Seriously, thank you, a lot! I may never work with movies and such, but not only I love learning about it, but I can imagine how much your work helps the people who can use this information. This channel is so good that a lot of times I find myself thinking how it is possible for all of you to dedicate your valuable time to teach us all these amazing things. It's mind blowing.
Great help! Informative and concise! Compared to to the videos out there this is the most elaborate one and easy to understand. I would never know the difference between a soft light and diffused light if it wasn't for this video.
Thank you for explaining the difference between soft and diffused! They seem to have become interchangeable these days, but understanding the fundamentals help!
thank you very much guys. your tutorials are very helpful to people who keen to learn technical knowledge on different film making departments. all we have to do is watch RJFS tutorials, apply them practically, and learn more techniques.
I know this is an old video but I just came across it and it is amazing. I took light for theater and film and I think I learned more from this video then I did both those classes.
Professional and simple way shows light effects. I have already studio and understanding to light effects but this video give me more ideas, great video. Thumbs up.
Very nice video. Keep up the good work. It sure, would have been useful to many. Explaining the characteristics of lighting quality was very good, because they say, that, in film media Cinematography is called as Camera Choreography.
Very excellent explanation thank you very much , Kindly May you replicate the same look in 6 41 minute ( black and white ) as film noir lighting tutorial. Also May you kindly explain how to light night interiors scenes in a separate tutorial
They covered this concept a little bit in their "direction of light" video. An important element is lighting just the bare essentials of what you want to be seen, but keeping the majority of the scene dark. Using Silhouettes or edge lighting tends to be very effective! It also usually helps to keep your ISO low, and if possible open up your lens to a lower aperture. Take a look at where the lights are coming from, and what they illuminate in some popular movies, that will help a lot!
This is the best explanation of hard vs. soft light I've ever seen. I love the examples and the narration as well as the how-to aspect. I will definitely share this with my students. Thank you!
LOVE this! So nicely informative! I think lighting is probably my favorite aspect of film/photography but I'm very ignorant of how to utilize it effectively. This helps heaps! :)
Thank you guys for making lighting videos! This video realy helped me understand how i should light my videos and the difference between different types of lights! Thank you! Keep up the good work! :)
Damn, short and concise! And your examples (when you're talking about different moods) helps with the visualisations as well. Oh, and the part about using different lights at home is good too, never thought of it that way.

Another lighting technique that I want to know which is similar is how to create low light scenes without creating camera grain.
