For the same reason some people think the world is flat. They are gullible. They hear some charismatic person say something that sorta makes sense to them, so they join the cult. But once they are in they are isolated from any outside help so they have no choice but to stay. And a lot of kids grow up in these cults with total faith in the cult leader because it's the only life they've ever known

She had been cremated before they even contacted the family.. no criminal investigation has been done, bc the police over there said it was a "suicide"... We still don't know how she died or anything..

That is just the nature of our species. As there will always be those that often act irrationally if there is someone who is dangerously charismatic enough to alter their manner of thought and moralistic tendencies to suit their own twisted, abhorrent and nihilistically self-centred agenda.

I dont get squeamish from things like this, from audible discussions of things of this nature, but i had to skip multiple chunks of their podcast because of how truly sadistic and inhuman this monster was. The son of the Japanese Emperor in WWII retired in 2019. And he was proud that he was the only emperor ever to not have a war involving Japan under his rule. It's amazing that his father ordered such horrifying and disgusting things, while he seems dedicated to peace. Really goes to show that even if someone is raised by a monster, doesn't mean they will be one themselves
These are truly horrifying histories. I heard of the Anthill Kids but had no idea how truly insane it was. The tragedy of the Japanese on Saipan is very scary too. So much unneeded death and suffering. RiP to all effected by each of these events.

They work hard for their money and their production is as good as if not better than a lot of well funded commercial television networks so $2 bucks a month is well worth it so I'm definitely getting it. The point I was trying to make is they make it clear that a payment isn't necessary if you are genuinely struggling. It shows to me that they have humanity and aren't just motivated by money which is admirable to me.

When I was stationed in Japan, I visited the Suicide Cliffs. Yes, I was an American Sailor, but the overwhelming feeling of loss & death of the Japanese is so palpable…it’s difficult to comprehend. On Okinawa, besides Suicide Cliffs, you can still see many landmarks regarding the Kamikaze Pilots & Planes. It’ll hit you in the heart. War sucks. #Ukraine 🇺🇦

So my grandpa (who is now 96 years old and can still recollect his time in Saipan) was drafted at the end of world war two and was in Saipan. He always told us the stories of locals flinging themselves off of cliffs because they were told the *Americans will kill and eat your children*. So that story is 100 percent true, horrific, and terribly sad

I’ve seen that cliff in Saipan first hand. Its one of two cliffs on the island that had mass suicides during the Allied invasion during WWII. It’s such a horrible thing to know that so much pain and suffering took place because of lies in what is otherwise one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.

I visited that peace memorial when I was stationed on Okinawa... that place does have a strange, surreal aura about it. Local legend there has it that Americans that go near the cliff edge get a feeling of being pushed.
I'm from Quebec, and the story of Roch Thériault is one that my father told me when I was younger, as he was born in 1957 and heard of it plenty while it was unfolding. His nick name "Moïse" is the french translation of "Moses". He legitimately thought he was Moses, and a prophet of God, at first at least. And maybe at the end, I don't know how his mind worked. Which, coming from Quebec, is really not that surprising, considering how close to religion we were until the mid 60s.

I’ve seen that cliff in Saipan first hand. Its one of two cliffs on the island that had mass suicides during the Allied invasion during WWII. It’s such a horrible thing to know that so much pain and suffering took place because of lies in what is otherwise one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.
I like sipping whiskey and taking a few tokes, then turning on your channel as i sketch random things that come to mind inspired from your stories.

I'm from Quebec, and the story of Roch Thériault is one that my father told me when I was younger, as he was born in 1957 and heard of it plenty while it was unfolding. His nick name "Moïse" is the french translation of "Moses". He legitimately thought he was Moses, and a prophet of God, at first at least. And maybe at the end, I don't know how his mind worked. Which, coming from Quebec, is really not that surprising, considering how close to religion we were until the mid 60s.
