Wheeler Dealers Where Are They Now? Part 14 - Citroen DS & Bentley Mulsanne Turbo

- It's now over 20 years since the very first series of Wheeler Dealers was aired presented by Mike Brewer and Edd China, and we thought it was an opportune time to see if we could find out what happened to those early cars after they were sold.
In the Fifth Series, now suffixed 'On The Road' as some vehicles are sourced from mainland Europe, Mike & Edd had £5000 to buy and restore a classic car - remember cars and parts were a lot cheaper in 2008!
Originally WD was serialised in 30 minute episodes, with 2 per car, and these episodes of series 5 featured:
1974 Citroen DS
1984 Bentley Mulsanne Turbo A783YGF

the screen shot of the Bentley spotting comment in your video @6.58 is my comment. I made it just after its Mc Laren Vale owner purchased it. I rode in the car whilst it was owned by Windsor Limousines. But it was never used for paid hire. Its owner put it up on the hoist and found it had significant rust. He then kept it in storage until around 2020 then advertised it on Gumtree for around $15,000. Sadly, it was merely 'tarted up' by the tv show; hiding significant rust / corrosion issues. It was then advertised by its next owner in the Adelaide Hills, wanting to 'part trade' it for a RR Silver Cloud. Reckon he found the corrosion too expensive to fix, so just wanted out.
WOW! That's brilliant! I am pleased my Windsor Limo belief was correct. We are going to be putting out a update video soon so will include that. Thanks for taking the time to post the information.
Before Mike went to see the Bentley he first went to see a white Rolls Royce but it was a bit far gone and rusty. On the program Shed and buried Henry Cole went to the same farm to buy stuff. He didn't look at the Rolls but it was in the background when he was haggling with the owner.
That Bentley looked gorgeous. I always liked that episode, the way they made it look good.
The blue interior wasnt that great though. Looked like something David Dickinson would drive.
I like that episode too. What I like about it is that everybody in that video is so calm and nice. One of the best episodes from WD, in my opinion.
Interesting again. Always loved those Citroens. I recall a time at the NEC classic car show when Edd and Mike used to host the live stage event, they used to have a Q & A and someone asked Edd what was the hardest car he had ever had to work on on the show. He said it was that Bentley, apparently every single job he had to do on it was a nightmare. You have to bear in mind that they often have to do a lot more to the cars than they show on film or own up to, which is why all the numbers have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
I love the content you cover as I've been a wheeler dealer fan from the get go. And thanks for getting back to me yesterday. Keep up the good work buddy 👍
Any time!
Excellent work again. I loved the Citroën DS and wondered about its fate. At least we know the whereabouts of the death trap cars from Chop Shop London Garages, so many of them were scrapped, crushed, and abandoned, taken away from polite society. 😅
Thanks! Several Chop Shop cars have appeared on Ebay, not looking in good condition...
I saw an ad of one of the disasters they did, the one from a 90s Corsa. It was for sale in germany as a non runner. Don't ask how I found it.
Hi there, I was browsing through Facebook marketplace place and I’ve found the Bentley for sale here in South Australia, in the Adelaide hills. It’s seems like it has had a rough life.
That ad brought me here. It’s definitely a long way from where it was. (Both location and restored condition) It also has a lot rust in the roof. I’d love to buy it just for the sheer fact it was on the show
Any chance of a link?
@@oscarsgarage447 It was on Facebook marketplace but the ad has since been removed. I did find 2 pictures of this ad and i posted the link here but this comment got removed. If u want these 2 pictures let me know
Was watching Callan film the other day and did a DVLA check on the range rover. In the film it is white, now comes back as red but still exists. Would be great if you did one on this or other British films or TV series.
Will check it out

@@oscarsgarage447 yes of course, would be great to chat about the car ,
My father worked at the factory so i bought the car in his memory so it’s a keeper
@@oscarsgarage447 can’t seem to message you
I quick little information. The Citroën indeed went back to France my dad's mate lived in France and was a mechanic and the garages next door bought and strip it for parts I'm almost certain it's was the wheeler dealers car because it was imported from the UK and it was around 2008. 1/2 part
The reason this car is remember is because the citreon break wasn't pleased in France the headlights were a valuable part but because they were uk spec the weren't worth anything. That's the reason the car was remember. So I'm sure that's the car. Hope this helped
WOW! Thanks for that. Do you know where in France it went to? I am surprised they did not refit the French headlamps if it went back to France?
enjoy these but the sound is a bit poor
Appreciate the feedback. Do you mean poor in terms of volume or quality?
@@oscarsgarage447 acoustic panels will help 👍 great work BTW
