    Love this one, a go-to for IPA if I can't decide and comes in the 12 pack - 6.7% feels like a perfect ABV for IPA

      Nice! Yeah, this would be a good "shelfie IPA" to have in the fridge when you're not feeling anything else. The price point is always fantastic, too!

    It’s pretty good especially for a sixer under $10. I’ve always thought the can looks like a soda can and not a beer. I have no problem with any of the three you named, I can crush all three of them with ease. Great review! Cheers, Joe!

    • @averagejoe716

      Definitely, Jeff! For the price point and availability, I can't complain. Like you said, all of the big three NEIPAs are fine by me, and I could drink any of them, but this might've jumped to the top of the list for me. Maybe a side-by-side-by-side should happen at some point, haha! I can see the soda can, for sure. Thanks, brother!
      Cheers!

    The best thing about it is it is readily available anywhere. When I'm out of town it's easy to find...that added a few points for me. Nice review Joe. Cheers!

      Totally agree, Marcus. I think a beer like this definitely gets extra points for it's price and availability. I also feel like the can I reviewed here was better than the ones I had in the past. Not sure what it was, but it was definitely better. Thanks, dude!

      I agree. SN always crafts their beers extremely well. Regardless of whether or not you like a certain beer from SN, I think it's hard to argue the quality from them.

    I found this one to be a pretty solid one. Especially for the price point. I do agree the Voodoo Ranger Juicy IPA is one I prefer over this one. Great review Joe.

      For sure, Jay. For the price point, this is damn good. Hard to beat $9.99 per six pack for something that is drinkable as this. Thanks, brother!

    I picked up a couple of stovepipe cans of this beer at Sprouts tonight. It's very pleasant to drink, a nice mass-produced hazy IPA.

    Great review Joe. Sierra Nevada brewing is legendary in the craft beer industry as I'm sure you well know. This is a solid beer that really comes through as far as quality and price point. I picked up a 12 pack of hazy for only $15.99 here in Jersey and it was only 3 weeks old!!! Cheers! and looking forward to watching many more of your reviews.

    Thank you for the review. I definitely agree that this isn't a mind-blowing NEIPA, but it is a solid hazy beer. For a release from a macro-brewery, this one is quite impressive. I can tell they did some work on this one. Really hard to argue with this one. Initially unimpressed, but continues to impress me. Great beer, great review, and cheers!

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  3 роки тому

      Thanks, Robert! I think it's definitely well-made and pretty tasty. When considering beers like this, it's always good to take into account the whole package. When you consider the availability and price of something like this one versus a local hazy four-pack for $18-20, it's hard to argue this doesn't have great value. I always try to keep perspective when reviewing beers from bigger craft breweries because not everyone can seek out and/or afford the prices out there for hyped/local breweries. I appreciate the comment, dude. Really happy to hear you're enjoying this one, too!
      Cheers, man!

    I made a hazy with lemon zest and california sage. I really enjoy it and like it. However, a few days later tried it and it seemed not as good then tried it again after doing some hard yard work and it was the best beer. It is funny how our mental and body state can affect our perception of drinking a beer. I haven't tried all three together but in recall I liked the Sierra's the best then New Belgium and then Sam Adams. Enjoyed your review!

      That sounds pretty good and perfect for the warmer weather, Dale! I totally agree, dude. Depending on your body and mental state, enjoying almost anything -- not just beer -- can differ. I always try to make sure when I review beer that I'm in the mood to do so. I've noticed when I'm kind of down or tired, I have a tendency to not have the enthusiasm I typically do when I'm happy and rested. Thanks, man!

    This beer has now turned up in supermarkets here in Denmark. It's very decent for the price-point. It's in no way a competitor to Stigbergets or The Alchemists NEIPAS, but I'll buy it again for sure.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 роки тому

      For the price point and availability, it's pretty good. Great value for what it is, but as you said, it can't compete with the great NEIPAs out there, as those are on another level. Glad to hear you dug it to some degree, Lars! Thanks for the comment!

