!
Julie Graham in the Peugeot ad
KFC music 0:30 by Herbie Hancock I believe... anyone know the name of the piece?
James Burke Yep. Cantaloupe Island.
psifla you’re right but it was a remix by Us3 called Cantaloop.

Stephen Fry was very handsome back then! Michael Aspel advertising for neglected children! Hmm...
11:41 - ONLYYYY MEEEEE
I remember most of these, but I have no recollection of them using Dr Alban for the Tampax advert. 😑
dr alban got the women needing tampons
I know who that actor is at 10:55. Michael Lerner known for roles in Godzilla, Escape form Absolom and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
11:29 LOL You shouldn't drink and play a tune on a harmonica.
11:41 Harry Enfield!
