Hi James, thanks for the great videos, quick question, in your opening photo you have the AIM solo mounted on the steering wheel, can you say from expeience how much this affects the pitch/yaw/roll/ angle measurments of the device when driving? im using mine on my motorcycle and the only room to mount it is on my top triple clamp steerer, but i dont want it to affect my angle readings. -based on your expeirince wil this affect it alot to the point where the measurements are useless ?
Hi Christopher. I get asked this a lot and I have to say that I've not experienced any issues at all having it mounted on the wheel or in various locations. I did some test runs the other day with a Solo 2 taped to the inside of my seat and it worked well too. I use GPS mostly (LongG, LatG, inlineAcc) so I will acknowledge that I'm not looking at lean and angles as much but for what I've been using it for, it's been great. Hope this helps.
Im from UFPR Formula SAE team and im looking for something that help us to record the datas from laps. Do u mind to share what the "hardware" that u use to record this datas? What do u use to record this infos? GPS informations and these things... ty for ur content, such a good study material!!!!
Is there a way to adjust the overlay? In the east-west direction, the path shows both Bing and Google 5-8 feet too far south and 5-8 feet too far west. Is there a way to correct the GPS feedback?
Hi Keith, unfortunately not. What I have found helps is viewing the files in Race Studio Analysis 3 as that gives you the option of trying different mapping solutions of which some have better accuracy at different tracks. Hope this helps.
Wait until you see how nicely this is integrated into Race Studio 3 Analysis. There is a video on my channel about this. I do agree with you Steve about the motorbike content. There is a good Aim Sports US webinar on bikes, you can see it here; ua-cam.com/video/PR5mj5bCYGQ/v-deo.html
Great tip! However, when opening the export file in google Earth, my laps are slightly off track. The Google Earth satellite is a couple of months old. Is there any way to adjust the GPS data in the file export? Or any other way to match the images?
Sometimes this happens and I don't know how to adjust. If anyone watching knows how it would be lovely if you could comment in this comments box. Are you using a new or old GPS unit? I've found more modern GPS08 or Solo 2 type devices have less issues than the older units. Sorry not to be of more help Anders.
Hi! Great video. One thing that I would like to know is how to see the turning radio (curve path) by the gps with this software (in the mychron 5). thanks!!!
I'm glad you like the video. In the new version of Race Studio, the plan will be to overlay more than just line data on a GPS overlay. That's a great suggestion to send through to AiM. Thanks for watching the videos, really appreciate it.
Hello James, thanks for your video. I have an issue with my GPS lap track. The line is not precisious, it shows as sometimes I went a little bit out of the kerbs (but it is not true). It seems as the record is not 100% aligned with the track. Can you help my to solve this please ? It would be very helpful Thanks mate ! :)
Hi! It’s an accuracy issue with the mapping software and the GPS satellites I believe. It’s not something that can be fixed, however, I do have an idea. If you try out the new Race Studio Analysis 3 (it’s in beta) you can test different mapping solutions (you can choose from Bing, Google etc.) at the click of a button. You might find a few that one mapping software does a better job. Hope this helps, James
Hi! Good Morning. Can I ask you something? my mychron 5 generates 14 partials when I download the information to the computer (depending on the direction changes of the circuit). This produces that it has a considerable difference between the real return with respect to the ideal return. I want to do 4 partials but I don't know how to do it. Should I modify it from "master map"?
Hi Diego. You’ll want to use the Map Manager and separate up your segments there for your desired splits. Then you can use the Split times report and more. Have a look at this video for help; ua-cam.com/video/a4afWdJf3g4/v-deo.html I hope you get it to work well.
Hi Tommy. There isn't in this version of Race Studio Analysis 2. However, Race Studio Analysis 3 (which is in beta) will allow for this to happen. It'll be a feature released soon I believe and it'll be super useful as you suggest. Have you tried the RS3A yet?
Hi! I believe this is possible if you are using a GoPro (or equivalent) for video footage. If you are using a SmartyCam, you should be able to do it all in RS3A.
@@JamesColborn Not easy. The RS3 export format is incompatible with Race Render. Can’t even export it into RS2 which allowed a variety of export formats. If there is way, would love to learn it.
There used to be a setting allowing your data to be available at download for RS3A and RS2A. It’s in the download settings on RA3. If you could do that, you would be able to download from RS2 to race render.
Thanks James! These really help. I'm having an issue with my RS2 setup. When I click on a point in measures graph, the indicator cursor on my track map and GPS don't match (the cursor on my GPS map is about 50m before the cursor on my track map). Do you have any troubleshooting tips for this?
@@AKCombines2 Depends upon the device used to capture the data, the age of the data (is it a file from years ago) as the GPS satellites that get used sometimes are slightly different. With the new GPS08 devices (new Solos, MXLs etc.) I have often found no issues with using same track map though.
Have you found a way to use laps from multiple sessions? I would like to take fast laps from a day (typically 8 session or so) on one image, but haven't figured how to do that yet. Thanks for the video! it was very helpful!
Hi! You absolutely can. I just downloaded two separate sessions (from from morning, one from afternoon) and compared. Just create separate Google Earth files in AiM with different names (one for each session) and then when you are in Google Earth just select both files and open up. Once open, you can recolour and see the laps from either session. Hope this helps.
Once again. I have used your video to get my overlay function set up and useable. Excellent.
I’m so pleased this was helpful. Wait until you try Race Studio 3 Analysis (there is a video on my channel) as this is done automatically for you!
Really help full tutorial!
Though is it possible to add the sattelite image to the Race analyzer?
Again huge thanks!
It is not yet Frank. I am sure that future versions will have more integrations. Thanks!