    No reviews for the Cool Little Thing IPA 7.5% Cryo Fresh Hazy IPA, and it is a great one. It is 7 weeks old and i am impressed, not lack luster. Its got a nice creamy/oily/soapy mouthfeel. If you see it pick it up. You really missed out, with Atomic Torpedo 8.2%...it was so oily, great mouthfeel, my favorite West Coaster, from them. The 9.2 Atomic Torpedo is fine, but not as cool as the 8.2. I had a problem with Cosmic Little Thing, thought it was boozy, but plan to revisit it, when i see it fresh, and i hear it is an all year round product...Cheeers!!!

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  5 місяців тому

      I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Cryo Fresh hazy IPA. I don't see the Atomic Torpedo often, but if I see the 8.2% ABV version -- and it's relatively fresh -- I'll grab that, too. Thanks for the info, dude! I'm already thinking about next month's shelfie beers, so either/or would work perfectly.
      Cheers, dude!

    I can only handle IPAs like this, Lagunitas and Firestone Mind Haze. Sometimes others but i cant do much more tgan 50 ibu. Summertime is the only time i drink IPAs and light color lagers. Sam Adams Westcoast Rebel IPA was one of my old favorites, im dying to try Wicked Hazy. San Adams ipas are good.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  5 місяців тому +1

      Have you tried any other New England or Hazy IPAs, Josh? Like from local breweries? Most NEIPA or Hazy IPAs have IBU ratings under 50, and don't have a lot of bitterness, so I think they'd be more in your wheelhouse based on what you just said. I'm bummed out that Samuel Adams got rid of Rebel IPA. I thought it was a damn solid West Coast IPA.
      Cheers, man!

    Yea that ones actually pretty good. It was easy to find for a couple months around here. Haven't seen it in a while though. Either way been drinking nothing but OtherHalf lately. Haven't tried the Voodoo or Sam Adams yet though, the only IPA I've tried from them was Rebel.

      Sounds the same as me, Nicholas, haha! Other Half FTW! It's really fun to grab beers like this and drink them once in a while. Lighter on the wallet ... and pretty damn solid to boot. I'd be curious to hear your opinion on the Voodoo Ranger or Sam Adams NEIPA if you ever give 'em a go.

    Is it safe to drink if it expired in July? Just bought a case and there’s a ton of floaties/sediment in it :(

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 роки тому +1

      Yes. As long as it tastes good, don't worry about the floaties/sediment, especially since that can be somewhat "normal" for a style like this. It might not look appetizing, but it's unlikely you're going to sick from it. The "best by" date on a bottle/can of beer is more of an indication about the when the quality of the beer will drop-off in the brewery's eyes, and not a true expiration date.
      Cheers!

    I believe Sierra Nevada Cosmic Little Thing be a good transition beer. It is very very mellow yet with a hint of "IPAness". That 8% ABV will sneak up on ya like a lion on a gazelle.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 місяці тому

      I could see that for a lot of the "Little Thing" series of beers. A lot of them aren't full-on hop-forward, which can definitely be beneficial to someone trying to get into IPAs. Good call. The ABVs of beers nowadays are scary. So many hide the alcohol well, and after a few of 'em, you're blitzed, haha!
      Cheers, Jeffrey!

    So months ago I hit up my local Trader Joes and grabbed this and the Juicy Hazy Voodoo Ranger offerings. At that time I preferred the Ranger over the SN Hazy. My nephew brought a six pack of this down for the 4th of July weekend and it was a much better " perceived " beer IMHO. It's great little QPR that gets the job done.

    Yep, nope...you are not crazy. When Hazy Little Thing hit the shelf, it was a little light. Recent cans i have had, have been bursting with flavors.
    The last can i had of Sam Adams NEIPA was very bad. I dont think it was an off batch, i think it has been macroed. A reason for this, might be...Canada is now getting this beer now, and they might have moved production of this beer somewhere else. But, this is only a guess, i got no idea.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  5 років тому

      That's good to hear, as the first few cans I had of this were definitely underwhelming. This can was much better. I can't speak too much to the quality of Sam Adams NEIPA, as I've only had that three or four times, but I didn't notice a huge dropoff when I did the live beer review with Nick and Jesse a while back. I'll take your word for it, though.

      No worries, man! I'm the same way, though. I consider myself more of a beer enthusiast/lover than anything else. Definitely not a beer snob. I've never understand why some people who drink craft beer feels it's their place to tell others what to like. Drink what you enjoy, and it doesn't matter if it's craft or macro, as long as you dig it, then that's all that matters!
