Derrick Bostrom is cool as fuck. Curt Kirkwood is one of the most amazing songwriters to ever exist, although dealing with those two ducking stoners for over a decade must have truly taken its toll.
If you've ever spent any time around them (which was easy to do in the 80's), or read the book about them, you'd know he was as much a stoner as the other two until sometime in the mid 90's. As well, dig through his website, and you can find pages of his stoner comics.
I’ll have to look into that book. We by pure luck ended up to see the Craig Kilborn Show . Where they played Hercules. Just so happen my then new Wife had turned me onto them only a year before they played Kilborn. When they played Hercules. The monster screams . That was/is such a good idea.
I was in Tempe AZ from '86 thru '93 and saw the Puppets quite a bit. Curt was always cool and would talk to you. Chris kind of scared me, but Bostrom didn't seem to like to interact with fans. I saw them in '91 (I think) outside at Long Wongs, and it is still one of the best shows I've ever seen. They were on fire. Tightest outfit I've ever seen, and then they would go off on those impov jams... it was unreal.
"I've been playing drums for 15 fuckin years and I gotta open for these dope kids from California who can't even SPELL Rock N Roll??? They're not fit to polish my drum stick!"
